Why Minecraft Legacy Console Is The Best Minecraft Edition

- When the argument for the best Minecraft edition comes up, for most people 2 versions come to mind. Bedrock and Java. Both of these are heavily debated on which is better, and each has their upsides and downsides, but for me I think there’s one version that is better than both. Yet was abandoned by Mojang. Minecraft Legacy Console Editions.
But which Minecraft version do you think is best?

Good stuff man. Love to see ya back!
Java because mods and redstone (no hate to other editions)
Java and 360
Legacy Console Edition for the Wii U
I currently play java and perfer java to bedrock out of the current options but legacy console is better than all other versions in my opinion
Legacy console edition is just objectively better than bedrock if you aren't playing on a newer generation console. Bedrock is supposed to be optimized but on console it's a joke. Opening menus, loading dimensions, and just the overall movement on consoles like the ps4 and Xbox one feel delayed and clunky. Legacy console edition was built with consoles as the main platform so it feels much better to play.
Yeah bedrock is so painful to run on console I hate it, it's less bad on pc though
Bedrock on a new XboSX takes forever to load.
The new controls especially are a joke. There was nothing wrong with the old crafting menu and it was extremely convenient to have Y open your inventory and X open crafting.
@@tankmchavocproductions6907 yeah the crafting is so slow on bedrock
You are the first person I’ve seen to actually understand this problem
i really love the old console version, aside from the tutorials and custom maps, no one can forget about the iconic minigames with tons of maps and secrets on the hub
I can't believe I forgot to mention the minigames, they're my favorite! Might have to give them their own video
Agree 100percent that made my childhood
when i moved from legacy to bedrock i was so surprised there was none of the tutorial maps or texture maps, they were such a special part in the minecraft experience to me, it’s a shame it stopped now
You can switch back to previous version
What I liked about the 360 edition was just how small the worlds are. There was a closeness in servers because there was only so far you could go. Factions were never huge distances and everybody could easily reach anyone else. That and you were almost always in a party with the host and other players.
that is something i always have loved
yeah, they need to bring back the world and biome size options from CE. IK there's lot of people that don't want infinite worlds for realms, plus sometimes people go really far out and do game breaking things
10 y/o me thought being able to fly in survival alone made it worth it.
Legacy console would have been so goated with infinite world generation
They need to bring back the flying in survival
true
I hated it back then especially when you consider the Wii U (where I played) only had a world size of 896 blocks, but now I realized I have built my worlds way compacter. If you had the option to choose the world size, like the biome size that would have been great.
@@DragonGamer-ly3lf world sizes where a thing, only on ps4 and xbox one though. It was default (896), small (1024), medium (3072), and large (5120, or basically imagine a full map size, but it's a 5x5 grid which is the size of the whole world)
My first minecraft game was the legcy edition it was on the psvita version it came with ps3 version and it included cross save feature that you can continue with your save progress of your world on different consoles by transferring your save progress to your current console. Awesome video ❤
Thanks!
@@RielyMC that's ok. ❤
Despite having been a Java edition player primarily, legacy console holds a special place in my heart, it was awesome
Ps4 dead ass is probably the best due to it being updated the longest before being axed i also love old poket ed
God battle mode was so good, best hunger game mode I ever played
oh yeah i remember, i think it was cause PS got bedrock super late, so 4J was still working it. It's the only version that had shields i believe
I think legacy is the best version for its atmosphere and community built around it. Loved the video welcome back :))
Hi Jeroo lol
Yeah the legacy community is great, glad you liked it :D
I also love Console Edition.
To me, Console > Java > Bedrock
yeah, the only thing that sucked was that we got updates way later, there were so many things that held the game back but it's still one of the best versions
I totally agree! Not only it had exclusive features, such as the mashup maps, textures, minigames, tutorial etc, it also felt the most polished and "connected" as you said. And, differently from Pocket... Bedrock Edition, it was made from the start as a Console Remake faithful to Java Edition, and so basically everything good about Java came to it, like Redstone:
Legacy has quasi-connectivity, actual update order, world tick clock and various minor tweaks from Java.
Legacy has also multiple features from Bedrock, that aren't present in Java
So really, as you said, Legacy was a definitive, all in one package of a game that felt high-quality. In contrast, Bedrock Edition felt so weird, still does. It feels kind off like playing Java on a laggy server, and it has so many bugs. Legacy was better than Java. The only update that for me didn't achieve its equivalent Java version was 1.14, as it was rushed to be released only on PS4, so they didn't fully implement the new villager whispering system. But imagine if Microsoft/Mojang weren't greedy, and continued to update the Legacy up to now, even eventually adding cross-play between consoles (like ps4-xbox1-switch). It would have been the best. Thanks for reading and for the video!
