I made this video, as since the information from Evan that Megs will be a Tank, I've seen so many posts in forums and group pages, where people are basically crying that Megs will not have that signature alt mode from the 80's. We know this isn't possible, and was really surprised to see so many people fighting for it.
For my part, I think it'd make more sense to make him an artillery cannon. Obviously he can't be a handgun, but I think an artillery cannon would make more sense for Megatron's body shape in general. Tanks have too many extra _bits._
Besides, Galvatron is a futurey, whiz-bang artillery cannon, so why not.
@@JetstreamGW That could possibly work. I think the Tank mode is only chosen as that is what he is known for in many of the modern series in recent years.
Just don't release it then, inaccurate to 86, pointless release
They should add a gun mode Megatron in the form of an accessory to 86 Megatron so you can give it to other figures to hold.
That what I have been saying too and make it so any G1 Transformer can use it.
there was an accessory pack for the War for Cybertron trilogy that included that
Masterpiece Soundwave did that right?
@@TheDaxter11 I was thinking the same thing
@@OneYuDBZSlayers agreed
I'm ok with tank mode but his robot mode has to hide all the tank parts.
Totally agree. They have to make the best bot mode ever to really nail it.
Problem is that the bot mode has too much Walter P38 Kibble to really turn into a tank. And past Tank G1 Megs have issues with the treads being kibble. Yeah. I am going 3rd Party for this release.
It has to complete to consumer safety.
I agree. I will probably not care at all about the alt mode I just need him to have the greatest bot mode ever. I will either find or make a fan mode of his gun like bumblebee movie megatron.
I like the G1 Megatron gun mode even though it looks weird but I'm open to the tank Megatron transformer. If anybody still has the OG MEGATRON gun mode, keep it. It will the last time you'll ever see it again.
I never understand why they can't just make Megatron a laser cannon like Galvatron. At least it'll be something other than the same tank mode we've been getting for years.
I agree. I don’t care about the gun thing. I would live it but it ain’t happening. I just don’t like him being a tank.
I had the original gunmode Megatron when I was a kid, loved that thing.
It can still under the new requirements by the consumer safety commission what the designers said was a lie.
I had one as a kid as well. Long gone now though ;(
They should have made 86 Megatron into a space artilary cannon similar to the Man from UNCLE Walther P-38 mode. I don't see the Tank mode fitting into the appearance of Megatron in 86 Robot mode.
Make a tank Megatron. But don't call it 86. He did not turn into a tank and killed Brawn, Ironhide, and Ratchet.
Just have the gun mode as an accessory, that's accurate
And prowl.
The MP Megatron is a gun. I understand why American lines have to have Megs as a tank. A tank is technically a rolling gun, right?
Yeah Japanese releases can be G1, as they simply have different laws. The Tank mode is just more acceptable than the gun mode.
Why not make a completely new alt mode for Megatron to surprise everyone? While still keeping the bot mode 86 Movie accurate.
@@kevinhung6687 That could possibly work, but I think it comes back to the "biggest gun" argument, which always leads to a tank 🤪
Biggest GUN? That would be a railgun on a battleship 😉
Here’s a wild idea… They should make a Megatron that transforms into Galvatron that can also transform into Galvatron’s alt mode!!! 🎉 A la Punch Counter-Punch, 2 bot modes and 1 alt mode 😊
@@kevinhung6687 a good potential option for sure. That being said, it's Studio Series "86", did they have rail guns back then 🤪🤪🤪🤪
@@TheSwishPOP I did a quick Google and railgun was first designed in 1918 and first practical application was during WW2. So the answer to you is a resounding YES.
I got a Walther P38 and polished it knowing that Megatron is a 9mm from the U.N.C.L.E. and I love taking Megs to the range.
Correct and functional I’m going to talk to the wife about that.
Reports keep mistaking people for demanding to have Megatron as a gun and insisting that a tank is stupid. The vast majority do not mind Megatron having a different alt mode from G1. What they mind is having a movie accurate Megatron that is not remotely movie accurate. If it can't be done movie accurate it should just not be done.
State law doesn't superced over federal law and the California law doesn't over blanket Texas gun law. We don't know what the other details on what was really was happening when they made it. What they said is certainly not true under the rules by the Federal government.
