- Finding sponsors is a skill that is almost as important as driving. Motorsports is such an expensive sport and any help you can get is important. Throughout my career I've struggled to find sponsors until I figured out these 5 tips. Watch this video and learn the dos and don'ts of finding a sponsor!

Thank you so much Ryan! I was so happy when I saw this video. I had been hoping you would post about this. The sponsorship thing is very unknown when your new and I had no idea where to start. This helped a lot. When you talk about asking people for sponsorship who would you typically ask or email?
Thats kind of up to you. You need to find people who can help in your career and contact them.

What kind of sponsors should I look for? what kind of sponsors should I focus on? (I haven’t got into racing karts yet, but I’m doing my best to get into this sport and progress as much as I can and because I don’t have a millionaire daddy, i need a great support .so I won’t end up in the barriers.) love your videos.
Try and find what you need. If you need tires approach someone for tires. If it’s chassis do that as well. Just focus on accomplishing those needs
Subscription added 👌 I’m looking at getting my kids into karts when they’re a bit older which will be a struggle as a single dad but obviously well worth it.

my current issue is that i cant actually put myself into a position where i can race without a sponsor :(( but i suppose all motorsport requires a lot of money at least to start
Yes it does. Like I said be creative. See if there is someway you can pay someone back that isn’t monetary

i asked the team ill be joining and they said that they usually pick the fastest driver in karts out of all the existing team members so looking to prove myself there :)

I'm not into racing but I am looking for sponsorship...the biggest thing I struggle with is knowing my value.
Start small and grow from there. If you don't know your value, it might just be your ability to do work

Yes it’s going to be. It’s almost impossible to get a sponsor for anything without any experience. You have to take some time to set up a name for yourself before you get a sponsor.

Hi Ryan, I'm 13 and new to karting. How old were you when you started karting? I want to race and make money in the future hopefully and I'm ready to commit but I'm just worried about not having enough time. Also thank you for your videos they've helped me so much recently!
I started at 10 years old so your not far behind. I know drivers that have started later and have done really well

Hey a question I’m doing indoor karting rn and I wanted to do skusa and I didn’t do local outdoor karting So is it possible to race skusa
Yes it is but I wouldn’t suggest doing that for your first race in outdoor karts. It’s a different animal all together. Look for a smaller series around your local track just to get your feet wet first.
Whats a reasonable ask in terms of support? I always see what to ask for, but never how much. 100$, 1000$, how much is ok in karting or do you find then usually willing to give?
When it comes down to smaller amount of money ask for trades like have them buy a set of tires or a pale of fuel. It feels more personal than getting handed 100$. But towards your question, find out your value and get a sponsor for that. If what you can offer is only worth $100 than that’s all you’ll get. More value = bigger sponsorships

What tyres do you usually use mate. I was trying Maxxis SR1 but my lord those die quickly
In the US we mainly use the MG yellow compound and they last relatively long

@Peter Stiller I have to race maxxis tyres, I race tkm. Honestly they last for ages but they are terrible (especially the wets) in terms of grip
What about seeking sponsorship via small companies/businesses ?
Honestly just build connections, you need to still prove yourself to be worthy, you should also tell the business what you offer via exposure to their company
The same tips still apply. The big note to take away is value. What value do you bring to a business that would be sponsoring you. You have to make it worth their money. Don’t think of yourself as a charity for a business but an investment.
You forgot start making videos, build follower base and bring more visibiility to your sponsors! :)
