Same man. I just bought civ 6 and i am bored already after 4 hours....There is something lacking. Units can't stack so it makes moving them very annoying, and the leaders have 0 personalities. One of the things i loved about revolution were the character design and overall interface and art
First game I played from the series. First game I got all the achievements for as well. Don’t think I can go back to it now since I’m so in to Civ 6 but it gives me great memories
I’m trying to get into civ 6 but it keeps just getting where all the map is taken over and no one is attacking no one I’m not understanding the religious stuff or it’s just not working Literally I just win by making knights and Bombards killing everyone
Pro tip: in the “money is what matters” you can just laser focus on developing technology, then discover all other civilizations as quickly as possible, the cheese all of them into giving you a good chunk of their gold in exchange for what’s essentially early game technologies, giving yourself a major upper hand as you have a lot more money to do stuff quick while they lack the necessary funds to match you.
Yep, the NPC nations get a massive production bonus, but no trade bonus. Unless you can geographically dominate the map's production, it's just easier to use money and science to beat them.
My dad has legitimately played this game on a regular basis since getting it back in like 2008 or 9. He’s still at it on the same PS3 even with the online unavailable
I have so many fond memories of how hilariously bizarre some things were in this game. My favorite memory will always be skipping through dialogue with Napoleon, only to then see the cultural advisor shoo him away, and watching him lose his balance and actually fall off the screen, while the advisor hogs up his space to remind you that war is a waste of time and that we should be focusing on improving our culture.
I also like how it's all gibberish they are speaking, but it sounds sort of correct, to what perhaps each language would sound like, via a comedic impersonation.
When I traveled ten hours by plane for the first time in 2009, it was a nightmare sitting there for so long. But Civilization Revolution on Nintendo DS was a great way to make time go faster. Really enjoyed playing it despite technical limitations compared to re console versions.
Civ revolution was my first intro to the genre I played this games almost everyday on my ds when I was a kid. I wish they kept the advisors and the way they would help navigate certain actions i miss them
I used to play Civ Rev all the time, it was the first Civ game I played long before I had my own computer. Eventually I got into Civ V and Civ VI and never looked back LOL. My dad actually still plays Civ Rev pretty much daily, and has beat it on Diety countless times.
I have this for the Xbox 360 and it is awesome. I also have it on my Nintendo DS, it's one of my top 5 favorite DS games. I still play both versions today.
I’ve played civs 3-6 a lot. But civ rev got me into the series and it is a great game. The feeling of discovery when you stumble across an ancient artefact .The fun music when you find a tribal village or build a wonder. And when you win and you get to explore your palace and see all the wonders and great people you’ve acquired. The civilopedia was really fun to go through as well. I don’t know why the mainline games didn’t add pictures and videos along as well.
The phone version was actually pretty decent. It was how I really got into strategy games. Obviously, the actual game is way better, but it was pretty deep for being on the phone, and it wasn't a bs gatcha game.
Anyone else here still playing multiplayer now? I’ve been playing since the game came out I believe in either 2008 or 2009. I remember going to buy it from sears after playing the demo.
I have been playing this game all this time, almost daily, since it came out. I play it when I'm listening to podcasts, or audio books. At one point my PS3 blew up with the disc inside it, so I had to buy another PS3, and another copy of the game. I just had to buy new controllers for the second one, because one doesn't hold a charge, and the other the stick leans upward, which is annoying. I love how every nation is balanced by the fact that they are all unbalanced. It makes replay interesting, due to the over powered nation bonuses.
I've putting of reviewing it but, If you'd like a sci-fi console RTS, my first RTS was Star Trek: Conquest for PS2. Also that gag at the end leading to KH sent me XD
I played it alot on my ps3 and bought every dlc for it but my ps3 broke but i cant play it . I always leave one civilization alive so that i can get the technology win or or any other win. The greeks and the americans are always my go to civs
Thank you for the review... I have an even "worse" version. There is Civ Rev for the Nintendo DS, and I have it in my smartphone! It's lacking ALL voice acting due to DS'es poor memory.
@@ShadowOfCicero You are right, shadow 😉👍! I tried many strategy games for mobile, including FreeCiv , UnCiv , UniWar , Ninja Village (Kairosoft) and a couple Clash of Clans "inspired" games. None had such charm and charisma as Civ Rev for the Nintendo DS. But I am missing out on Siege Up! And that weird Mobile RTS I have been seeing a lot in store...
I miss my DS.. I thought that was a great version all except the graphics dept.. Thankfully i still have my ps3 one which was the first game I got with it along with Prince of Persia.. It’s kinda a head scratcher why this version of Civ is overlooked.. I’ve never actually played Civ 1 but Rev seems like Sid’s remake of it judging by the footage
@@Mintcar923 I think Civilization Revolution was always built as a Civ for consoles, which translated to the Nintendo DS very well !!! I still stand by this has more charisma. I even tried Siege Up! like half a year ago, and it's just meh 😒 CivRev is still better.
Man I love this game. The other mainline games are too complicated. They’re alright but I like the goofiness of this game
It’s a great game perfect for someone who can’t devote their life to playing Civ.

@@speedrunner011 yeah they are a bit passive at those difficulties. I found Emperor is pretty balanced.
Civ 6 reminds me of civ rev with the art style. I loved the music and in particular the civolpedia in civ rev.
When I was a kid, I had a huge crush on Cleopatra, lol.
😆
Same, lol .
For me, it was Catherine.
fun fact this game runs on the gamebryo engine, which oblivion and skyrim run on
Crazy how well this game has held up. Still play it every couple of months when I get the itch
I know right, we could use another one though. Bigger and better
Even the graphics are pretty good
@@Real_Mick3y6 yeah, I like these graphics better than the usual Civ games. Those are kinda drab
I played this back when I was 5, literally one of my first games ever. Still play it occasionally to this day. The simplicity is very appealing.

Or focus on getting writing and use spies to steal massive chunks of gold from enemy capitals early on
This is my all-time favorite game!
Tryna play?
Fair enough

I do the same. The online version ends your game without saving, if you are away from it for too long.

I will admit that i never noticed the dimplomacy issues since i was always at war with the whole world
