I rarely click on these videos any more because of the click bait. And it’s not even necessary! Mention Derrick Lively and three pointers and I bet you get as many clicks as the clickbait without alienating your most consistent viewers. It gives channels that “National Enquirer” vibe that nobody likes. I don’t trust channels that clickbait, and I damn sure don’t trust sports channels that click bait.
Clean it up, bro. Do better.

I realize the Mavs news is sparse in the off season which makes generating content much more difficult. I watched the first half of this video, but I didn't learn anything new. I skipped ahead to see if you were getting to your point, but I didn't see anything of substance. I might be wrong though.
Rehashing all the news and rumors feels lazy to me. It's like you've already decided that you're going to post content even when it's old news. That waters down the quality of the content. Combine that with click bait titles, and you're going to start alienating your subscribers. Ten minutes is a long time to sit through, so it's gotta be worth it.
My uninformed amateur opinion should be taken with a grain of salt, but I think you should post less often to get the quality up. If there's news to report, maybe consider covering it with a much shorter video. Get rid of the fluff. I'm not sure if you want to keep this channel as strictly news, but you might consider challenging yourself by throwing in an interesting opinion piece from time to time. This will give you the opportunity to be creative rather than going the easy route by recycling old news. No matter what happens, I do hope you continue to grow as a channel.
@@MavericksDigest One more thing. I'm unfamiliar with Grimes and Marshall and the young French guy the Mavs drafted. I've been trying (and failing) to find videos that break down their play style, strengths and weaknesses, and speculation on how they fit the team.
I appreciate the feedback. I try to post videos on topics as soon as they’re relevant, or if there was a conversation I had with friends that I thought would make a good video, like this one. Also, I understand not everyone follows the mavericks closely, some people are finding some of this info for the first time from my channel. I never claimed to be a reporter or a journalist so all my info is second hand, but I also try to break down info, give my opinion, and try to look at things from a different angle. I don’t want to regurgitate the same talking points as other creators or even major networks like ESPN. I try to stay as original as possible.
In reference to this video, I thought it was a good idea to talk about lively since he will be the starting center. The roster is changing so lineups will change. Gafford to the bench, but will he still split his time, or will lively get more minutes. Not only will this channel make videos on news and topics, but it will also look over the team, the roster, and anything small that may be worth talking about, like lineup and roster changes.
I understand that this channel uses certain words that are exaggerated in the thumbnail or title, but I try my best to make sure the actual video is of good quality. Whether you didn’t learn anything or felt like the video didn’t announce anything new, is fine. Because there are people who are getting this info first hand from me. The last thing I want to do is use a title or thumbnail to trick my viewers into catching. But I will advertise my content to stand out and attract attention.
But it’s ok if my channel isn’t your cup of tea. There are other CZcamsrs that do similar content to mine that you may enjoy more, and that’s ok. It doesn’t upset me. I want all mavericks fans to find content that they like best that isn’t ESPN or any major publication that doesn’t do the mavericks justice. But I appreciate your views, comments and critique nonetheless. (Make sure to drink water)
He doesn't need to shoot 3's. He needs to develop a post game and a nice mid range jumper. That is the problem with KAT. He stands out on the 3 point line waiting to jack up 3's. Lively game needs to be inside getting offensive rebounds and getting easy put back.
He obviously likes 3s so why should he hold himself back? KAT don't have real heart or that killer instinct. D Live is tough as shit. Tyson Chandler didn't have a post game. D Live has Embiid-like upside.
@ericheffner112 I'm not saying he can't get a 3 point shot. I'm just saying it is more important for him to get a post game and midrange jumper. And to always be closer to the basket to have a better chance at getting boards. The mavs have enough 3 point shooter. What's more important, your center getting offensive boards or shooting 3's?

Hope they still split lively and gafford minutes, gafford can still do some things lively can’t and having a 7ft+ guy on the floor too much opens them up to injuries
DLive has a lot of things to work on, but I believe he has the ability and work ethic to fix all of them and become great. I've seen Gafford struggle a lot with pressure, and I wonder, will it motivate him losing the starter position and potential mins, or will he become worse?
I think Gafford will get better as long as coaches make it an emphasis to put him in those sets in practice. Will he lose belief in himself if he loses minutes? I don't really think so, he seems to be a pro in that sense. Seems like a guy who puts his all regardless of mins
Gafford doesn’t struggle with pressure, he’s simply a much lower IQ player than Lively is. He isn’t able to make great decisions as quickly as Lively is, so you need to limit his usage in ways you don’t with Lively. That will mostly be in playoff situations though Gafford will be great during the regular season helping to cleanup perimeter defensive mistakes and keeping our defense solid
DLive put those numbers up on a minutes restriction , fighting thru injuries and as the 2nd big for half the season

D-Live can shoot the 3-ball. Maybe some midrangers too. I just hope the coaching staff don't limit his offense too just being a lob threat. It's a waste of potential. The Mavs should definitely weaponize his jump shooting over time. He doesn't need to shoot like KD or like the other shooting bigs like Chet or Wemby. Just a being decent but consistent 30-35% is enough to keep the opposing defense guessing.
If he could learn to do what KP did to us inside the arc? (even just a lil, that'd be cool)
Nico did say he needs to be competent enough in the painted area to be able to take advantage of a mismatch. I second that. He's shown decent touch around the bucket, develop some basic footwork/post moves as much as the three pointer.
Why is he only shooting 50% from the free throw line?
Lively was fantastic all season long. He is one of the most important players on Dallas Mavericks roster. If he adds mid range shots and 3's it over for the league.His rookie season was near as good as Luka's.

