The blind is easy to put up and take down. czcams.com/users/postUgkxvlQxmcZQzSQSYbJsEgAGvG2DaduKTV99 As a female hunter, the ease of placing and setting up the blind is a plus. It’s more of a wind barrier than a warm quilted blind. Which makes it a lot lighter than our quilted blind. I enjoyed the larger windows/openings. Made for a successful season. It has held up well for the first season and the stitching looks good.
This video is so refreshing and restores my faith in humanity lol. You get quickly to the point; you're not so obsessed with hearing yourself and watching yourself to milk as much camera time as possible ha ha. These are real-world tips; all the stuff my friends and I do, but there's almost no videos with actual useful tips besides this one. At the end, you modestly claim to not be an expert and even ask for additional tips. BRAVO- well done. The hunting community needs more like you. Keep up the great work and THANKS for the great vid. DS
The
I was thinking the same thing!!!
Another "box tent" hero with an armchair.
Some really good advice!
We need to offer as many beginner tips as possible.
The hunting community is shrinking, we need to help these folks!
One tip I've taught people is to take their snacks out of the loud wrappers and put them in either ziplock bags or wrap them in a paper towel to keep the noise down. It's the little things that add up to success.
I learned this when I was 8. I took cookies and I thought my dad was going to choke me till I turned blue lol.
The truly hardcore prechew their snacks and carry them in their cheeks.
Or don’t snack at all. People act like they’re cows needing to graze all day wtf
Just got my first ground blind today and plan on using it soon, and these tips are super helpful
@@granthoppes7823 best of luck and skill!
great video! didnt ramble for 20 minutes before getting started
Last year I got my first kill with a bow from a ground blind. 9 point buck in full velvet. Nobody told me about wearing black, or black face paint, or only keeping one window open... I did these things instinctively because I know I tend to move around a little. My blind is clean inside, and completely invisible for the brush. I cleared out a shooting lane from the adjacent thicket with a machete and propped the blind 10 yards in the thicket. I've created a murder hole...
Great tips, thank you. For hanging your bow, if your blind won't support the weight, you can use a shepherd's hook like the ones you see in a cemetery for hanging plants.
Tip # 15--since you spent all that money on a ground blind, spend $10 to &12 more on a 3' X 4' rubber backed throw rug. Place it in the back part of the blind, where you place your stool, chair whatever, and the carpet keeps your chair from sinking into the forest floor. Also gives you a clean dry spot to set your gear or change your socks etc. !! I have one for each of my 3 blinds and have used the same rugs for 5 to 6 seasons now !!
Steve Andrews or lay down some ply wood if possible.
Coltin - The rug is quiet. The plywood, not so much.
Great tip thanks! Sometimes I may never know where exactly I’ll be setting up the GB, rug idea is great!
Great idea! Thank you
@@coltinlaplante7400 plywood is a terrible idea...for obvious reasons
Number one mandatory "tip" when using ground blinds is plan your safety backstop. It is much easier to choose safe shooting directions, with safe backstops, when shooting from an elevated position in a tree stand. With elevated treestands you can more easily choose safe shooting directions such that the shot has a proper backstop at an angle into the ground. It is true that you can safely shoot out of ground blinds but it is much more difficult to properly orient a ground blind to create a safe backstop. I have seen too many ground blinds set up such that the shot is across a horizontal field with only the woods as a backstop such that other hunters can be killed.
I have also used a Shepherds hook (for hanging plants) to hang my crossbow. You can tape the area that the bow sits with tape to keep it from making noise
I don’t even hunt, probably never will but this video was crazy informative
i wonder why someone would hunt...
@@mack3009 for sport, bringing home clean amd natural meat, animal population control, and it's more honorable to track, hunt and humanely kill your food thanto buy ir from the market, animals are mistreated and butchered in mass production farms
@@mack3009 i hope thats ironic
Don't knock it till ya try it.
Yeah... me too. I'm no hunter. I didn't know what a ground blind even was, now i feel like if ever needed, I'm well informed. Thanks!
Very good advice. I've been deer hunting for 48 years, 20-22 years of it hunting from pop-ups, hang ons and natural brush blinds. I couldn't give anything much over what was explained here. Excellent!!
This is one of the best hunting videos I've ever watched. So well executed on all levels, thank you!
Tip#10 Lose the Camo
Best tip ever!
Two weeks ago in a new ground blind.
Set up two months ago, water proofed, brushed in.
One small window open
Wearing camo.
3 bucks seen 50 yards from where I could take an ethical shot. Wouldn’t come closer and they took off within 3 minutes.
I didn’t make sound, scent control excellent. I surmised that must have seen me.
Watched your video when I got back to town and saw tip #10.
Bought a black long sleeve shirt, black no logo hoodie, and a black watch cap with built-in pull-down face cover.
Went back this past weekend, put on my scent controlled washed “ninja suit”, blacked out the skin around my eyes, forehead, and bridge of nose. In blind 1 hour before sunrise.
When I could actually see my kill zone there were FIVE bucks milling around. One walked to within 10 feet of my blind.
Looked right at me, didn’t see me.
Arrowed 8 pointer, 200lb at 30 yards.
Moral of the story:
Lose the damn camo in a ground blind!!!!
I appreciate the effort that you put into doing a quality video short into the point. Helpful for those who have never hunted out of a blind, or hasn’t ever hunted in almost 40 years
Lots of info and no fluff. Straight to the point. Good video.
This is going to be my first time hunting with a ground blind and I found the tips on this video very helpful. Thank you!
I hunt a good bit from a ground blind and use a lot of these tips! Very well thought out video! Very interesting to see just how effective some of these tips are at adding concealment! Great job!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video and share it with us. I found several of your ideas very good, and not necessarily self evident if you haven't hunted in a ground blind previously. This is my first year using a ground blind because my son intends to join me some days and my ladder stand was a single. Thanks again.
Excellent tutorial. Unlike most others, you don't waste any time giving us the best tips in the least amount of time. A+ from this outdoor education teacher!
I hunt in a small outhouse blind, shot numerous dear under 20 yards, everything you say is true, keeping motion to a minimum is the most critical! I am amazed that if you don’t move they CANNOT SEE YOU ! Sent is another ISSUE WITH THE WRONG WIND NO COVER SENT WILL FOOL A DEER!
Scent,Not Sent
That was a great video with a lot of often-overlooked things while hunting! Thank you for that I hope to check out some other videos from your channel.
Great video!! You illustrated most everything I was concerned with hunting from a blind. Awesome job!!!
I've watched a ton of blind hunting videos lately to start with my kids. This is by far the best. Fantastic work.
The Best How TO--Hunting Video on YTube. Concise, Clear, well thought out presentation. I have hunted out of ground blinds for years, but the video is a great reminder to see before the season starts. Thank you very much for the excellent video.

