I’ve loved this song for years, both the Buddy Holly and Beatles version, but upon discovering this gem, this has became my favourite. Slower pacing and harmonies just elevated the song tenfold

And as far as it sounding better, there are 79 likes on the original comment, and only one on your comment saying it was too slow, so, there's that.

True vocals, harmonies.... no digital autotuning! This live version gives a great example of how to play, sing and even end this song! Would've loved to have been in a band, back in the day, covering such songs, when I was playing in bands in my younger years. Definitely would have several Buddy Holly songs in the set lists! Music has changed a lot and we don't see/hear but very rare new songs even close to these great hits of the past. 😁

This music is perfect slowed down, contrary to the "fast" version of Beatles and even Holly himself. About this particular interpretation, it's funny and all but wish they had made an "official" version of this beautiful song.
People…people, let’s be honest, it’s the best version of Words Of Love, ever. Buddy would approve for sure. The tempo was slowed a bit, a Telecaster (Niki Sullivan) is carrying the music. He plays it differently, adding very tasty subtleties. Another huge difference is the bass line…adding the 3rd instead of Buddy’s version going to the 5th after the the one chord. The added percussion Guiro instrument has a huge impact, as well as several backup singers with killer harmonies. This was a stage production on a huge level..they performed night after night, and obviously were TIGHT! That’s my take.
I've never heard this song at this Tempo. .its so surreal...it almost sounds like a Ween song. This man was so a head of his time...but taken too soon...

If you listen closely, he's actually doing the Beatles version here more than Holly's version.

Saw this show on Broadway "The Buddy Holly Story" and hope they bring it back to Broadway, as I can see this one over and over!