The issue not many people know about 3:03 gun laws and the people on the time index are not telling us the truth. I just learned this discovery. Just putting a orange dominant color like orange doesn't meet all the few requirements.
Then don't stick him in the studio series 86 line and say he's g1 accurate when he's not.
Honestly I know this suggestion is too obscure for a studio series figure but I wish 86 megs would have that heavy metal war concept alt mode that was cut from the original episode. It was where Megatron would transform into a jet like Starscream and have his cannon at the bottom. That alt mode feels more authentic than a tank they shoehorned in for every new g1 megatron. But then again the kibble would probably be harder to hide than a tank. I just hope ss86 megatron basically hides any resemblance to a tank in bot mode.
The issue isn't Megatron having a Tank or a Gun mode (mostly). It's Hasbro putting a modern alt version of Megatron in a line that's meant to focus on historical accuracy and trying to call it "G1 Megatron" when it clearly isn't. In the past, Megatron transformed into a Gun, and no amount of retconning and strict gun safety regulations will change that fact. Hasbro is trying to have their cake and eat it by doing this. They knew that an official G1 Gun Megatron wouldn't be possible yet still attempted this. Clearly, a few extra bucks was more important than common sense....
Personally, I prefer Megatron's alt modes to look more alien and not-of-this-world. It gives him a more imposing definition to compliment his role as the leader of the Decepticons, an "Evil Tyrant", and juxtaposes Optimus's alt modes.
fair point. I think theyre doing this though because Legacy is ending and it wouldn't fit in there, and they want to improve over the Siege mold which has been used to death and isnt that great. So they want to give us something.
@@ORLY911 Then just make it Devastation Megatron
@supersonicmario56 its not saving a couple dollers its stopping the company from getting shut down for breaking the law as stated by EVERYONE who makes a post/video on the topic
@@CraZeeJef I meant making a few extra bucks.
It's understandable that they can't break laws and most don't have an issue with Tank Megatron. The issue is that they're putting something that isn't G1 accurate in a line that's supposed to be all about G1 representation. If they couldn't make a fully G1 accurate Gun Megatron then why bother attempting? The obvious answer was greed.
@@supersonicmario56 My point exact. Especially when Hasbro has done targetmasters (recently in Siege line) and a NERF collab for ROTB.
We need a screen accurate bot mode. Dont care what the alt mode is as pong as it hits these three area
1 doesn't ruin the bot mode (kibble, weird angles that deform or limit posability)
2 is recognizable as an actual thing not just a folded up robot or a robot in a shell
3 it has a secret 3rd form that can resemble a gun (like siege shockwave)
Hasbro: SS86 megatron will be a tank
Fans:WTF WHY? JUST MAKE HIM A GUN
me: have you forgotten why he has a tank mode now?
Hahah Awesome!
@@TheSwishPOP accurate description
If the laws of the country prevent you from doing cartoon accurate figures, just don't do it. We don't need a SS86 Tank Megatron. I've made peace with not having an Hasbro Cartoon accurate figure. They should just not try to do an SS86 version. If they'd release the new figure in Legacy, no one would bat an eye.
This isn't a hasbro thing. It's literally illegal.
@@teeveeparty Agreed. people don't get it.
Under what federal law is it illegal?
Mostly because stupid kids from the 80's would point their toy guns at police officers while playing outside and... well... we generally all know how that kind of situation turns out.
In addition to the realistic gun design. There is also the licensing fee for the walter p38 gun manufacturer
@megazaracklordofdeath Yup, and the fact that the manufacturer may not want to license to a toy company due to the potential for bad PR.
Personally, I’m perfectly fan with a Megatron that turn into a tank.
I hear ya, As long as the Bot mode is amazing
@@TheSwishPOPFlying cannon would be cool. It let's the decepticon army use Megatron's cannon while flying.
I have a TakaraTomy Masterpiece MP-36+ Megatron. The + is the chrome version Walther P38 pistol.
Just get a 3p Megatron pistol mode to take the place
Correct, There are a ton of options on there, that aren't officially from Hasbro.
I think Hasbro's legal team is also aware that if one if their products like megatron in gun mode gets someone hurt, that they will face legal ramifications also. This is not good especially now for the company. People in the U.S. are very litigious. Hasbro does not need that kind of headache.
