This helped me immensely. I am a lazy player, and only for my own enjoyment for the most part. This gave me a kick, and was fun.... I grew up in Houston in the 70's, and every other song on the rock station was from ZZtop's first 3-4 albums. When they did Eliminator I was still along for the ride. They kind of lost me with the Sleeping Bag era, but it's all good. I've even met Billy face to face a couple of times. Once in a bar in my 20's, and then a restaurant in my 40's. Both times I could hardly speak correctly, lol. They were a HUGE influence on my playing, so that's why I am here.

Tim Pierce is an awesome teacher, his love for playing the instrument is so obvious, but the best thing for me is he has a way of teaching solos that make seem them much less daunting to attempt.

Glad to see the respect for Billy. He has a pretty good musical history for those who think it is only as deep as ZZ Top. I got to hold a few of his guitars during a photo shoot at the Rockefellers in Houston many years ago. We lived in the same neighborhood though he is 12 years older.

These lessons are awesome - wanted to mention, if anyone else sucks at playing an open chord arpeggio backwards quickly like I do, there are other ways to play that lick at the end of the verse after the D7. From the live videos it looks like Billy Gibbons goes back up the neck for that part.

sorry nut i hear alot of double string stuff when billy plays it and so do i when playing it in bars , it just fattens it up to use the two string enhancements,,,, it helps the notes hang better in space if that makes any sense and especially when muted ,,, notice he stop muting when he is teaching this lesson although the song is mostly muted , good lesson though i just like giving the extras that make it detailed , hope this helps some one ,,, seriously try to use two string when doing the end parts of each phrase

RIP Dusty Hill. Anyone else have band practice tonight and got a text from the drummer saying "we should play Waitin' For The Bus" then came here? This isn't as bad as I thought. First solo stays on the riff in A, then modulates to G (same riff though) then modulates to E (same riff) then back to A. But the timing though? these guys think in increments of time that i just can't quite wrap my head around. Impeccable precision. Still, thanks for the lesson I'm off to rehearsal fully armed.
