The 1956 edition of the Michelin Guide devotes only a few lines to the Ouled Naïl mountain region; Djelfa is not even mentioned and the Ouled Naïl people are "mere courtesans and Oriental dancers".[6] French colonialist representations of the Ouled Naïl concentrated almost exclusively on women who temporarily left their home and settled in some nearby town.[15] However, none of the highland tribes to which they belonged were specialised in prostitution[16] and only some Ouled Naïl women became dancers. Still, the exuberance of their ornaments and the exoticism of their costumes added to the general fascination.[16]
Auguste Maure, an orientalist photographer that lived in Biskra was active from 1860 to 1907 and took many photographs of landscapes and cities of south Algeria (El Kantara, Sidi Okba, Chetma, Tilatou, Tolga, Touggourt). Septimus Severus emperor of Rome was a Berber, the first Novelist in the world was Afulay. Your movie is misleading. member100xy wrong. North Africa has always been inhabited by people of Mediterranean type for more then 100 000 years. The latest genetic analysis have proved that Carthaginians are berber. They probably a reminiscence of an ancien civilisation, lost long ago. Phoenicians are sea people they never settle. They establish Trade post that’s all. After the 3rd Punic war, many sought refuge on the mountain of the Aurés and Djurdjura. Black are from sub-saharien but has always been welcomed by Berber who traded as equal with them for thousands of years. Arabs brought black slavery to North Africa.

ORPHEUS II those that anthropologists classified as Europid, Hamitic, Mediterranean, and caucasoid do not necessarily expressed Europeans or even the modern fair skinned inhabitants of North Africa and the Middle East. The inhabitants of North Africa and the Middle East had only recently became a multiracial population recently. These two regions had underwent demographic changes for the last couple hundred years or so, no more than the beginning of the medieval ages. The Berber people with no exception, has always been referenced as being black skinned and having woolley hair by Europeans, Syrians, Perisans, and even the inhabitants, in some degree. During the course of the medieval period, many Eurasian populations began to settle in North Africa, for a variety of reasons. Many merchants and traders from Syria, Persia, Iraq, Anatolia, and Europe, began to settle the coast as immigrants, along with countless refugees of some shape or form, from The northern part of the Levant or just simple immigrants coming from all places of Islamic world. But one of the main causes to the demographic changes of North Africa was slavery, mostly the recruiting of solders from the Balkans, Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, Southern Russia, the Caucasus, the Levant, Iran, and Central Asia for Islamic armies, thus the Mamelukes are an prime example, white slave solders who will eventually create their own country. Although black slave solders were common, Eurasians were the vast majority os Islamic slaves, in fact there were three main places where slaves came from. The Balkans, Central Asia, and Southeast Africa. Now on the phonecians and Sea people, the Sea people were not one group but conglomerate of different populations, which were a population from the Aegean, thus the Temehu(white Libyans), the Libyans(Tehenu), indigenous Libyans, and the Philistines, who are related to the Phoenicians. Again, like I said, North Africa and the Middle East were not the stereotypical melting pot as everybody makes it out to be, these places only recently mixed.

    BERBERS ARE OF SLAVIC ORIGIN!
They became " primitive" after Arab, Ottoman and W Europe invasion . This is what Herodotus wrote about them :
"According to Herodotus, the ancient Libyans ( Berber) were the first to know civilisation, and no one knew of Poseidon and Athena before them. Among the things invented by the ancient Libyans are the wheel, the chariot, and the banking system (the Berber fortified granaries of today).
The advancements made by the ancient Libyans in the fields of art, science, mythology and in many other aspects of human culture require decades of work to catalogue.
In later times the Libyans comprised two major groups: the agricultural population of the coastal regions, and the shepherds or the nomads, of which Numidae is the Latin form.
The Numidae of the Second Punic War were essentially the Berber tribes of the Masaesyli and the Massyli, the subjects of the Berber kings Syphax and Masinissa respectively.
The Numidian kingdom of Masinissa eventually included all of Tripolitania. In the 7th century Libya was invaded by the Arabs, who, with the later help of European colonial intruders, ended up dividing North Africa into Arab countries such as Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.
The term "Arab" was introduced into Libya's official name for the first time in history by Gaddafi when he renamed the Kingdom of Libya "The Libyan Arab Republic" in 1969."