100% agree. They have to protect themselves as well follow all the modern laws.

@@mrheroprimes In order to sell it here in the US it just needs an orange tip, they didn’t “have” to do shit.
If they do have megatron turning into a tank for SS-86, they better use the G1 gun barrel as the tank's turret and not his fusion cannon to keep that G1 looking robot mode design.
SS86 Megatron should be skipped. I understand the whole "no more gun mode" thing". I also have no problem with Megatron being a tank. He cant be what he was, and he also shouldnt be what he wasnt. Lets change the character. What if Hasbro was unable to come to an agreement with Volkswagen. That would mean that Bumblebee could not be a VW Beetle. Would everyone be ok with SS86 Bumblebee being a camero.
@@coryholden666 good points. Thanks for the reply.
Yes I'm mad about the transformation to a tank and not a gun but I don't care about that I just need his robot mode to look like the 86 movie megatron cause I'm making a shadow box to recreating the show down between him and prime he just need to look like megatron if they are going to make 86 studio series keep the transformation the same
I get wanting to have screen accuracy, but this is a retcon I'm actually ok with. Granted, I didn't grow up with G1 originally (Beast Wars FTW!), but the first time I saw the '86 movie I remember thinking "It's kind of stupid having the main villian turn into a weapon for someone else to use." Plus, given how Megs is usually characterized, a tank feels more appropriate as his alt mode. And besides, he's in robot mode for all but one scene in the movie anyways.
It's 86, just make him a perfect well-articulated robot with no alt mode, toss in the gun accessory to simulate transformation. Screw the tank, just don't even make the figure SS86 if you are that lazy. It doesn't need to transform.
But if it doesn't transform, then it's not really a Transformer? We already have R.E.D. screen accurate Megatron
I would have prefered a staionary cannon over a take because megatron is galvatron so technically he was a cannon in the 86 movie.
Yeah, that does make sense. That would make the upgrade make a lot more sense.
G1 Megs was a gun, end of. No point making a SS86 figure of him if he’s anything but a gun 🤷🏻♂️
@@MudSluggerBP I hear you, but I simply can't happen, you'd rather not have a bit to put on your shelf?

I mean its not that Megatron can't be a tank but they can't make it a studio series that's the whole point of them being accurate to the movies so i am more leading to him not being called Megatron studio series but a legacy it's alright
@@angeleduardo2224 Yeah I think people are upset about that as well up set about the gun vs tank think. two issues going on here.
they can at least make a mini version of the gun so a decepticon can hold it no harm in a mini version
@@melvin3r512 let's hope they do that!
Honestly 86 megs should come with a mini version of himself as a gun
100% hope they do this!
As much as I hate Megatron's alternate mode, adding him to the SS 86 series has been Hasbro's biggest mistake.
I believe the biggest mistake can be found by the designers for the re-issue of lava Megatron and knowing why they said it so inaccurate.
People also forget that gun replica toys were being used in robberies and kids with toy guns could be confused by law enforcement for having a real weapon, which makes it a legal mess. Thats a sticky factor some ppl tend to forget.
Besides, tanks are fucking cool and we all know it. That's like an immutable law of reality
Great point, I feel there is a lot more to this, than just a toy design, having him as a gun, does have potential impacts society as well.
If that's the case, then why Hasbro still making Nerf guns? They could still make him to a gun to be G1 accurate and place an orange topper just like Nerf guns
@@MST2312 Nerf guns are not designed to be replica hand guns. They are always very wild funky colors 🤪
They choose to revisit prime wars trilogy as 86 megatron.
Should have used a howitzer canon, an A10 Warthog, or a Mil Mil 24 attack helicopter.
Those are some good options.
@@TheSwishPOP why didn’t they go with any of those? They might give us a cartoon accurate robot mode.
It's not a studio series 86 figure if he is a tank. Point blank!