with luka and lively now having NBA Finals experience (i don’t care what big games he’s played in before, there is nothing like the NBA finals) a been there before vet in both kyrie and klay i think they have the most spiked roster in the West unlike this last finals where they only got there because of star power. now they have star power and a balanced roster
Only problem in the west right now we should be afraid of is OKC. But any other team in the west im confident our mavs can win against.
@@quetz6335Why should we be afraid of a team we just beat on one of the biggest stages when our team wasn't as good as it is now and Luka was injured? They are good but we have the tools and experience to beat them. Outside of kyrie we had the 3rd youngest team in the NBA, so them taking leaps do to youth doesn't scare me. Our team will do the same. We are just starting.

Dlive is pretty nasty. A lot to expect from a rookie. If he can shoot the 3 and defend on the perimeter better this year... good luck. I hope he can match up with the mavs trajectory. We’re all or nothing for the next 2-3 years. Great analysis as always M!

Before you get out over your skis any further - Olympic ski jumping is 2 years away in Italy - Lively needs a general offensive game makeover. I know he’s super young, but he needs some mid-range moves and shot making at a minimum; any basic 3-pt shooting would simply be a plus.
Idea: The Mavs send him to Hakeem Olajuwon for the Summer and have him learn footwork and a drop step. From there it’s a simple jump hook and a turnaround jump shot.
If Lively developed a skill set like Hakeem, the league would investigate the Mavericks lol.
Great reply - and you’re 100% correct. I just threw it out there because Hakeem used to do one-on-one camps with folks to develop some skills to get them to the next level. Ironically, it has been reported that even non-post superstars like Kobe and LeBron went to work with him to develop some back to the basket moves and to polish footwork for offense at the near and mid levels.
The Mavs have an opportunity for :
Dlive- 15ppg
Pj:15ppg
Klay:20ppg
Kyrie:25ppg
but can only happen if Luka brings his scoring down to around 28ppg
Luka will have to be focused on his teammates shot before his and idk how they could lose
I’m not that interested in Luka forcing passes to enable lively and PJ to score 15ppg. Lively needs to show a semblance of offensive game outside lobs. Low volume 3 point shots is not taking him to 15ppg. Also if PJ is scoring 15 ppg shooting as bad from 3 as he does that means he’s taking bad shots that id rather Luka take. Only way I’d be interested in PJ upping his scoring like that is if he goes back to being a 38%+ shooter from 3. Maybe he can but he’s got worse every single season as a shooter since then. Luka forcing passes to them when their offensive games aren’t good enough does not make this team better. Klay will bounce back to 20ppg only if his defense bounces back. Otherwise his minutes will be too limited

I’m very excited for Omax I love pj he’s kne of the fav players but omax has potential to be an all around better PJ which is wild I still believe pj has a lot of room to grow and hope we can keep both for years to come
His defense is amazing.
Start season Luka, Irving Klay, PJ and Liv as starting 5. Depending on health hopefully those 5 will be our regular 5. Now depending on Liv staying out of foul trouble and we need him in the 4th qtr Galford should be our 1st off bench to protect Liv. Grimes, Naji, Exum, Hardy and OMax will get quality mins in rotation to see which 3 step up to earn those mins in regular season. IMO Maxi should play the lowest mins starting out the season from last year role players. Regular season cut back Luka's and Irvings mins to max 33mins. Klay, PJ, Liv and Galford max 30mins. Not sure what we are going to get from Grimes. Naji, Exum and Hardy and OMax they got to get al least 8 to 15mins each. We got to find out who can earn starter mins and who can hit the 3 open shots. OMax and Hardy hopefully will step up and give quality mins.

Lively could evolve to be our next Sean Marion. A 2 way player with inside-out game and all around defense. Yes they play totally different positions but the athleticism and length is there

If Lively is hitting 3’s I say insert him into the starting lineup, because a 5 out offense is a killer to the zone defense. However, if he’s not shooting 3’s, start Gafford.
Lively didn’t statistically outperform Gafford in the playoffs, go look! I mean, it was a reason why Gafford stole the starting role at Center.
Any news on OMax, we need him to be our point of attack defender.
Defensively the sky is the limit, def DPOY potential. But offensively ppl are overreacting to a made 3 pointer and some practice shots. We aren’t even in the vicinity to talking about anything offensively when he’s simply shown nothing of real substance outside of rim running and good decision making as a passer in short roll. Even with an ok 3 point shot that skillsets is far too limited right now to project anything from him as a rounded offensive player. All I expect from him is to up his rebounding shot blocking and overall defense. Talks about him avg in teens points and knocking down 3 pointers is WAAAY premature

Hakeem ‘s moves need to be studied as well . If the Mavericks can’t get him to teach , at least they have film. Dunks are great , but sometimes they are not available , you need to adjust to the circumstances.
fundamentals never hurt a basketball team. 3 ‘s are great , and that’s the b nba now , but it’s still 5 on 5 and if you can play chess verses checkers 5 on 5 can become a chess game.
I think we will see DLive pick and pop action for this season or at times, face up game.