First year hunter here, this is great advice! Thank you for taking the time to pass some knowledge!
Having a piece of leftover carpet to cover the entire bottom helps too. Great video 👍
There is more useful advice per minute in this video than any other hunting video I've seen. Great work!
At first I saw the 10mins and wasn't going to watch. But I'm sure glad that I did, bc this has been the most informative "how to video" I've ever seen. I loved the video clips visualizing the errors that could go wrong. The commentary also had no,b.s. and had all good solid facts! Great Video! Thanks for making it for everyone!

Thanks John, good basic info with strong visuals to prove your points.
Thanks for a great video. Just got my first ground blind and you pointed out many things that I had NOT thought of. Been bow hunting over 20 years and Yes, an olde dog like me can still learn new tricks. Good luck to you this coming season.
Short, sweet and informative. Great job !!!
as a first time hunter this video told me a lot of information i would have never thought of. thank tou for taking the time to make this.
Great tips, especially the demonstrations to illustrate each tip.
Easily the best ground blind video I've watched. Thanks so much for sharing.
amazing info! thank you for such a thorough explanation
Awesome advise, going for my first hunt this season so I really appreciate the advice!
straight and to the point. good job!
One more thing I would advise. Ear protection when rifle hunting. You are going to key off more of what you see than what you hear. You don't shoot in a direction where you hear something. You shoot in a direction where you see something. No reason to give yourself permanent hearing damage.
I " discovered " walkers game ear this year. With high decibel mics built into Hearing protection I can hear incredibly well.
Quick and to the point.good job man G.M.
I appreciate the tips and I will exercise them. Thank you!
No nonsense just a ton of information. Outstanding, thanks!
Excellent presentation!
Well done, thorough. I would add spraying the inside and see through scenes with scent prevention spray.
This was really well done. Lots of great tips and no time wasted. Thanks...

Good video with excellent ideas to follow.
This was fantastic im new to hunting out of ground blind great tips
Couldn't have said it any better. I do everything you mentioned except the water proof spray. If I had to give one tip though, make sure you clear the back wall of the blind while at full draw. Spooked a good buck because my elbow brushed up against the back wall when I drew, making a SWISHHHH sound.
Just bought my first ground blind, thank you, these are great tips!
such a great video! that #11 clip of him poking his head up was hilarious
Very well put together video!
