You can tell everyone paired with the TD are afraid to say too much about the baskets, and he still is just trying passively to defend them so hard. But Corey brought them up and addressed it perfectly after that Ricky spit out.
These baskets are not good.
Ricky's putting woes seemed at least partially due to him babying some inside the circle putts, which normally he never does. I suspect he had experienced one too many spit outs on the baskets and was trying to adjust.
I would rather hear Avery Jenkins do solo commentary for Pro Worlds than ever listen to Nate Heinold again.
Maybe next time a little more commentary on the tournament play instead of the course designer repeatedly bragging about a mediocre course. Where is Big Jerm when you need him?

Not every basket has to catch every putt. Got it. But if you hit dead center chains, then the basket should catch. These baskets are bad.

Seriously. This is the only major tournament final round I stopped watching after one hole. CCDG has the best commenter Ian, he makes watching any round really entertaining.
I think Nate Sexton is The best commentator, though Ian is good. Does Ian have to say the name of his co-commentator at the end of every other sentence?
Confirms what I thought. This guy sees his course as the "U.S. Open of disc golf." Easily the worst course of the majors and semi-majors and in his mind it's the gold standard. And those baskets? Yikes.

Many pros have stated they only play this course for the money. Paul and Ricky said this course isn't very fun (including the basket) because they make it too hard.

Why is the audio quality so poor on this one?
I usually love the videos, but this audio sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom on a 10$ walmart mic or the built in mic on your laptop.
Two things.
It would be great to have an information bar, hole #, length, par, player name, what disc they're throwing, that stays there through each link.
Also, it would be great to show the top 20 leader-board between each link.

Did anyone see the video for Round 3 from Jomez? Paul and Nate were commentating and I think Paul gave Nate some constructive criticism about a few things. At one point, I caught Paul say it was stupid about something. Can't remember what it was. Maybe everyone felt entitled to have Nate as a guest.
Hole 4 is hard to watch at tee. 6 rounds/videos and i still don't get where's the basket

Um no the point it's to put he disc in the chains... that is why the chains are there if the point was to put it in the baskets the when why even have chains
Disc Golf Kid Yeah I 100% agree here. Cory and TD just wrong here. If you hit the chains in the middle the disc should go in, bottom line. When it doesn't it's just robbery. It would be like a basketball net keeping the ball from going in.
ThatIsGoodOJ yes but the ball in ball golf doesn't jump out of the cup. These baskets are the equivalent of a mini trampoline in the bottom of the cup. There is no way some of those putts should have spit

So the gimmicky course that the pros complained about last year becomes the only one that they play all 4 rounds? No Northwood even? I wonder how many more pros will skip next year? Do you blame them?
I love you Johnny Disc Golf, but finishing a hole in disc golf can be supported by the chains or the basket. In my opinion, both chains and basket should be efficient for catching shots.
With these chains being lighter than most baskets, I would love to see these chains on the Mach X. Might eliminate the weak putt rejections, but still catch greatly with the genius chain configuration of the Mach X.
21:00 Now that's a garbage basket. Ricky hit that basket right in the center of the pole without a crazy amount of force. That should be in every time. Also the course designer inflating his ego in nearly every commentary is really annoying.

Ya know, I really like the TD commentary. But for each and every production? Feel it's taking away from the players and their game. Maybe a separate vid for just him, like a director's commentary. Kinda pissing me off.
People have been complaining about Nate for three rounds now. Bad move Ian having him commentate. I think you just lost some ground there.
Watching the baskets kick out so many puts, from different players, is heartbreaking.

One more thing, the endless, useless discussions about how to play this link or that link are taking up time that should be dedicated to the play by play. You guys sometime spend an entire link talking about things that might happen or happened in the past, and five or six shots have gone by.
If layout needs to be explained with hole stats 4 days straight, it's a bad layout. And if I see these baskets in any other tournament ever again, I'll just bypass it immediately. No matter who is filming. Just even watching those crappy training baskets makes me furious.

Yea Cody makes a good point about the chains not being heavy/thick enough. Ricky's putt mainly hit the right-of-center chain, which is the right aiming point (maybe just a tiny bit high). But the chain reacts off the disc instead of the opposite where the chain cushions the energy of the disc and slows it down. And indeed it did put the disc into the pole with too much speed so that it would spit out, despite it being a good putt. "Certainly, certain types of putts do spit out, and that's unfortunate"....yea....yea it is.
Great to see some new coverage but Heinold is one of the worst commentators I've ever had to listen to...he thinks he's the god of course design and has to explain every little detail he thought through in this haphazard lookin' course. Muted aaaaaaand can't wait to hear Ian's sweet sweet voice again.
Love that they keep making excuses for the shit baskets..the baskets which by the rules themselves are completely illegal to use and not sanctioned. Money talks. smh

I must say, this audio qualify is horrible. I know there's a lot of factors, but truly Jomez is running away with the gold standard video quality and audio quality/commentary teams. Much rather hear pros talk about the experience than the camera crew.
On to the baskets - while they're crap baskets and don't catch the way baskets at other events do... Similar with par being "too low" or "too high" on a given hole... Everyone plays the same conditions. Whether the baskets are bad or not, they're out there for the whole field.. and the layout is out there for the whole field.. over the course of a 4 day tourney, everything even out to the guy playing the best winning, way more often than not. Anthon went OB like 1/10 as much as the next best guy... That's what he won by, the baskets didn't take the win away from anyone. Give it a rest and quit bitching about minutia that everyone has to deal with. It's not like Ricky and Paul were asked to play left handed or something...
After watching part 2...I'm a little more sensitive to the basket issues..... but I still think it's a condition that everyone played under, unfortunate as it is...
