  • Degenerative Disc Disease is silent until the later phases. This leads to chronic pain, disc herniation, and pinched nerves. Poor posture is the number one condition that leads to this chronic problem.

Discs can regenerate. I used to think that they couldn't until I took updated xrays on my wellness chiro patients. Most didn't but a few did double in size. They were all 65 yrs old or older. When looking further into this what the deciding factor was that these patients actually exercised regularly, ate a clean diet and were grateful people. We are design for self healing and self regulation. Unfortunately for most people our life choices limits the healing potential. Hopefully this can help motivate the many. Good luck!

the tire analogy doesn't hold because it's not a living tissue. even bone can heal and grow stronger. I wasn't born with discs the size they are now, they grew. I'm skeptical, I think we'll find out this stuff can heal if you create the right conditions for it to do so.

Hi Dr Mandell thank you for this very informative video. I am a 66 year old male and been very fit until August 2022. I used to be a long distance rider, worked out at the gym but in the last 10 years I was hit by negligent drivers that hit me in the bike lane. Therefore massive whiplash, fractures, etc. I recovered each time and kept riding until August 2022. I noticed that I had a very nasty neck pain in the left of my neck, which has got worse of the next few months. I did stop riding all together because it was causing me a lot of inflammation. Now I have issues in the upper part of my thoracic spine, down the right of L2/L3/L3/L4. I have seen a neurosurgeon who recommended no surgery and I was put of pain medication plus some cortisone injections. My neck pain has increased so badly that I can't sleep without tablets. Now I also feeling referred shoulder pain, arms, hands and fingers. Also burning pain, numbness travelling to my lower back, groin, legs and feet. When I sit I feel tightening of my groin and feet. My right calf also hurts. To make thing worse I get headaches, light headed, right side tinnitus. This causes depression, anxiety, high blood pressure because I can't get no relief. It is 24/7, I can't sleep unless I take opioids and nerve pain meds. I have tried physiotherapy, osteopathy, acupuncture and I am not improving. I can't drive the car due to pain when sitting.
What can I do naturally for my neck and spine? Thank you in advance. Best regards. Alfred

Unforrunatel, his answer has been proven outright WRONG in newer scientific studies such as "Degenerative Disc Disease Reversal: Rethinking Human Physiology" from 2021 by Dieter Matthias Meier. To quote from the study: "This resulted in the growth of the degenerated disc, which increased the lateral angle between L5 and S1 by 80% coinciding with freedom of pain, free range of motion and an improvement of autonomic balance. This was documented by full spine X-rays and a pre- and
post-scan of the autonomic nervous system. Conclusion: This study shows that growth of intervertebral disc tissue is possible without the use of medication, surgery or cell transplantation and should be the beginning of rethinking functional physiology and the importance of translational medicine"

Hi doc! Thank you for the information.
I would like though to disagree with you on impossibility of regeneration (of any tissue in our body really, not only discs, and those deposits of calcium on vertebras etc.): maybe, indeed, there is no much of blood vessels bringing nutritions to discs, but *still* they *get* nourished *somehow*, they are living tissue and they would have been dead things if they didn't get nutrition, and there is nothing dead in our body, as far as I know. If we were to take the stress off a disc (fix spinal structure) it would inevitably regenerate.
I don't know (yet) wether you do or don't discuss dietary importance on this channel, but that aspect is quite important for our body's health.
    Great videos, thanks!

Let's be clear on what we are communicating about. In reference to tissues in the body healing and making changes, it is possible for all. In reference to thinning and degeneration of the disc structure, it is not possible to reverse in height and continuity.

DDD starts as early as 16 yrs of age. I don't think they regenerate cause I have not had full motion L to R neck movement now for 2 yrs. I've gone to physio, massage and now trying chiro. I'm doing the hang the neck over a bench with a round soft support under my neck, I'm also doing neck tractions laying down with a homemade device and am also turning my neck L and R to max and holding for 20 sec. I also tilt and hold my neck on both sides for 20 sec each. The hang over neck and traction are both done for 5 min each. I drink 8 or more glasses of water/day. I have Mild to Mod narrowing at C3-C4, C4-C5, C5-C6, C6-C7 and mild to mod changes likely C7-T1 but not ideally visualized.

