There are 6 caretakers for FUTABA, he is her best favorite💕
I have compiled short videos that I have already uploaded.
【About FUTABA】
This bird is the shoebill, named FUTABA.
Shoebill is native to Africa. Bird whose DNA resembles shoebill is pelican.
FUTABA lives in a bird park(Kakegawa kachouen) in Japan.
Kakegawa kachouen k-hana-tori.com/eng
This bird has almost no voice, so it makes a sound by hitting its beak.
This is called cluttering.Bowing and cluttering are said to represent intimate feelings.
The name "Futaba" was decided by open call for participants.
"Futaba" means two leaves (young shoots of a plant).
Because at that time her hairstyle was similar.

People saying Futaba is probably lonely need to do even a basic google search to see Shoebills DO NOT like being around other birds. In the wild, they choose to live very solitary lives.
They are usually born in a clutch of two. The bigger one kills the other sibling. I still think they adorable.

*This bird didn’t forget its ancestors were dinosaurs.*
I was just about to say, this is a living dinosaur. The way the Shoebill blinks and eats, even moves and looks, reminds me so much of a Pterodactyl.
Yes me too. That bird looks prehistoric.
@@TheBakingSlave Pterodactyls weren't dinosaurs ;-)

@@TheBakingSlave Because you've seen a Pterodactyl in their natural habitat, yea? Lmao...and they weren't dinosaurs. School apparently didn't teach any of these kids in the comments much past how to be a douche.
The first time I saw a shoebill, I immediately fell in love with them. There's something regal, yet prehistoric about them... and the fact that they're pretty docile, and bow as a sign of affection makes them even better 😁.

Same same! Absolutely can’t get enough of them!
I can see why she is so fond of him, treats her with respect and not like a teddy bear, even learned gestures and ways to communicate to a basic degree with her.
Shoebills are surprisingly somewhat friendly to humans - they don't shy away from us, and will even allow humans to come close to their nests. Just make sure to bow to them first.
@@unclepodger meanwhile anything the size of its beak including their weakest chick: *food* ?

That is how they greet and show respect to one another. They do this in the wild too
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
In Japanese culture bowing is such a sacred fundamental social gesture that it is easy to understand why the public is so fascinated by this bird!
I love how she stands and watches him with curiosity😭I also love how they respect each other and have their own way of communicating
He's a very good caretaker, but also an excellent presenter. He took advantage of every moment they were waiting for her to take the fish and get on the scale. He knows how to keep people interested, but he isn't chatty or overly energetic. He also respects her space, even when she wants to be close he makes sure he isn't stressing her or crowding her. Very chill guy.
That bird is kept awful!! In the wild they don't seek loud yelling parrots next to them as neighbors, sreaming all day, they need a water basin, rocks, tall lake grass, natural gras no gras matts no straw decor and s shed.... this is a horrible way to keep this poor bird!
@@deusvult2302
You got all of that from one single video, filmed at only a few angles? How do you know this is the bird's permanent enclosure? Don't animals in the wild live around....other animals that make noise all the time? What if this is just the Shoebills "public" enclosure, where it comes to be seen and studied by visitors during the presentation, and it has a separate space for nesting? Do you KNOW for a FACT that what you're assuming is correct?

Skit Bit - Side Split The only task he made her do was to get her on the scale. It is crucial to take the weight of animal to determine if they are losing weight or gaining weight rapidly. If the animal become underweight in a short amount of time, it can be a sign of parasites, Illnesses, or any other factor. Same for being overweight, any complication can occur. I would agree that it would be wrong if the caretaker made her perform anything else that falls into entertainment by teasing her with food. However, I don’t blame him for checking her health.
She's so patient and quiet in this loud aviary.
I hate this circus.
At least if you keep a wild animal captive then feed it with dignity instead of making a profiteering entertainment exercise for humans.
@@MuckylittlemeHe needed to weigh the bird and he’s teaching people about their mannerisms. To compare this to a circus is completely disingenuous and that’s coming from someone that’s against using animals for performance
This shoebill is a well-treated ambassador and will make people care about birds.
@@Muckylittlemeeh it's what you gotta do if you care about animals unfortunately, funding for wildlife doesn't come out of thin air and less and less comes from our helpful politicians. Wildlife conservations such as this do a LOT of work into repopulating endangered animals. A lotta species would be gone if it weren't for these "circuses" lol.

