  • When fundraising for nonprofits, how do you get corporate sponsorships? What do you put in your sponsorship package? #Nonprofit #Fundraising #Nonprofits
    There are many fundraising ideas out there for nonprofits, but corporate sponsorships for your nonprofit fundraising event or program is one way to build a relationship that may support your nonprofit organization year after year, if you do it right.
    The key is getting started with a sponsor, and for that, you need a great sponsorship package! In this video, I share what to include. Hope this helps!

    I think the only other thing I would add is like a t shirt or coffee mug so a small gift for people who sponsor

    • @AmberMelanieSmith
      @AmberMelanieSmith  Před rokem +1

      You can certainly do that, but the market value of those things would be not tax-deductible for the sponsor.

    Love your content thank you so much!
    Should the personalized cover letter you mentioned be included in the formalized sponsorship package deck (for example I'm laying out my package deck in Canva and will be attaching it as a PDF) or would the initial email you send reaching out to the sponsor serve as that cover letter?
    The example you shared seemed to be more stock than custom, so I'm a bit confused.

    • @AmberMelanieSmith
      @AmberMelanieSmith  Před 10 měsíci

      I think that's up to you; I can see it being easier to personalize the email part in lieu of the cover letter.

    I feel like i need a coach to run stuff by and bounce ideas off of while i learn to understand this stuff. Ive been running a Nonprofit for 9 years and still havent figured out how to do anything because my life is consumed by my day job and i just have no idea what to do about it.

    • @AmberMelanieSmith
      @AmberMelanieSmith  Před 7 měsíci

      I totally get that! I know on my end, at some point in the future I'll likely be offering some coaching (I'm excited by the interest several have shown in that!), but beyond that, the changemaker community is really amazing and there are likely some great helpers out there for you!

    Thank you for this video and all your other ones. I have a question I am seeking answer for. What about dentistry services? If the mission is to give dentistry services to those in need, may my sponsor receive 100% tax free dental services? Or does the IRS count dental service as a material item sold?

    • @AmberMelanieSmith
      @AmberMelanieSmith  Před rokem

      Would you be charging people for the dentistry services (even a little) in normal circumstances? If so, the value of what you would charge is an amount the sponsor could not count as tax deductible.

    2 definitions of Sponsors in 501c3's. 1. dollar donators, like you use above. 2. sponsorships like those groups who take on young/small nonprofits for a revenue percentage to give back room services and their tax id so a full nonprofit is not needed.

      Hi Chris, for the second one, you're probably referring to "fiscal sponsorship"? That's probably a whole separate video topic! :)

  • @thefoodiedoula2397
    @thefoodiedoula2397 Před 10 měsíci +1

    oh and how long should a sponsorship package typically be? Is there a number of pages I should not exceed?

    • @AmberMelanieSmith
      @AmberMelanieSmith  Před 10 měsíci

      Hey there! There's no specific rule for that. It's whatever you need it to be to include all the most important info! In general, because people don't like to read a lot, shorter is probably better. :)

    hi, should a legal disclaimer be included - just to have a clear understanding?

    • @AmberMelanieSmith
      @AmberMelanieSmith  Před 9 měsíci

      You mean about how there may be a percent of the sponsorship that is not tax deductible? I would say yes - transparency is always ideal.

    Is this role one that can be assigned to a consultant? Especially for say an event-based activity? Are there such consultants for non-profits?