Edit: And no horrible unresponsive Microsoft accounts on legacy!
I was lucky enough to buy Minecraft for the 6th time on the switch in 2017 like 1 month right before bedrock was released, so now I have an official way to play legacy portable. Even if its old I still play it more than the other versions especially with friends locally.
Nice
You can choose whatever version you want with Java
Yeah that's fair, I guess a few years ago I may have felt like I cared about the next update and then I fell into the modding pipeline and since then, the next update has never really been on my mind, because there are so many good experiences on older versions in the form of Modpacks on things like 1.12 or even the more recent 1.16.
Everyone has their own favorite, and that's what makes life so freeing and good.
I started on Java but eventually played the legacy edition on my PSVita and jesus the memories. The game was polished so perfectly and had high framerate no matter what. The game ran so smoothly and I LOVED the hud for it. No mods werent really seen making all players fair. The mini games and tutorial worlds were so goddamn good. I will forever miss inviting my friends to my world while being on a party.. Thank you Legacy Minecraft.
I love the Battle Minigame of Minecraft Legacy 💜
It's so much fun
w vid underrated asf
thanks man!
For me its XBOX ONE edition because it brought me to the game
I agree Bedrock has plenty of glitches. Such as sometimes its most loved feature playing with friends causes most of it. For no reason I logged back to my friends world and I started dying for no reason! It also glitches when you mine, place and open things. Like it breaks the block, but you don't get the block? Then it replaces all the blocks that you mined and possibly breaks your torch and your stuck in a wall suffocating. That last glitch I seen while experience playing is I was crossing water and got to my friends base and I was apparently drowning??! I was out of the water standing in a base. The game thought I was still swimming and sunk me to the bottom. So I lost all my stuff. I went back to the water and oddly my stuff was there???!! This is why I play legacy. The online features are still available on it. Which is great to play with friends and best of all I don't think I've experienced any glitches besides if someone makes it glitch like throwing too many potions on the ground, spawning too many animals, or if the hosts connection isn't that good they may have to restart the game once in awhile. Please whatever you do don't play with friends on Bedrock...
I truly love this edition and think it is a work of art. Nostalgia aside, it had the best features of both games at the time, and even more exclusive features like voice chat. The minigames were extremely unique and fun, and it overall was my favorite Minecraft edition before it stopped development. It's nice to see other people who also find that this game is the best of the 3. Out of the few versions of Legacy Console I played I found that the Wii U one was my favorite. The extra maps and skin packs were amazing and I think 4J Studios did an amazing job, even better than Mojang did, on this game.
Does anyone else remember that there used to be an endportalframe recepe in legacy console edition?
wait was there?
@@RielyMC yes (before the combat update so long time ago)
To answer the closing question: because it makes them money
That answer is correct for most things in life tbf
I grew up with the PS3, PS4, PS vita, and 360 versions. They give me an overwhelming sense of nostalgia and warmth. I’m getting the PS3 Minecraft again soon and I can’t wait to finally switch from Bedrock to that!
I've been playing minecraft on my ps4 for the last week, and I have already died twice because I glitched out while pillaring up, and thrice glitching out while trying to sneak bridge. One of those deaths was my hardcore world 🙂
Man that's really unfortunate
Wait. This is sorta unrelated, but how did you get the old villages on Minecraft PS4?? My PS4 version is updated and stuck on 1.14 so I only have the new villages. Not that I mind, but I'm on a huge nostalgia trip and I miss the old villages.
I first played legacy on wii u and made a lot of friends. Im only friends with like 2 of them today :( but i sometimes start up my wii u and revisit the old survival world i used to play on with my friends in 2017. The memories flowing in every time is crazy. Not to mention the minigames i loved the battle minigame and i can surprisingly still find people playing battle on the wii u. It was the best version imo compared to the disorganized mess called bedrock edition :/
The Best Version of Minecraft is Legacy Console Edition. Even I still play it and since I have a PS4 there are still online functions so I can play the mini-games and it's so good everything was good I love this version
My favourite edition is Legacy, but specifically PlayStation 3 Edition. It's where all my memories are, and it has my favourite Mashup world which is the LittleBigPlanet one as that game is also a big part of my childhood, and my main skin on PS3 is from that pack. PS4 Edition also has these things, but as PS4 is on 1.14 (Texture update and Village and Pillage) it just feels a bit too new and doesn't quite fit the Legacy editions which is why PS3 is a great option for me as it's on 1.13, so swimming is easy but it still feels nostalgic and has programmer art textures.