I like the the tank mode because it makes sense for megs, but i think they should stick to the gun mode as for his g1 alt mode, just saying...✌😁
tf fans when toy laws exist:
Back in 06 we of course got the classics voyager Megatron from which turned into a nerf styled gun, By having the Orange cap and also other colors to distinguish that it was a toy. Ten years later when Hasbro went to re release Classics Megatron in the platinum one shall stand two pack with classics voyager Optimus Prime During the 30th anniversary of Transformers the movie
Hasbro had to completely bastardize Megatron's color scheme just to make him Safe to re-release, by molding his arms out of red plastic since those are the parts that are visible in gun form and making the shell bits of the gun out of translucent red plastic.
The reason it has to be done this way is because Hasbro being a US company has to follow the guidelines put forward by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and they specify for toy guns There has to be an orange cap be brightly colored and or have translucent plastics to show the internals to make it very clear that it's a toy and not a functional firearm.
Awesome details. Thanks for the comment!
@@TheSwishPOP What I find rather strange is the fans that complain that SS86 Megatron should turn into toy gun Should already be aware of the consumer product safety commissions guidelines but I guess they just choose to blissfully ignore it.
What about adding optional parts to turn the tank to be able to transform into a gun or just a non-transformable prop gun that can fit into Starscream's hand..
Is it easy to have Megatron become a triple changer have him turn into a tank and a gun at the same time without complaining an plus we all scene him turned into a rifle in Transformers Combiner Wars Episode 8 Destruction Dawn you will see Megatron in gun mode an seeing him being used by Optimus Prime it is that damn simple Hasbro an if Evan doesn't want to do that i hope he gets resigned an be replaced by a true G1 fan
If Studio Series gets a Transformers Devastation subline, they've got the Megatron mold covered...🤔
😳 That's not going to sell, we don't want it.
It might not what you want, but I do believe anything Hasbro / Takara puts out even if it's G1 Inspired, will sell fairly well if it's a Megatron.
Here we go with the nonsense These yo yos are gonna completely screw up the 86 studio series. How about this Suggestion Balloon heads, just sell The gun mode online For the collectors and adult fans , And sell the tank mode in stores, For the kids🙄🤦🏽♂️
I don't get why people are up in arms over this. There's no more realistic toy guns in USA.
I get some people don't want to buy the options that are available, but desire/outrage is not gonna make this happen.
I'll pick up ss86 megatron.
If you want to display a megs in gun mode, gotta pick up MP or 3P.
But honestly megs always looks better in bot mode anyway.
Well good for you however it won't be g1 Megatron.
It's not a surprise, but it is somewhat of a disappointment, I kind of get it. Gun toys are still sold everywhere, I don't buy those excuses. They could always do it on haslabs or something.
But there are lots of 3rd party megs that are guns, so it's not super upsetting. I'm on the fence about it. Hasbro is ball-less, but the needs are being catered. So, whatever, ypu know?
But people are also entitled to their opinions, even if we disagree. Even if hasbro has a good reason, people still have a right to be disappointed or upset.
That being said, if he's a good figure, I'll definitely pick him up. Love em some megatron
It’s not a SS86 then. They shouldn’t call it that. I will buy mp36. You know what’s frustrating people like you who don’t get it, it’s not an ss86. That’s it. It’s so stupid to call it. Thats all we’re saying. Call it Generations. But 86.
Don't buy the excuse.
His alt mode is from a bygone era?... so is a truck. Yet they still punch out Optimus Primes by the truckload.
I will not be happy with a tank mode, there's no tank in the movie.

The G1 should never have been a gun in the first place. Hasbro were lazy.

To be honest idont really care about the gun because if they do it ang get in serious trouble to doing so its just not worth it and Studio Series isnt mainly about accuracy als scaling so if they make or if they are allowed to do him as a gun he wouldn’t scale in gun mold so it rippes the scaling apart and there is a second reason to make him again next year is the 10th anniversary of transformers devastation and megatron happens to be a m1 abrams tank and for the question ami skipping this megatron hell no because i known megatron as a tank so i have no emotional conscription to the p38 and besides i wasn’t a gun kid never really played with guns bus as a collector i would love to have only the 84 megatron if i find him for cheap and the other thing is who displays megatron or any transformers toys in alt mode i know know body who displayed any g1 megatron in gun mode so i see there no problem in why he needs to be a p38 anyhow
G1 Megatron is my favourite Transformer. I am someone who liked the look of his gun mode, but never felt it made a lot of sense. I'm perfectly fine with him being a tank. The main thing is that the robot mode looks like G1 Megatron. If they can do that well, and he is a tank instead of a gun, I'm will be happy.
