I'm from Canada and have never played disc golf because lack of places to play but love watching the professionals, good to see there is a scene out East! 🇨🇦
Fantastic camera work. It's so good I take for granted; then I realize these guys can't rehearse the shots but it looks like they did. Sixth sense work.
4 holes in and I finally realize what is different about Simon. This is the first time I've ever seen him use anything other than plain white putters. Way to change it up Simon!
good call getting gilbert on the mic w sexton! LOVE YOU CCDG! change the rule on 7 next year simon was over penalized and it leads to people playing too safe, I want to see what the best in the world can do, not lay up...
Great card and a beautiful course. Must be difficult to film, great job CCDG! ...argghhhh Simon (Know it's bad luck with the rollaway, but frustrating to see you take a 9, instead of a 5) We all want to see you do well, but YOU don't make it easy for us :o) lol
I always root for Simon, and he always breaks my heart. I'm not sure why he is ranked so high. He blows nearly every tournament l see him in. I will still root for him and no doubt weep again.
omg bad luck & horrible rule (maybe switch to the same rule as the European Open island hole) - did Simon recover his putters or did he have to borrow some?
There is a reason we had to put the drop zone in, it is a much longer conversation as to exactly why but every player knows the rules. Next year we may make adjustments to it but we are always up for learning how to make our events better.
Honestly I think it's the basket placement on the tiny peninsula that is the issue. You want people to actually go for it somewhat, and with this setup it doesn't ever make sense. Probably the basket should be moved up 15 ft.
The rule should have been goto drop zone. And then play from OB where disc goes out. This way there would have been incentive to go for it from drop zone. The idea I believe was to avoid people hucking into water from distance for an easy drop in. Basket could be moved but it's a unique basket placement and you can manage it smartly. With all due respect to Simon he let the situation get to him. In the position he was in he should have layed up and got on with his round. I watched Paul do the exact same thing and he finished 2nd.
I believe the word is quintuple not quintiple. Hate to be that guy but it surprised me to hear it mispronounced by such a loquacious wordsmith like Mr Sexton
What a stupid hole that Simon took a 9 on, throws a perfect drive and can’t get lucky enough to poke through. Gets a stupid rollaway, and you make him take it at a drop zone. I’ve always hated Johns courses, playing and watching. It all looks the same, two or three choices for fairways, and tons of little trees in the middle of the fairway.
Simon, being Simon, took the 9 because he got mad. Yes he got a bad roll (It happens) but if he laid up his drop zone shot, then putted out, he would have walked away with a 5 , not a 9, instead he took a chance and ran it with the water behind the basket, missed, got frustrated, threw another immediately without thinking and, well, missed that as well and took the 9. He did this same thing as well on another hole on the back 9. I don't like the Drop Zone on this hole either, but it is what it is and everyone else played the same hole.
CJGraham66 , and you don’t think he got mad because he knew it was stupid? That he placed his putter flat 2ft from the basket and it rolls into the water. Then he has to take it back from the drop zone which is enticing you into a death putt. It’s retarded, it’s disc golf. Not putt putt at some clown station.
@@badgerspvcoachellis2436 with all due respect, Simon was the only 9 on the weekend and there were players under 900 rated in the division. He didn't take a 9 because of the rule, he took a 9 because he let 1 mistake turn into 3 mistakes. Ben didn't take the time to explain the reason for the rule, but I'll explain. The challenge of the hole is the water surrounding the pin, but it's also what makes it an EASY par. With no drop zone you can put a drive in the fairway and then be super aggressive with a 2nd shot with no real penalty. If you spike it in there then you get an easy 3, if you're aggressive and miss you have a drop in par as long as you cross over the "finger". Using a drop zone keeps you honest and forces you to actually have a consequence for going in the water. As for the course designer. He's one of the top course designers in the world and a number of top pros (Sexton, McBeth, Conrad, Gibson, Lizotte, Perkins, Pierce, Tattar and the list goes on) chose to come here over Nantucket to play the courses here. You're welcome to your opinion and I won't say that you're wrong, but I'm fairly confident you're in the minority with that opinion.
Jonathan Perry , I guess the key to a great course design is putting lots of little trees in the middle of the fairway. That may be how the east coast likes to roll, but not anywhere else.
@@badgerspvcoachellis2436 Ah right, got it. I think I see your problem. See you're supposed to aim for the gaps, not the little tress. If you're any good you'll actually see the challenge in having to hit lines and landing zones. I see what you're saying though, you like the powder puff courses with wide open fairways and little challenge so you can putt putt your way to a mediocre score. By the way, the two biggest tournaments in Canadian history happened at these courses and the top players in the world have been here for 2 years running and Paul McBeth chose this tournament and venue to be his first ever tournament on Canadian soil. So again, I'll say that you're welcome to your opinion on the designs and simply say that you're in a minority with that opinion.
No offense to anyone else ......but when i fire up a CCDG video with anybody but Ian on the mic....i get sad. Your not allowed to have a life Bro. Get back on the MIC yo!!
Nate “throw long and hit some trees” Sexton
Seeing Simon in a bad mood causes me physical pain. The world needs your smile, Simon!
Nate’s caddy absolutely nailing the socks with sandals look. 1050 rated move right there! 😂👌
Huge thank you to CCDG and all the pros that came down. You guys made the event
I'm from Canada and have never played disc golf because lack of places to play but love watching the professionals, good to see there is a scene out East! 🇨🇦
Aw man love the one man rescue mission on the ninth tee. Thomas Gilbert is a rad dude. Thanks for the coverage!
No one will ever play no 5 better than Gilbert does here.
Wow! You are not wrong!
Here to watch this again after that Throw Canada documentary! Beautiful day out there
YESSSS!!!!!!!! I didn't think anyone covered this event and I was so bummed.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
FINALLY!!!! Been waiting for ages!! Yes I am fully aware of that you had issues. Keep up the work CCDG!
Was expecting some classic and always good Ian Anderson commemtary but this will also do
Ack! Poor Simon!
Love the Canadian flags on the baskets!!! We should try and find more decorative options for flags
At 8:20, you can see Thomas wearing the older style Sexton Grip6 belt. It's cool he's a player and a fan.
Been looking forward to this so much
Thomas on 5 wow
Nate is definitely my favorite commentator!! Seems to kill it with whoever he is with. Champs vs Chumps is some of the greatest commentating ever
Great to watch pro commentary on CCDG!