My search was intended to find out what to do supplement wise after all the mechanical issues are fixed and my diet is KETO because I am type one and I wish to take as little insulin as possible to keep my glucose in check. I already take most of the basic supplements and I have increased my "C" intake for inflammation. I also am taking R-alpha for eight years as I had whole body neuropathy from 2012 - 2019. Some others I use are glutathione which I have used successfully to remove age spots and skin cancers. I also take hyaluronic acid, Niacin, B12, etc. I get many good aminos from raw A2 milk with added protein and raw chocolate for minerals.
So what supplements should I use to heal the damage from the grinding action of the disks once the disks are back to proper alignment?

I am sorry for commenting on an old post but just wanted to say I have cervical stenosis, cervical spondylosis, multi disc degenerative disease, lumbar stenosis and a herniated disc at the base resulting in many different sensations throughout the body. i struggle to know what to do for the best but all I can say is I still work (factory) mon till fri and like most, hate it, but I would rather be working than sitting at home or lying in bed, I do not feel the pain as much when indulged in something but always aware how to bend etc. What scares me is I feel most nights like I may wake up not being able to move. unlike most comment on this video I feel it give no hope what so ever so am doomed but I do strive on, if you seen me in the street you would think nothing of it simply because I look a lot healthier than men 20 years younger than me, but its that core that grinds you down, best wishes to those going through the same.

Hi! my L5 disc burst, so there is herniation and the disc looks at least half as thick as a 'normal ' one. My surgeon says that I should not get a surgery at this stage since physiotherapy is helping me and I have no severe pain. She also says that the disc, even if thin, will not get thinner since it will get stiffer. As I said, I lost lots of the 'gel' in the nucleus, but still, it seems that this broken disc will become harder and somehow more resilient. Does it make sense to you? Obviously with the physiotherapist I am mainly working on posture, core strengths and general mobility. I was told that my thin disc cannot really disappear.

As far as I understand, discs can and do actually rehydrate. This is why you’re the slightest bit taller when you first wake up, since the discs have rehydrated a bit while you were sleeping in bed. Therefore what I would suggest is to stretch out that spine while in bed just before you go to sleep at night.

I don't want to depreciate Doctor Mandel and his huge knowledge and great experience but he is not a God and also he isn't expert of spiritual healing and "mind over matter" philosophy which explains miraculous healings when medicine cannot help. If you believe in something, it happens exactly what you've expected. Quantum physicists also know that today and understand that all is energy which changes all the time. *Mild Broad based posterior disc protrusion of L4-L5 disc causing mild compression of thecal sac anteriorly and encroachment on both lateral recesses more marked on left side
*Mild facet joint arthropathy also observed at L‘3-4 and L4-5 level

First start moving, walking, hidrating, ( drink more than just to satisfy your thirst), start eating best nutritional food,( salads, kale, broccoli, onions, beans, nuts, seeds, fruits), stop sugar, deserts, white bread, etc, stop eating meat, cheese, eggs, etc.
After prepare for some fasting: stop eating breakfast forever; after 1-2 weeks, eat afer 18- 20 hours from meal to meal: ex eat at 18:00 and next meal after 18-20 hours next day; after 1 week eat one meal a day: at 18:00 and next day from 17:00-18:00, for a week; after that start fasting for a 48 hr; after for 3 days, after for a week. Go back to one meal a day for a week. Start fasting for 3 weeks.
Go back for one meal a day for a week.
      Fast for 3 weeks.
After that you start healing, continue to walk every day and start exercising Ci Gong for spine lower back and neck.
The explanation goes to fasting, when the body goes into a surviving mode and start scanning the whole body and repairs where is a problem.
Good Lock, I tell you from my own experience, I had from nowhere DDD on L5-S1 with severe spinal stenosis, bulge on L3, L4 and T1; Doctors have no solutions ather that fusion surgery, that is a disaster.

    • @emilghengeaua355
      @emilghengeaua355 Před 3 lety

when somebody decide to do fasting, don't warry you will feel hunger just on time of the meal that you don't take and just a mild hunger on the next missing meal, after that you can fast without feeling any hunger for many days of not eating at all, because your body is not living based on calories, but consuming your body fat.
In this mode, the body maintain a steady low level of blood sugar, so not a suddenly spike of insulins, that cause the sensation of hunger.

Guess what I am on day 9 of no catheterizing!! Turns out that the spinal cord being compressed on the nerves caused my retention.
