You need to be in a “populated area” that Iron Dome deems important. It will take out the incoming rockets. So except casualties in unpopulated areas because Iron Dome doesn’t deem them important or populated enough.
Edited for question: Iron Dome is already programmed to know the populated areas it will focus on saving, Why aren’t the ppl?

U.S.A has plenty of money to fight several wars and have enough for social services etc. As of now they are severally lacking in social government programs however, for ideological reason; many programs are not agreed upon (politics). Free healthcare being one of those issues. The U.S. has the money and military capabilities for wars, especially proxy wars. That's not something The United States is lacking.

Air defense systems cannot be everywhere - one needs to choose which targets to protect.
Let’s assume a defense battery can fire 50 interceptors before needing to reload - all the attacker need do is fire 51 and at least 1 missile will get through. In other words - the systems do have a point where they can be overwhelmed by volume.

@@comphysync9084 obviously they are , mostly hamas fires rockets in a usual manner , low in numbers and even they weren't that capable to firing rockets at such a large numbers , the attack was the planning of 2 years , and hamas made everything in order to execute the plan , that's why the did heavy casualty cause firing 5k rockets in 20 minutes is not an easy thing

My understanding is that Iron Dome is backed up by Patriot missiles.
During the 1991 Gulf War, the public was led to believe the that the Patriot had near-perfect performance, intercepting 45 of 47 Scud missiles. The U.S. Army later revised that estimate down to about 50 percent - and even then, it expressed “higher” confidence in only about one-quarter of the cases.

They are two different systems but the technology has the same components. Patriots would be for knocking down nuclear warheads and biological weapons

From 1984 to 86 , I was a 16 E 10 Hawk Fire Control Crewmember ( Radar Operator ) , at an Air Defense Battery in Germany . We protected Biteberg and Spangdolmn Air bases . We were near Trier , a few clicks from Luxembourg . We had twenty minutes to be able to to engage Russian fighters coming from East Germany and Poland . They replaced the Hawk in 1986 with the Patriot and I went on to the Sgt. Majors Academy and got out of Air Defense until I became a Stinger Manpads Gunner for five years , a few years later . We are the first defenders ! " If it flies , it dies " ! " Raise Up Bravo " 2/62 , Butzweiler Germany !
