It’s been a quiet week over here 🤍 I’ve been recently investing extra time in taking care of my health. I wanted to share some ways I cultivate a feeling of comfort in winter. One way I do this is by choosing clothing that makes me feel safe and comfortable in my own skin. I hope you enjoy this simple day of foraging evergreens, pine resin, and making tea, and hopeful affirmations for the new year🫖
❤️No obligation whatsoever, but if you would like to donate to support this channel. $8 will get a thank you postcard (my own art) from me in the mail (please note: you must include address in your note so I can send it!). It is much appreciated: www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_...

    * Most smoke resin on a charcoal disc. However, not wanting too much smoke, I put the powder in oil and heated it like a wax melt. The smell is verrry subtle in comparison, but after a few days it adds a layer of pine freshness to my house, since it’s a small space.

It's lovely, I think, it's a video and a vlog, so I can take the best from both ☺
I liked when you say, referring to your younger self "Sometimes I still take inspiration from her". It's a lovely thought and shows love, which ìs so precious and made me think, as I also look at my past self sometimes, but with a negative shade of regret, cos of what I was and now I seem not to be (also not aknowledging I did change, in many ways) What you said made my brain work and I'll try to have a different attitude now. Can't guarantee I'll succeed, but I'll try ☺
I hope this wasn't too long and I hope it made sense 😅
Also, happy furry heart is better ☺

My daughter would immerse herself in different historical time periods. When she was 13 she was immersed in the 1920s and she chose to wear an antique 1920s lace tea dress and a flapper's style hairdo to her 8th grade graduation. I love how she walks to the beat of her own drum. So proud of her. Some of her peers did not appreciate her individualism at the time but she has many friends now who do. I don’t know what is involved for you in starting over again. For me, it was 56 when I got divorced and had to sell the family home. I was also MD of a large company which was both good and bad in that I was always busy but, equally, I never got to relax. I made a conscious decision not to go chasing anything for a while. A couple of years later, I decided to see what I could find. I used an upmarket seniors matching agency and had a couple of lovely days or evenings with 2 different ladies. Then along came number 3; that was nearly 20 years ago and we are very happy and married. For me, the greatest lesson that I had to learn was to like myself; forgive myself for the occasional failing and stop setting targets for every little thing (E.g. can I finish the dusting and be back from shopping by 12). For me, it made me a more settled person

I live alone but not alone because I live with three big dogs. We had a wonderful walk in the bush today. The trees were covered in snow and looked like a fairy tale. The river is still open and sounded like music. We walked for a couple of hours because the dogs were eager to run in the snow and I wanted to start looking for a small tree I could dig up and pot for my Christmas tree this year. When we got back we made sure my rabbits had lots of warm bedding and the water pump was free of ice. It was very quiet and peaceful. I’m going to spend time drawing this afternoon and will make a nice root vegetable soup for supper. I had a good crop of carrots, beets, potatoes and onions and herbs this year and I’m looking forward to a wonderful aromatic soup later today.

So true that what you wear influences your mood and how you feel about yourself. Like you I was always drawn to “old-fashioned” clothing and I once had a job in a pioneer museum where I wore an 1830’s dress and cap - I really felt like myself in that costume! In daily modern life I love to wear skirts that swirl around my legs, cozy sweaters and comfy boots. So important to be true to yourself. This was another beautiful slice of your life - thank you for sharing!

Your comments about stepping away from the media cannot be more true. I have pretty much cut out social media over the past year and a half and have restricted my news intake to just a few minutes a couple times a week and I am so much happier because of it. Every time I have hopped on facebook or turned on the radio for an extensive period of time since, I immediately start feeling the negativity and my anxiety levels rising. So much about mainstream media focuses on the bad and is designed to encourage fear and division because that what seems to keep people engaged. I do not believe in that. I think your channel is a perfect example of how people can be just as engaged by focusing on peace, nature, and perseverance through challenging times.

I’ve began practicing a more mindful life and really just trying to honor my body and self and slow down. I seem to be met with a lot of opinions on how this isn’t “normal” but to me, it feels like everything up until now was abnormal. You spoke on mental health and addictions, so I’m going to be watching many more of your videos to learn your story and hopefully bring some of this stillness into my own life. So, THANK YOU. To switch off the media for a week and to turn our attention to our surroundings is far more real and wholesome. All I dream about in this life is good health, my own home and my favorite job. It is so wonderful and valuable when you are healthy and nothing hurts, all tests are good. When you have your own cozy house, albeit small and simple. It's great when there is a quiet job without much stress, somewhere in a small town with friendly and familiar people. I don't need anything more in this life. Of course, there will be failures and problems, but the basis of happiness for me now is only this - health, home, work and a familiar cozy circle of friendly people. I don't even dream of a partner. I wish everyone and everyone to find their place of power, their safe place where you will be calm and well. On weekdays and busy days with stress, quiet streets, houses and coffee shops are especially valuable for calming down.

You are such a well spoken, and articulate lady!! I agree with you: we DO NEED to find that balance in our lives, and also to try to focus more on the positive aspects of our lives. It’s far too easy to wallow in self pity; as I tend to do : am trying to overcome this. GOD BLESS XXX

What a gentle blessing you are, I live alone in my little town house but I'm never Lonely. I embrace all my hobbies from painting watercolors, playing my guitars and writing music, to building and designing, to preparing all my breads and canning food, I enjoy my solitude and peaceful lifestyle. I do love to engage with gentle and kind hearted souls when I do go out but I honestly prefer to enjoy all the life experiences and talents I have acquired over the many years. I agree with you about surrounding yourself with positive uplifting energy, this world is too full of destructive forces that will so easily snatch away what you treasure the most. You would be a good person and such a joyful element to anyone's life, your humble passion and tender nature is a treasure this world has overlooked. Be blessed and keep safe and always remember to listen to your inter-voice, I'm glad to have found you today and your positive energy and warm sunlight.

Every video is like a dessert for me, every minute I savor, enjoy every precious shot. Landscapes, chamber shootings in the cottage,
focusing the camera on the details and of course the presence of
lovely Paola herself in the frame is pure aesthetics and medicine for the eyes and ears. I feel that one video a week is not enough for me and I will have to come back and watch all the videos over and over again.
And how much inspiration I get! Even today, despite the cold and strong wind, I will go to the forest for pine branches, cones and resin, beautifully decorate my house and drink pine needles tea with honey. And I will be happy, despite the fact that yesterday I was
not fair fired from my job.
With admiration from the Carpathian mountains of Ukraine.

well sure it's all about saving money and buying nothing but toilet paper, several food pantries for food look them up, go to online classifieds for the absolute cheapest 1 roomer or family members to stay with or a friend. When you get your check don't spend it that's a nono. before you know it you have enough to find your own little plot of land closest to your work or delve into the working at home options on CZcams ect. While you are saving money this gives you time to look and check out all the money home job options and it's exciting to start that journey sooner than later.

I just love the beginning of your video….I do Reiki and it helps train our energy on how we want to feel rather then being victim to the world and our surroundings…..making your own reality is exactly it and a magic we all have! I haven’t seen any other of your videos but I really feel like all the stuff you said at the end of the video would be great done in video form and make us feel it like you did in the beginning with your video story, it’s done so well and the world needs to feel right now everyone has become so numb. Thank you for this
