That's right, he shouldn't do clown acting live. When he used to have real bands before Spellbound, he lived up to his name. People want to see him play because he's Yngwie and not a hop around. I have no idea what happened to him...

After 40 years others have figured out how he plays more than I think he has. look around this is clear. Others break down the positions, scales, licks, picking, rushing and dragging in such details it is amazing

yngwie was happy with himself at the end of this performance. understandably.
audio doesn't match the fingers on some parts
I can hear audio overdubs at those parts. The tone sounds different for a couple seconds.
Yeah. Seems odd to overdub a performance for something like this but guess he wasn't happy with those parts..
yeah i noticed that as well. especially apparent between 4:37 - 4:47. Yngwie still rocks!.
I picked up on that too. There were times where vibrato could be clearly heard but not seen, and a few arpeggios as well.
it's a Yngwie trademark at this point... Every live video he released there were quite a few of those
This course is a unique opportunity to watch him play in close up and analyse in detail what happens. It's worth the effort, because he's one of the best metal/rock guitar players. He's an intuitive player who 'just does it' without explaining formally and slowly in detail how to. Many great talents are like that. So you must know the various picking techniques in advance, and then this is a good addition and completion of that knowledge. It is therefore a master class. I've always liked his rather classical approach to rock guitar. My goal is to play what he does cleanly, clearly, without distortion and rhythmically perfect, so still more classical. I doubt if it's possible. Fast playing, pedals and overdrive often hide a lot of imperfections. But I consider it a challenge of lesser importance. Playing good music is what counts.
It doesn't make sense to learn distorted parts, clean. Picking attacks and techniques are applied differently in such case. You can't use palm mutes because it won't sound right. Just use minimal distortion like his early tone.
@@unleashthefury111 (Palm) muting is necessary for any amplified guitar, even an unamplified accoustic with much resonance and sustain. There are minor differences between playing distorted or not, but that amounts to using the same techniques slightly differently. A good (picking) technique is universal.

What to expect from YJM? It's obvious that he would complicate things and go beyond the usual. The melody is different. The picking is artificially economical and the digitation purpusely hermetic. Hahaha. That's how the Maestro is! Amazing guitar class as always!!

Those descending harmonic minor licks used to be mostly picked on the old recordings with only some strategic pull-offs, now he seems to do those almost entirely legato, just punching that last note with the pick.
Malmsteen.., je l’écoute depuis longtemps. Cette version de cet toune ses la plus harmonique que j’ai jamais entendu.. là plus dur à mon avis.

Yngwie is a virtuoso.... and no doubt my favorite guitarist of all time.... but he was clowning in this video..... I'm not sure if he played ANYTHING the way it's supposed to be played.... lol.... still, he was a true pioneer in the early days.... nobody could touch him back then...
He's played this so many times, I'm sure he has no idea what "supposed to" is anymore.
He always plays his songs differently every time. Improvisation is a big part of his playing

Dear lord, it just does not look human.
I can say many great things about Yngwie. He's one of my idols. I've watched live in Leningrad over and over with my jaw hitting the floor every single time. But I've always thought the rhythm in his licks is not so accurate sometimes.
That's one of the things I love about him
One can say the same thing about Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix (to name a few), as well. Yngwie is a structured and disciplined "free spirit" with classical music and his interpretations of it. I ALSO think it is because he frequently uses a drum machine and the timing on when to start and stop a lick/run may be ever so slightly off as he has to "wait" for a passage to begin. Live, the "problem" is usually because he is running around and doing the showmanship stuff.
It is ok that rushing and dragging is like a singer they are over the beat also. This adds to his playing I’m my opinion it does not subtract from it

I wish he would play things straight, as in exactly as recorded. His early recordings were insane but also very refined and I feel like when he improvises he tends to overplay. Still amazing playing but I appreciate note for note performances personally

I have to say, I am disappointed I bought this. I love Yngwie and most TrueFire lessons, but this was marketed as “Lessons”. Just look at the titles of the videos. There is no instruction at all - which is what a lesson is. It is just Yngwie playing his songs with 3 camera angles.
You can find all the tabs for these songs free online. It's a real treat to see his hands up close. I'm self taught and I mostly learned from watching the hands of the greats and then developing my ear. You put a few sources of material together. You get your youtube videos of people giving lessons for these songs. You listen to the song. You watch the master play the song. Not much more to do here. You're not expecting him to slow it down for you and explain in detail all the theory behind his songs are you? Ill make it easy. Diminished scale and Harmonic Minor minus one note. You're welcome.

I understand your point. Many talented people are not so good at teaching. That's a different skill. There are people who studied Yngwie in detail. I recommend the excellent book of Chris Brooks: 'Neoclassical Speed Strategies for Guitar'. It can serve as a manual to these video's.
@@mer1redyou're correct on that part, he's not a teacher. It's a trait that many of us don't have. At this point, I don't think I'd buy this, not a knock against truefire, it's just that there are others who go more into depth about the techniques yngwiee (and others) use to get their sound, like the aforementioned ones, and Troy Grady for example.

Imagine there was a technology where Yngwie could rent out his guitar talent so anyone could play like him for 24 hours. I don't think it would be cheap but man I would only stop to drink some water and just fast.
