Hi. Prince was competitive. He was also an athlete. He earned a scholarship in basketball when he was in school. But he turned it down because he was a musician since he was a little boy. Actually Prince won the the ping pong challenge against Michael. I remember the 80's well. The only thing good about that time was the entertainment. It was hard being a Prince fan, because unlike Madonna and Michael Jackson, Prince did hardly any interviews and I wanted to know everything. Michael and Madonna were always in the tabloids, so they got a lot of media attention. Prince was just an extremely private person. I think that because Prince was so private that he and Michael probably had more of a phone call relationship. That's the way it was with Madonna. And remember when the accusations against Michael came out Prince was one of the few entertainers to speak out and say nothing been proven yet. I remember when Prince died, Latoya Jackson called her mother with the news that Prince had died and they both were very upset about that. They were very different in so many ways, but they also had a lot in common. Both came from large family's, both were Jehovah Witnesses and both were in the entertainment industry. I was never a big Michael Jackson fan or even a " Jackson 5" fan, but I know they were hard working and talented. MJ would send Prince rare footage of James Brown, Nicholas Brothers and other legends they both admired. They also hung out, Prince even had tickets for MJ's This Is It concert, he's also listed as one of MJ's character witnesses (just never needed).

First of all, the voice is considered an instrument, second, I used to play the guitar and bass during my teenage years (not anymore tho), and I can say that almost anybody could become a really good player, with a lot of practice and dedication obviously, but the voice, that's something you just gotta be born with in order to be that good, which in my opinion makes it even more special, and Michael Jackson, damn! whoever says that that man was not a musician shouldn't even be talking about music.

Hi. Prince was competitive. He was also an athlete. He earned a scholarship in basketball when he was in school. But he turned it down because he was a musician since he was a little boy. Actually Prince won the the ping pong challenge against Michael. I remember the 80's well. The only thing good about that time was the entertainment. It was hard being a Prince fan, because unlike Madonna and Michael Jackson, Prince did hardly any interviews and I wanted to know everything. Michael and Madonna were always in the tabloids, so they got a lot of media attention. Prince was just an extremely private person. I think that because Prince was so private that he and Michael probably had more of a phone call relationship. That's the way it was with Madonna. And remember when the accusations against Michael came out Prince was one of the few entertainers to speak out and say nothing been proven yet. I remember when Prince died, Latoya Jackson called her mother with the news that Prince had died and they both were very upset about that. They were very different in so many ways, but they also had a lot in common. Both came from large family's, both were Jehovah Witnesses and both were in the entertainment industry. I was never a big Michael Jackson fan or even a " Jackson 5" fan, but I know they were hard working and talented. It's so strange how the three biggest artist of the 1980s were all born in the same year in the summer. Prince- June 7, 1958' - Michael Jackson- August 1958' and Madonna- August 1958. One music critic said there must have been something in the water that year in 1958, lol. " He wasn't kidding"!!!!!

He's also written his fair share of hits by himself ie Billie Jean/Beat It/Smooth Criminal/Liberian Girl/Black or white/Earth song/They don't care about us/Wanna be startin somethin'/Dirty Diana and more.

MJ was always a very sensitive guy but he was even more sensitive in the later years of his life (which was when he lived in Las Vegas, after the 2005 trial that broke down his spirit). I think MJ took it as a slight, whereas Prince was just saluting him in his own way.

This is old news to Prince fans they were often seen at each other's concert MJ up front and Prince at the side of the stage. MJ would send Prince rare footage of James Brown, Nicholas Brothers and other legends they both admired. They also hung out, Prince even had tickets for MJ's This Is It concert, he's also listed as one of MJ's character witnesses (just never needed).

The human voice is a musical instrument. Professional singers, particularly operatic, generally require extensive ongoing training in the use of their voice as a musical instrument.
If the definition of musician is one who uses or plays a musical instrument then singers are by definition musicians....in yo face!!! no buzz off :)
First of all, the voice is considered an instrument, second, I used to play the guitar and bass during my teenage years (not anymore tho), and I can say that almost anybody could become a really good player, with a lot of practice and dedication obviously, but the voice, that's something you just gotta be born with in order to be that good, which in my opinion makes it even more special, and Michael Jackson, damn! whoever says that that man was not a musician shouldn't even be talking about music.

+ERGSEG I dont know why people keep imagining a friendship that never existed. They were two people who had a lot in common but simply different end goals. They were both competitive but not in a bad (hiphop) kind of way. We've seen this kind of rivalry play out in schools, hey even at the workplace. Its actually a begrudging adoration. Now if MJ himself said the two were at odds, ummm, then it goes to show they were. Why would Will I Am make it up? It certainly doesnt serve him to do so. Maybe MJ's children will one day write a memoir and tell us a side of this story. I know MJ and Prince used to check out each others concerts and works when younger but it was sort of keeping up with the competition. All in all, i find it interesting that MJ was so open to friendship in his younger days but Prince wasnt but as they grew older, MJ became distrustful of everyone (rightfully so) that (perhaps) even an innocent gesture from Prince who had by now chilled out, wasnt well received. Sort of a reversal of roles. Seeing the trajectory their lives took (MJ seeking to rebuild his childhood and Prince hellbent on avoiding Hollywood), could they possibly have been friends. Then again, their religious and musical goals esp on owning Masters were similar. Its odd coz you see MJ in his older days hanging with a lot of artists. He's with Stevie Wonder a lot. But you never see him at anyone time hanging with Prince. Even attending this Rio event took a middleman so where exactly is the so called friendship?

She will have the normal c-list stars as her friends but she either wont or cant have A-list stars as close friends e.g. Rihanna may see Taylor as too childish and goody two shoes but envy her success esp with sold out tours whilst Taylor may admire Riris free nature from afar but abhor some of her extreme acts. Maybe thats not the best example. Like right now, Beyonce has started her formation tour while Riri is on the anti tour. People are comparing the two. Im sure both artists may be cordial with each other but with each review they get of them being compared, a sense of competition grows, inhibiting a chance at friendship.
