      If you free the little alien BEFORE getting the berries, you can observe the alien picking up berries where the carnivorous vine is, and later before getting in the water, you see it rubbing the berries on its body and jumping in.

    KQ 1-7, QfG 1-5, PQ, SQ 1-6, Phantasmagoria, Leisure Suit Larry, Freddy Farkas, Torin's Passage... All Sierra games, all are games I've played and enjoyed. I wish they would rebuild and buy their properties back from Activision.

    I got stuck for an entire summer on the hold breath when ducking under the water. Oh to come upon against the impenetrable barrier of a pre-internet Sierra adventure game puzzle. Then one day the solution occurred to me, and it was like travelling to another world!

    • @andystandys
      @andystandys Před rokem +1

      I know... It was crazy back then. If you didn't know somebody, personally, who had played through the game and could help you, (which was unlikely,) there was no way to get any help for these games - other than ordering a hint book. (Which I had to do for King's Quest III...)

    • @Fronzel41
      @Fronzel41 Před rokem +1

      @@andystandys Unfortunately I think Sierra did this kind of thing deliberately to sell those hint books and calls to their hint-line. It doesn't make much sense in this case. If he wasn't holding his breath wouldn't he swallow water right away instead of getting as far as he can?

    • @leow637
      @leow637 Před 4 lety +1

      It takes so much patience, these games were short, but designed to take ages to complete through trial and error.
      I just find it weird seeing it in colour. I played on a black and white amstrad and never knew the game had colour...

    • @Y2Kr4SHM4N
      @Y2Kr4SHM4N Před 3 lety +2

      @@leow637 That’s crazy! I remember finding it strange at the time that everyone else’s displays were green and black or orange and black.
      I had an Amiga 500, and most games were the quality of the arcades at the time, with fully synthesised music.
      So the beeps and highly pixelated graphics were a huge step backwards. But, being able to interact with a story, rather than another action arcade platformer, was still groundbreaking to me as a kid. It was very cinematic.

    • @movie0007
      @movie0007 Před 4 lety

      Well, the problem with most of these adventure games is that you aren't given any hints or help. You're literally a character on screen one, with 3 objects you could interact with but you have no idea what those objects are, or where they are at. I used to play this and I never knew about throwing the rock at the guard, until I seen it in this video.
      Sierra adventure games are awesome, don't get me wrong. King Arthur and the quest for the holy grail, took me a full year to finally beat as a kid. I was stuck at the part in these catacombs where there was a small mummy or figurine in this cutout in the wall, wearing a medallion that you needed, but you couldn't just take it with your hands, because of the vile rats. Finally I figured out the command, 'use sword on medallion' and King Arthur uses his sword on the edge of it so that it slides on the sword.
