This soundtrack is a mix of traditional Georgian/Caucasus and electronic tunes. This is a song that represents a country in transition; Georgia broke away from the Soviet Union a decade earlier, and it wants to steer itself away from its Communist/Socialist past. Unfortunately, the ghost of the Soviet Union still haunts Georgia, not entirely because of the ethnic and territorial disputes of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, but rather by the country's strategic geography and political situation.
Historically, Georgia had been shaped by political and ideological infighting, often divided by royal and noble figures fighting among each other, even during the Tsarist and early Soviet era. If Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was the USSR's 'Texas' (Oil), Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan being the Soviet version of the 'Midwest' (Cash Crops and Electricity), and Ukraine is the USSR's version of 'California' (Breadbasket and beautiful landscape), then Georgia is the Soviet equivalent to 'Washington State'. Similar to Washington State, Georgia is infested with separatist movements, but unlike its American equivalent, Georgia is a tiny country that cannot afford to be assimilated by any nation whatsoever.
Whenever Georgians are not fighting among each other, they're often muscled out by far larger and stronger nations, such as, the Persians, Mongols, Cossacks, and eventually, the Russians. It's like living in a cute little house, but you're almost constantly being integrated with larger and richer real estate. Who wouldn't be deeply upset and defensive after centuries of living under so many different empires and given little to no chance to be yourself?
That's been Georgia's situation since antiquity.
Fast forward to the opening of the 21st century, Georgia finally gets its the chance to do whatever it wants, not what someone else wants. The traditional Caucasus instruments - the chonguri/panduri (Georgian lutes) - remind the listener that Georgia still has its own soul, but when you get the faint sound of police sirens and billowing gusts, there's this unsettling feeling that something is just not right. The percussion instruments that follow after 0:18 indicate a mysterious disturbance, and that continues until you get to 0:38, where you have a low and repetitive tune; the metaphorical gears are now beginning to turn.
Georgia wants to show that it can truly punch above its own weight, and in the Splinter Cell universe, it would seem that's the case; however, there's the lingering suspicion that the source of this tiny nation's power derives from a forbidden secret. This soundtrack fits this description, and not to mention, it sheds light on a tiny piece of this country's rich yet unfortunate history. At the time of the game's release (2000), it was impossible to imagine that a small country with enormous technological might would nearly bring the world to World War Three, but in hindsight, the implications and destructiveness of cyber warfare is a frightening reality.
But in a huge twist of irony from the game itself, Georgia fell victim to Russian cyber warfare in the Russo-Georgia War. Weeks before any shots were fired and blood was spilled, Russia attempted to create an information crisis, similar to how Georgia in Splinter Cell created an information crisis of its own to mask its invasion of Azerbaijan. Information can act as a smokescreen, both to smear and hide your enemies; however, like smoke itself, information can be as equally dangerous to its user as it is for the enemy, and in the case of cyber warfare, the last thing you want to do is keep any sensitive data around for too long - it can be used against you when found or it might mutate and turn against you.
Holy Shit brah!
Can you make your own CZcams channel where you explain the Soviet union 🤔🤔🤔😳 you write amazingly
@@jyorgbjornsen seriously I just got a free lecture on the socioeconomics of Georgia in like 20 seconds. Absolutely outstanding
You have to be a truly delusional leftist if you think Washington State is the center of right wing secessionism...
No other games bring out commentary like this. That was interesting to read. Cheers to 20 years of Splinter Cell!

"Sorry about that".....
I fucking loved the original Splinter cell games and a big reason why is the music and ambience so tense I remember it so well you just don't get that in games these days.
there was a slowness to it - not all flash and bang and boom but exhausting suspense, sit and wait and watch, hope you don't get caught
"I speak to Vyacheslav Grinko or nobody....ass." Always loved that part lol XD
haha that was my first thought when this track started just now
“GRINKO!”
“yes sir...”

@@MrFunnyHandsInYourPants With Captain Stone? Aye I remember that game.
@@RescoeZ Yup! That's the right game!

WHO IS THAT?
LAMBERT- Fisher. The sun's down. Time to go to work. Finding Agent Blaustein's our first priority. You're a locate him through a local NSA contact.
FISHER- I'm on my way.
LAMBERT- And stay off the streets. There's a heavy cop presence in this town and we don't have Washington's backing if this turns into an incident. Details on your OPSAT.
Thanks lambert

GRIMSDOTTIR: Sam, Grimsdottir here. I say jump, don't ask how high, just do it; you should get through this fine. There's a room directly across the hall. Go there now.

Whenever I want to give myself an anxiety attack, I listen to Splinter Cell soundtracks.
Lambert: Blaustein’s heart stopped beating 43 hours ago!
Fisher: Any reason the CIA wouldn’t know about this?
Lambert: Nope.
Fisher: Nice of them to share.
Lambert: The subdermal went offline six hours after he died. Last active position was in a police station a few blocks away. Details on your OPSAT.
LAMBERT- Fisher, I’m rescinding my street level restriction. We’ve been monitoring the T’Bilisi police radio. These cops are crooked as a Virginia fence. They’re not gonna want any more international attention than we do. Every road is open to you. Do whatever you gotta to find those missing spooks.
I love this game so much.
@Simon Fork favourite game of all time.

Playing this on 5.1 surround sound back in the day. 😂 Sneaky sneak. Use to try & go all stealth at night in my house late at night thinking I'm a Splinter Cell agent as a kid. 🤣
Same!
@Ádám Király good Lord fisher. The relationship is over 😂😭😭😭💀
I forgot how atmospheric and tense SC1's OST was. As a kid, I was legitimately scared of getting spotted by the guards. They didn't fuck around 😭
Georgian thug: “Put Grinko on. Because those are my orders. I speak to Vayeshlev Grinko or nobody...ass.” 😂
Bad guys: "Who's there!" "Must have been nothing..."
Still great all these years later. SC1 is right up there with Chaos Theory in my favorites of all time.
did you like pandora tomorrow ?
Pandora Tomorrow is good, but it has some unpatched gameplay frustrations that made me not like it as much, among some flaws.
Also, it's abandonware on the PC, where I do SC1 and CT nowadays.
@@michaelandreipalon359 I'm with you on this exactly. Even if you can get it on PC it's very buggy. I also don't like the voice actor and general audio downgrade in many cases.
That fucking nostalgia... Thanks! This music reminds me of my childhood spending hours on this game!

"Did you check under the bed?"
Of course I checked, there's nothing else here!
I absolutely love every soundtrack of the first SC game, but especially Georgian Streets, it's so atmospheric just like Training Assault Course.
I'm so happy that I started playing Splinter Cell with the first game, Chaos Theory doesn't have ambiences and soundtracks like the original
Fuck this is some nostalgic PTSD type shit. I love it but dear holy boy I’m shitting my pants from the anxiety.
i bet after 9/11 but in 2002 when this game came out i bet you Sam fisher was out finding whos responsible Sam Fisher is a Great man from America

It’s getting a remake?
i don't think its come out. ubisoft soon die as company.
I love this game so much, I played it at least once a year for the last couple of years ( I don't know since when I started this 'tradition') and I am going to do so, I just cannot get enough of it. When I start playing the first one I just love doing a run of all splinter cell games excluding conviction and blacklist ( I like them both but not that freaking much like the others)

Love god and love all people. 😊Believe in the gospel Jesus Christ for Jesus Christ shed his blood and died for the sins of the world and he was buried and rose again from the dead three days later. For Jesus Christ God almighty and the flesh and if you believe in the gospel you are spiritually reborn into the family of God.
