Influence is powerful, it allows you to use the knowledge and skills of other human beings to bring your vision to life.
Business skills are just as important. Think of how many failed tech products entered the market, all a result of poor business strategies.

It certainly makes sense for them to work together than against each other.
I think universal hate is a strong word and certainly nationalistic elements come up when history comes up. However, there are many elements they admire each other on. Japanese housewives love watching Korean dramas for example. Many young Chinese people watch Japanese anime. Japanese actually knows a lot about Chinese history in the Three Kingdoms. So there are common elements among the countries and they don't have to be in conflict.
