This place is on my bucket list.
It's really worth the visit. Everyone there is very friendly and knowledgeable and they completely welcome photography and videography. Just no flash photography in the museum. It's right near the Steelyard Commons shopping center which provides several places to shop and eat before or after your visit. You'll enjoy yourself. And it's only $13 for adults to tour the house and museum and I believe $11 for kids.
You'll have a lot of fun. Heads up - you have to buy tickets across the street to go in the house

I love A Christmas Story movie. Every year I watch A Christmas Story movie on Christmas eve and Christmas day for 24 hours will watch it. I even have the leg lamp my cousin got me for Christmas one year years ago.

I Like the Museum
This is my youngest aunts favorite movie too I am going up with her and her boyfriend and my aunts daughter to see the house and I am excited
A line in that movie my mom liked using:👩🦳Don't eat that til it's done cooking or you'll get worms👉😬Used that line on me when I ate a meatball too soon from simmering pot of sauce for Sunday spaghetti dinner.🍝Or she thought I was eating too much candy.Must've been one of many Momisms standard warnings like catching the"Double Pneumonia"lines.🌫🌬🥶

My father grew up in Chicago at the same time the movie takes place and he said the movie was just like his childhood growing up back then.

I went there this past weekend. Most of the movie was actually filmed on a stage in Ontario Canada and so was the school
Were the outside shots of the house in the original in Cleveland as well? Because I heard the only locations were around the Toronto area. I'm from BC, so it's like of a north/south thing in the US, except that it's not an intelligence thing in Canada. We're all pretty smart people.
@@christhornycroft3686 The Department Store Scenes and those of the Christmas Parade were actually filmed in Cleveland as well.

That house is pretty sweet just as a 1940s themed house, even if it had nothing to do with a movie. I read today (12/17/22) that the house and all of the surrounding related properties are for sale. The asking price wasn't given but was believed to be in the eight figure range.

I was in the REAL house that the movie is based from. It's in Hammond ind. I was borned in that area in 1960 and the movie brings back soooo many memories.

I was there two years ago, and it was all fenced in could only see the front of it, No trespassing signs all over the property as well as across the street, because of all the movie fans. And the house was listed for 3 million dollars.
great house I got the Christmas story movie at my apartment
Grew up on 19th and denison. I recognized the plant in the back (wrecked my bike on the steep hill going down to where it was when i was about 7) you don't forget that thing. So i went back later and drove up and down every street until i found it. I was tickled pink. Stood on the sidewalk where the old man was arranging how far over the electric sex in the window had to be moved. This huge black guy asked me why i was taking pictures and i told him how it was the house. He stood there for a min and then got really excited. Said I'll be right back - I'm going to get my wife and kids. It was just the sweetest evening i ever had in my 55 years 😊
I drive by it everytime I'm in the area now
I saw the movie when I was a kid and I remember it was showing at our local 1$ discount theater but my father had a stack of half off coupons so we saw the movie for 50 cents each. My dad was cheaper than the Old Man in the movie.

sad to see this isn't handicap accessible. I wanted to bring some clients with me but I'm glad I looked at this video to see if wheelchairs can get in.
If everyone who is watching this video is interested in all of the Filming Locations for A Christmas Story check out a Fan Film called "Road Trip for Ralphie: A Christmas Story Documentary" which you can stream it for free if you pay for Amazon Prime or you can buy the movie and it shows all of the filming locations and they even found the filming location for the Chinese Restaurant scene.
Note - The location where they had filmed the interior scenes of the Parker Household was at the time known as Madger Studios and the building is still there. It's located in Toronto on 793 Pharmacy Avenue.

i have been watching a Christmas story movie since i first seen it in the movie theater when it came out in 1983 and still watch it every day from Halloween to new years day .that's nice that they watched the movie frame by frame but it still doesn't look like the movie house inside not even close i know that the inside of the movie house was shot on stage .but come on they should have put a little effort into the design of the inside maybe watched the movie while they were building the inside all the rooms don't match with the movie and they are in the wrong place . i visited this house and was very disappointed in what it looked like inside