Take a shot eveytime nate wants to "hit some trees"
What a freaking card...I’m just on hole 1 but already so happy...😁👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Yes, that rule will be adjusted.
No slow mo or replay on Thomas's eagle?
Rescuing forest life. Hell yea!
Curious what Ian would've called that quintuple on 7 for Simon. If going for a birdie and getting a bogey is a birdogie, that had to be like a EagFML.
😂😂👍

Oh Heck ya!
sweet!
Great coverage. Hole 7 ouch .

Ccdg is great depending on the color guys
I wish you guys kept the players cards at the bottom.
Working on it :)
Did anyone do theFPO for the Canadian??
ThoMAs hole 5 eagle putt, so good.
Wow never seen a blow-up like that on the lead card, pro tour. Thats tough. On the other hand WTG local boy Thomas Gilbert!
Are the links at the end of the video supposed to work when clicked on?
Nah
Hole five Thomas G eagles it. (Me) yeah right, when pigs fly... And skip.
Weird hearing Nate without Jeremy
How long before part 2 ??
Negative 20 minutes
@@CentralCoastDiscGolf Thanks!! Watching now.
I didn’t even know idubbz played disc golf!
Oweme Owemy that’s actually his lesser known Canadian cousin Thomas
Sexy Tomcat commentary, Nice!
Where's Ben Askren?
TGs voice reminds me of a character from Star Trek but I can’t quite put my stankfinger on it. Hmm....
So is it sexy Gilbert grape commentary ?
Holy ads Batman.
Thank you guys couldn't make it this year do to having another child.
Congrats boss!
*due
Geez Mario how many do you have now 8?
Lol 3 girls

that drop zone on hole 7 is so dumb.
David Garcia design a course from scratch or Direct a Tournament.
untill then... stfu

Hole 7 is a horrible set up. Honestly embarrassing.
Yeah this course looks sick overall, but that setup on 7 is poor.
