      The float tube changed the game for me. One of my favorite ways to fish. Fine do not mind you at all either. I have two now, the one in the video, a v-shape, and I used to have a round one. The round was the least comfortable.

    I have a fish basket with pool noodle zip tied around the neck to keep fish in that I catch. The noodle keeps the basket afloat. I use 12 ft of para cord to tie the tube and basket together. No worry of a puncture if I go catfishing.

    I have the same float tube as well! I find it better to put the tube on like a diaper and back into the water for sloping shorelines like that though. Also I suggest getting Blakemore's rod floaters for when you drop your rod by accident. It might not seem too important but I lost a $150 combo while putting my fish into the keepnet once.

    • @jaimeastin
      @jaimeastin  Před 8 lety

      thanks for watching. I am still considering rod floats... I have lost rods before... angers me that such a simple solution could be used... with all the things I do for prevention, I guess losing thr rod is low on the list these days. now my issue is leaving knives, lures, and other items on my lap. then when I get up to leave the water, I dump all in the murky depths. that makes me more upset. I used to back in with my round float tube. I still do in certain conditions. this launch spot was a little more tricky with such a steep decline and then that drop off... I usually do not fall, lol.
      thanks for commenting. I will get those rod floats very soon.

    TRANSDUCER MOUNT: A few days ago I came across one of your vids that convinced me about the utility of a Float Tube.
    Now that the time has come to buy one, I find myself back on your channel with some questions.
    My wife loves to fish on the Colorado River in Parker, AZ, but rarely has any luck catching anything, so, while at the swap meet last weekend i saw a beat up Float Tube and thought, 'Man, that is a bitchin idea.
    Since it was beat up I did not buy it, but I stayed focused on the idea and when i got home I found plenty on CL and Ebay. I will buy one later in the week when I find a good one at a price that works for me. Your vid convinced me about the utility of a FT.
    While researching the Tube Floats, I ran into Fish Finders and thought, maybe that will be an aid for my wife in locating fish?
    After more research, it seemed like I would have to spend another $100 to buy a fancy transducer mount for a FL until I came across a Hawkeye Fish Finder that operates on a few AA batteries with a transducer that is just tossed in the water-no mounting to anything. The more I thought about it, that unit seemed Mickey Mouse,. Today when I again came across your vid discussing how to make a battery pack using 8 AA's, I am now focusing on a Garman Stryker 4.
    Looking at the first YT video that brought me to your website, your introduction to FL's I noticed that you did not mount your transducer to a fancy transducer mount, however, I can't make out what you did, so here is the challenge, can you tell me and others how you made the contraption?
    Thanks, Joey

      Joey Duran
      Hi Joey,
      I love fishing from my tube.rge striker is a nice unit. I am thinking about getting it as well. I have a Garmin echo 200 & 151. As you saw, I power them with 8AA batteries. Did you see the video of my fish finder mount? I made then so that they are portable. The transducer floats and hangs over the side. The fish finder is mounted on a cutting board (cut to size).
      I put the fish finder in one of the pockets on the float tube along with the battery. The transducer is thethered to the side and floats.

      Well thank you for watching and subscribing. I have a lot of fishing videos in the tube. The tube is like an easy chair to fish out of. It is my most comfortable method of fishing. I have not fished out of mine in a couple months, but the action will kick up in the tube as summer ends. I fish that mostly in the fall, winter, and spring.
      Any questions you have, just ask and will answer as best i can or make a video :)

      @jaimeastin  Před 4 lety +2

      I just mounted it on a piece of cutting board. It is powered my 12v via 8 AA batteries. The transducer hangs off the side. What I do is take some pvc or conduit pipe, slide pool noodle over it, run para cord through it, then ziptie my transducer to it. I just tie it off and let hang/float by my side.
      I have so many fish finders set up this way. I do this on my float tubes and kayaks.

    • @jaimeastin
      @jaimeastin  Před 8 lety

      +Haze well I have not. I would think that would be s little scary, lol. depends on thr water though. anything moving would not be ideal. you do not move very fast in the float tube. I test my strength and endurance sometimes by going further or full speed to see what I can take to get out of thr water fast... it is some work in mild water. I see why you asked about anchoring off now.
      I don't know what water you are looking to fish, but be cautious. wear s life jacket... maybe even tie off to the shore. what kind of fish get in this water? what kind are you looking to catch?
      I just bought an intex mariner 4 inflatable boat, it is really nice. I will still float tube and kayak, this is just an extension. check out my channel as those videos are new.
      no question is too silly. ask away and thanks

  • @grandwonder5858
    @grandwonder5858 Před 8 lety

    Do you have a problem with lures snagging into your tube and puncturing your float tube? Or a big fish with sharp teeth might bitting into your tube? Maybe even bumping into sharp rocks and deflating your tube? Those are the kind of things that worry me and the reason I'm still not committing myself into buying a float tube.

    • @jaimeastin
      @jaimeastin  Před 8 lety

      I have not snagged a lure in my tube(s) or had a fish destroy them. I have used them in brush piles and not had an issue. Where are you planning on fishing with it? I am now in Arkansas and I just keep saying I would never use one here... So many snakes and turtles. Don of the CZcams channel "Winkiedoodles" using a tube like this one and others in his state Missouri and does not have any issues. He catches bass, panfish, catfish, and has not had any issues.
      The float tube is so versatile and to me the most comfortable out of my kayak and inflatable boat. It is like an easy chair in the water... It is just slower to move around. I love that I don't need an anchor and will tred water to stay in place.
      Thanks for watching,
      -JaimeAstin
