Today I learnt the word Djent is an "onomatopoeia" meaning a word that sounds like the sound. i.e. : boom , sizzle,smack.or pop...Djent is the sound of muted Guitar playing. NOW YOU KNOW .. AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE !!!!!!!...and that's one to grow on !
I believe Periphery identify as djent, even to the point that they created the term (despite claiming that Meshuggah invented the word).

Periphery don’t identify themselves as Djent and misha mansoor on multiple occasions has stated it’s not a genre, throughout the years they’ve made an attempt to distance themselves from the “genre”

Nono, syncopation (an irregular rhythm) is found in the drums (usually the kick pattern) and tends to be matched by the other instruments.