Why do I have to specify modern birds what other birds do you see outside?)
Well both. She's definitely a dinosaur, and if they ask she will kill them
All birds are dinosaurs
@@shadetreader I meant like it’s using a fake beak to hide it’s teeth
@@Juan-zi3qs the scary thing is, they don’t even NEED teeth to be ferocious predators like dinosaurs did. They scoop their prey into their beak, leave their mouth open just enough for the prey to desperately stick its head back out of the mouth and into the open, and then the shoebill clamps its bill shut and decapitates its prey before eating it all. Said prey includes CROCODILES. Everytime I find myself thinking that avian dinosaurs were kind of lame with their feathers and other bird like qualities, I think about shoebills and geese and other terror-bird wannabes and am instantly reminded how lucky we are that dinosaurs are so small nowadays.
Both
Futaba is quite smart. She seems to sense her favorite keeper before she sees him, and knows that he's trying to gets her to step on the scale. She keeps her eyes on him, and I think she's in love with him. I love to see her cluttering and bowing. 🙂

@@Muckylittleme Who is the guardian of whom?
What right do we humans have to subordinate animals?
I've been wondering this for as long as I've been conscious. We have debased intelligent and soulful animals, often more than us, to the point of having to rejoice because there is someone (the minority) who takes care of them. So sad.
@@nessy2000 I think the majority of people appreciate nature and animals.
It is a bit of anti-human perspective to selectively point out the worse traits without also pointing out the best.
Humans are the most complex animals on Earth and their consciousness and intelligence allows them to manipulate their environment like no other animal can.
This is a double edged sword as it can conflict with nature but also help preserve it.
No other animals concern themselves with conservation.
So it is up to humanity to understand our responsibility and take care of our environment but we must love ourselves first and foremost and ensure it is our best traits that are made manifest in this World and not the worse.

Birds are the only extant dinosaurs
My series on atheist myths proves that dinosaurs never existed. Free thinkers would consider it, but gullible jerks will just insult me.
@@scintillam_dei What proof do you have?
@@Incompetences The burden of proof is on the establishment to prove that its alleged "fossils" are real, but everyone who believes in them does so not because they proved they're real, but because THEY GULLIBLY BELIEVE THE ESTABLISHMENT. As for my burden, it's easy to meet by pointing to the fact that the dinosaur story contradicts itself saying that countless reptiles disappeared or became birds but crocodiles and tuataras didn't die out nor had to change drastically. That's a double standard. If there was enough sun for croccs and tuataras, then dinosaurs would still exist. They don't because they never existed. They were invented to fool people into rejecting Noah's Ark by there being too many creatures to fit and too big to fit. Also, aquatic monsters akin to dinos are part of that myth and none of them are here today even though the oceans have always been teeming with food for predators meteor or not.

A bare t true witness to what differences people may make.
the privilege to even interact with these kinds of animals, pandas, dolphins, rhinos, tortoises, are always going to go to the most responsible people to care for these endangered species
As a two time Umbrella Cockatoo parent, I can attest to how critical it is to become intimately aware of the subtle eye expressions and body postured of a potentially dangerous bird, even as small as a cockatoo.
Their bite force can be tremendous and their beak can slice like a knife. If you don't know their subtle attitude signals and you allow your bird to socialize, eventually someone is going to get hurt. And this can include 911 level injury.
Owning and sharing my life with Umbrella Cockatoos has been extremely rewarding. They are sweet, usually gentle birds that just like to hang with their humans and entertain them. But, like driving a Ferrari, if you don't know how to handle it, you really shouldn't own it.
This shoebill would never hurt a human they are so gentle unless you are food in the wild. Sadly 😢without us they may perish 😢 like the dodo bird so many years ago that would be very sad ❤❤❤❤

@Hotsam Noirchards exacto, yo lo que veo es que el ave sigue su alimento y quiso meterse a la cubeta con agua...es realmente triste de ver como el cuidador le esconde los peces y el ave tiene que esperar para comer.... Sad .. :(
@Hotsam Noirchards what does abandoning chick's have to do with an animal being intelligent?
@Hotsam Noirchards every animal in the world including domesticated animals if you aren't careful will do the same. If they think an offspring is sick or is to weak either they'll kill it by eating it or leave it to die. A wild animal doesn't have the luxury of taking its baby to the hospital like a human.
@@keewinter5752 They know they can only feed so many mouths and so they have survival of the fittest. Humans procreate til kids dying of starvation. We need to consider what planet can feed and have food left too for other species. Whales beaching from starvation. Part radiation killing off food supply. Fukishima going to let more contaminated water out so expect to see more sea creatures and sea plants we eat dying. We must be conscious that what we eat they do not get. Oceans can restock in Atlantic sooner but water on Pacific Ocean is heavily contaminated and will take very long time to repopulate. Plus big fish get more contamination from eating higher levels of radiation from eating multiple layers of contaminated fish. Imagine tbe billions the Pacific fed so protein more scarce as Pacific is essenti as lly dead. Need to eat more vegetables, and non GMO food. Eggs, fowl, meat, which I as many do not eat mammals. Israel will control protein ss making lab grown meat muscle than killing wearhouse raised animals. But will lack much enzymes and other nutrients. Some cultures eat huge portions of protein, esp meat I saw in restaurants when travrling in Europe, than needed. Shall we changr our habits or let people die or rid them.

They're ambush predators in the wild, meaning they patiently wait, still as a statue, until a meal passes by and then they strike (though she seems to move slowly, if she were to strike it would be lightning fast). They can stand perfectly still for very long periods waiting for a meal.
