I saw Guns 'n Roses live at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas in 1992. It was the best concert I have ever attended! They played for close to three hours and gave it everything they had.
The other singer on the roof is/was Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon

The videos in this trilogy are, “Don't Cry,” “November Rain”, and “Estranged”. Together, they form the age-old story of boy meets girl.
I'd love a reactor to do all 3 in a row with minimal pauses to take it all in at once.
@@xanajak As well as have read the short story "Without You" that the trilogy is based, which in turn is based loosely on Axl and WErin Everly as well as the toll skyrocketing fame takes on those who reach that level.
This is one of those songs that you instantly fall in love with the first time you hear it… it stood the test of time

First of a trilogy. Great band.
"Don't cry" was allegedly the 1st song that Guns N' Roses wrote together in the mid-80's, but it wasn't recorded until the 'Use your illusion' albums in 1991 - ironically, guitarist Izzy Stradlin who co-wrote the song had left the band when this music video was filmed in late 1991 (There is a sign in the video that says, "Where's Izzy?")
The song also featured singer Shannon Hoon from the band Blind Melon, who had a hit around 1993, a ballad called 'No rain'... Hoon knew GNR vocalist Axl Rose from Indiana and also left to come to California to be a rock star and did the video w/ Guns N' Roses ... Sadly, Shannon Hoon was also a heavy drug user and after Blind Melon released their 2nd album 'Soup' in 1995... he was found dead from an OD on tour.
The model in the music video was supermodel Stephanie Seymour, who appeared in Playboy & Victoria Secrets catalogs... She met Axl Rose around 1991 and they became a couple and got engaged... She appeared on "Don't cry" (Part 1 of the video trilogy) where Axl Rose dies (The scene where she was seen fighting Axl Rose trying to get the gun out of his hand was depicting a real incident, but it happened w/ Axl Rose's ex-wife Erin Everly... Axl apparently got into a fight w/ Erin, and had a gun that he threatened to kill himself with. Erin freaked out and was able to wrestle the gun away from Axl)
In 'November rain' (Part 2 of the video trilogy), it is Stephanie Seymour who dies in the story a year after a grand wedding ceremony.
But by 1993, Axl and Stephanie Seymour had broken up... both she and Erin Everly sued Axl Rose for battery and abuse in 1994.
So, the music video for 'Estranged' (Part 3 of the video trilogy) was filmed without Stephanie Seymour and depicted Axl's character struggling after the death of his wife.
Just wanted to add that a lot of the trilogy videos' story is not the same as the stories behind the songs, themselves.

The reason for the gravestone with W. Axl Rose 1962 - 1990 on it is that he tried to commit suicide in 1990. This video is the first in the "trilogy" of Don't Cry, November Rain and Estranged. I saw Guns N' Roses in 1993 towards the end of their massive Use Your Illusion world tour & it was epic. Original rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin played with the band as his replacement Gilby Clarke broke his arm. Special guests were Ronnie Wood from The Rolling Stones and Mike Monroe from Hanoi Rocks.

When you say BIG I totally get it. In my lifetime, there's never been anything close to the anticipation for an album like their was for Illusions. HUGE, everywhere. Intro riff to this song was my first riff on the guitar I really wanted to learn

This has always been one of my fav GnR songs, together with Estranged, Civil War and November Rain. Don't think you know Estranged and Civil War, might wanna give those a go too 🙂

Back in the day I was a big GNR fan and listened to their albums endlessly which changed when I got more and more into Grunch and Industrial Rock. But I still love to listen to GNR and I am looking forward to see Slash play live in April.
Btw ... on the Use your illusion albums (there are two) there are two version of the song "Don't cry" ... the music is the same but the second version has alternative lyrics.

Seeing Slash w/ Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators in 2024? Great! I saw Slash once w/ Velvet Revolver in 2007... he's awesome live. I was also lucky that I got to watch their singer Scott Weiland (also of Stone Temple Pilots) perform; he died in 2015.
Not sure what they'll play, but they've cut down on Guns N' Roses song in their 2022 setlist since GNR is actively touring:

@@LordRahl1975 The fact that it took the band (specifically, Axl) 17 years to release an album of new material shows how important a songwriting partner Izzy was. They co-wrote some genuine classics on all the records between 1987-91, as well as before then. Even now, with Slash and Duff back in the band for some years, where's the new album? Guns N' Roses seems content to just be a nostalgia act.