Same. As long as they do an amazing job. I'll be good with him. Just need something to go up against 86 Prime.
As long as they hide his thank parts Fully, and include a gunmode accessory for starscream to hold, ill be happy

That's not true as long as they put a cap over it which the designers for the re-issue didn't add a cap over it and those laws they refer to are out of date. They didn't even include the current laws in New Jersey and California in detail and they're not strict either in California you can't have a toy gun out in public for one rule mentioned. Gun laws get updated.
People also need to teach their own children common sense. We all know you don't bring guns to certain places or even toy guns.
And California doesn't superced over federal guns laws. That's incorrect and doesn't even blanket over.
Don't give me that load of crap tons of kids running around with airsoft replica weapons. But Megatron can't be a gun. Obviously you're your mad becuase other people want the g1 not g1.2
@@xXBlitzWingGamingXx Of course people want the perfect G1 replica, but it just can't happen, so people should understand this and allow Hasbro to make something to fill it's place.
Because theyre totally different.
Also both suck ass fuck airsoft.
you know you have to be 18 in some country's to buy airsoft guns right? also taking them outside can not be safe, people don't know that there not a real gun and where i live airsoft guns have been used to commit robbery's as people don't know their toys. Megatron is a literal pistol design that people can legally buy in the US.
haha, what a crappy guy
You’re a fanboy too. So stop being insulting.
@@MarcelinoSoliz Me? I don't think so. I understand that toys are a business, and business decisions are made, because money rules these companies. at the same time, the reasons why this can't be done are perfectly laid out. So I speak with logic on my side, fan boys do not.
Are you high or sleepy 😂
@@heezyy Wow. possibly sleepy. filmed that at like 2am 🤪
People must accept Megatron as a tank at this point.
I already have in all honesty. I’ve also accepted the idea that that’s what he’s been all along and G1 media simply portrayed him as a gun because that’s what they wanted his toy to be.
Yeah it's the only thing that makes sense moving forward
Yep, the closet we will get was Classics Megatron.
Honestly it’s my preferred alt mode for Megatron at this point.
The laws spoken of here are unconstitutional
@@jeffreyseay7707 I can't tell if you're being serious or not...
@@TheSwishPOP I am
@@jeffreyseay7707 Call me crazy, but I don't think the constitution applies to toy guns ;)
@@TheSwishPOP Then you've never read it
you know theres other countrys that exist right? its not just the states? would you go to other country's and quote the first or second amendment?
Damn that. Make it a Haslab and move on.
Nope, not acceptable and tolerated. Will shelf warm, watch..
This is pure cope. Anything with the name Megatron on it will sell to hardcore fans and kids alike.
If Megatron can't be his G1 version then just skip him and don't do him, we already have a tank megatron from earthrise already. Heck most probably hasbro is just gonna retool that version and size it up a bit and just call it a day, they have done this sort of lazy approach with other previews figures for example like arcee and starscream and Blaster which they had little to non and just recolor.
Its gonna be a new mold. Shut up.
They're not going to reuse the Siege/Earthrise mold
You keep smoking that pot. They should just not make it. Or get Takara to make it, and let us buy it from Japan. Fuck this.
Really can't stand the "Just Get Over It" argument on things like this. It's the last line of defense from someone who has no argument. The SS line is about screen accuracy. 86 Megatron turned into a gun on screen. If the toy doesn't turn into a gun, it's not screen accurate, and has no place in the SS line. If you don't like that, maybe you need to...GeT oVeR iT.
Just buy the damn masterpiece megatron you whiney brats. Tank megs is way better.
I’ve always thought about getting a gun mode Megatron in Haslab. I mean those never make it to mass retail and they always appeal to a specific demographic of collectors. I do intend to get the 86 Megatron regardless because it’s going to be awesome either way.
The problem is not him being a tank. The problem is him being in SS86
I understand. but since they are finally releasing a Prime for the series, I guess Hasbro feels the need to include Megatron to go against him.
What about the alt mode for the Bumblebee FROM the Bumblebee movie....!!!!!
What about it?
?
