    I also noticed that. What am I talking about, great video editing, music selection was good, quick and to the point. Except 1 minor detail, the actual latch itself, we'll it's up-side down. But no- worries, it's all good.

      Made for left/right swing but also anti sag, so, it can go either way.

    Actually, I was intrigued by the drum beat right away. Very catchy! The instruction was nice and simple. I am ordering this same latch. Thanks much! :) I am saving this video so I can go back and listen to the music again. Isn't it funny how we all have different tastes?!?

    Awesome video good learning experience had some trouble with the in-laws busting down my gate and beating on my door so now I am beefing up my front gate to almost bulletproofing it using a heavy duty latch lock thanks for the video

    Its great to see someone using hand tools and plug in drills . usually everyone has an assortment of power tools that take all the fun out of it and cost a fortune .

    Please explain why would one install the latch striker/bar (which can be easily removed) and have the ability to lock the latch on the outside of the gate? I installed the the same system in reverse so both the latch striker/bar and the ability to lock the gate can be done within the inside of the gate.

    Goes to show you that just because you use a drill motor from 1976 that you can still make a quality CZcams video

      Yup....my favorite drill (corded) of the 5 or 6 that I have. Better than all of the newer ones. It has seen many projects. Thanks!

    Thanks for the video i’m just disappointed that you need to have a big gap between the post and the gate for it to work

    Does it matter if the latch is on the inside or outside?

  • @TooManyCatsRyan

    Will it latch on it's own momentum if you swing the gate shut (no hands) or do you need to be holding onto the gate while you close it for it to latch properly? Thanks!

    Can the other side be locked? Wtf?

  • @celeazarable

    Is this applicable for a gate that has a big space?

  • @barfpuker2732
    @barfpuker2732 Před 2 lety

    You put the latch on upside down. When the spring fails in about a year the latch will hang open.

      I did it the way I wanted it to work. Works perfectly. Spring still intact after 4 years. Thanks for the comment.

    Does it matter which way the latch releases(moves)? Either from the bottom or the top?

      Works which ever way you prefer.

      @@BackroadHankerin Actually, it's supposed to work so you can grab the handle and open the latch at the same time with your thumb. Your installation doesn't work as the latch should.

    Can you put a lock on it?

    • @BackroadHankerin
      @BackroadHankerin  Před 6 lety +1

      Yes, there are holes on the outside for a padlock. On the inside, the lever has a hole but there is no corresponding hole to match up with to lock them together, without adding some kind of bracket to the post, which probably wouldn't be too difficult.