Another issue with modern minecraft updates is that, although they often add new content, it feels devoid of purpose. I haven't interacted with any of the new mobs from mob votes or update mechanics in my recent playthroughs because there just isn't any incentive to. They just feel like meaningless additions, put in to pad out an update.
Bedrock is based on the pocket edition of old and I think it shows, the UI is awkward to navigate, especially on console, microtransactions.
the physics are different for example Throwing objects simply doesn’t work the same on bedrock, the redstone is different on bedrock too. for some reason I find that bedrock looks strangely over saturated and smooth, I personally prefer the slightly washed out and jagged look of legacy console plus because 4J understood the pros and cons of each platform they developed for they were able to design well optimised versions of Minecraft for each console.
my personal favourites are Minecraft XBOX 360 Edition, Xbox one edition and PSVita edition.
I mostly Grew up with 360 Edition so it has a lot of nostalgia, I used to play superflat creative worlds and build random stuff with my sister all the time on her XBOX One and I also owned PS Vita edition, I used to play it all the time on the go and even remember Building stampy’s rocket on PS Vita and then wondering why it didn’t work
Personally I do prefer Java edition now. But I think the Legacy console edition was the best Bedrock version, its just such a good port. 4J Studios really did Bedrock best.
Legacy console edition wasnt bedrock, it was a complete remake of java for consoles by 4J. Bedrock is made by mojangs secondary studio and was basically used as justification to kill the 4J studios partnership around 2019-2020. You can kind of think of it like the minecraft engines, legacy console, bedrock, early bedrock (pocket alpha + pi edition), etc, etc
Sorry for the history, It just makes me sad that mojang killed the better version of minecraft and replaced it with bedrock
@@lucidpolygons love a good bit of Minecraft history lol
@@lucidpolygons essentially yes
@@TiredNull are you stupid? LCE was an entirely different game, with several UI changes and features from java edition, official minigames and maps, and it always ran great.
bedrock was a huge downgrade. even the day the better together update released. it is/was just the phone version of the game ported to consoles. we lost the official minigames in favor of featured servers, which had no guarantee of staying up (mineplex and pixel paradise have both shut down).
the controls on LCE were made for controllers, while bedrock's controls, especially in the ui, were made for touch screens. instead of pressing a few buttons to do something like disable fire spread, you now have to type in an entire command with a controller.
also, the term bedrock was coined in 2017. years after LCE released. bedrock edition is named after the bedrock engine. LCE was not made in the bedrock engine, therefore it is not a version of bedrock. LCE was made in the lwjgl engine (basically java).
Xbox One edition is the best because it doesn’t have the aquatic update
What's wrong with the aquatic update?
@@sisigs4820 Ugly water and drowned, mainly.
Minecraft Legacy is my favorite and forever always will be. I grew up on the old Pocket Edition Lite, and then I moved on the PS3 version, and that was my childhood. The game may be outdated, but's the perfect version of Minecraft to come back to. No controversies, no modernization that makes it unenjoyable, and no major performance issues.
Yeah the performance is way better than I thought at first, I'm emulating it rn on the worst laptop and it's had no issues at all
@@RielyMC That's awesome
Literally me but i played Xbox one
While I do love the Legacy Console Editions (mainly the PS3 one) and that was the version i play as a kid, I can't call a version with limited world size the "best" one. I'm giving the "ultimate version" title to Java 1.7.10, which to me felt like the last version which followed Notch's vision closely
Legacy is better than bedrock, and honestly im definitely biased by nostalgia. But ps3 l3gacy with battle minigames and glide amd spleef is better than java
I wish they kept on making them and made a PS5 and Xbox Series edition
I still have the Xbox One version on my old Xbox One S and I’m not deleting it
4:47 what are those shaders?
Here's the link to it www.curseforge.com/minecraft/shaders/nostalgia-shader
My Favorite edition of Minecraft is Wii U , its the first edition ive ever played and the Best.
The minecraft Ps4 edition is the newest update village and pillage. It is very fun and less laggy then the regular minecraft
Niceeee
This is all true though
The xbox 360 version is still very active!
I grew up with ps3 edison, witch is the same as xbox 360
Ngl most of these glitches anit present on switch bedrock at least not in my experience
Legacy minecraft Xbox is og
I never played legasy edition but I can say this. On my Nintendo switch Minecraft runs porly and super lagy. I do not like it.
But on my pc I have a lot of fun. But the reasion I bot minecraft on switch was to get a different feel of minecraft. But it's just like pc and navagating the menus are soo finicy. Like it wasent made for it.
Minecraft one switch is horrible
ah yes porly
w opinion but Java better
Minecraft is minecarft but I respect your opinion
Minecraft java is playable on android my guy solid framerates at 6gb ram
