as someone who currently still hoards mugs and the occasional plate at 25 years old you should absolutely send it their way. This is exactly why I have 4 mugs reserved specifically for me that I'm only allowed to use so I'm way more likely to go and wash them myself, plus establishing the habit of reusing the same kitchen item during that same day so I don't dirty any more dishes is also beneficial

I love how you can set up a whole narrative in such a way that you only reveal the true meaning more than halfway through the song and it instantly makes the entire first half click into place.

My favorite thing about Tom's music is that you can hear how talented of a musician he is. It sounds like he picks a genre of music for each song and flexes his knowledge and understanding of that genre through the song.. I love the comedy and the lyrics but it's the bangin' music that has me hooked.
The number of instruments he can play is astounding.
The only walk of shame I've ever had in my life is when I carry all the cups and mugs back downstairs.

I had never felt so personally seen by a Tom Cardy song. This one slaps and now listen to this song and cry as I carry 10 glasses that only ever contained water and Juice downstairs to my kitchen.

This should have a lot more views. It might be a less relatable number than Smokin' Joe or something, but it really speaks to the universal human experience and its melody and vocals are just plain *pretty*. I love how it captures sort of a combination of sweetness and melancholy: the roommates are so cheerful and the music is so soft but the speaker is barred from experiencing the simple pleasure of their company by the weight of his sins. As a side note, i know everyone says this but it bears repeating that the way Tom buries the lede in his songs never fails to take me out. I wish I had commented back when I first saw it so I could have captured the exact moment my slightly fuzzy confusion paid off. The specific way he embraces the cups and mugs, those unwieldy embodiments of his guilt, really sells the impact of the reveal.
This is a masterful comment and I love how succinctly you portrayed his very relatable human condition. Now I’m going to listen yet again with even more appreciation!
