    Great work as usual AB. A couple things I'd like to put out there is 1. The council should have put a sign further up each side of the carriageway informing of the "new road layout" 2. It should have been the council to change the layout of the highway. 3. They should have been a planning application to change the road layout

    Just to put you right ( and you'll have to trust me that I know my stuff when it comes to driving and driving rules) you are always expected to obey the most recent sign/order you see. Yes there's a stop sign but, after that on the road is the painted triangle which means give way and, the solid white line that used to be there is now a broken white line which also means give way. It is stupid that the stop sign was left in place but the two road markings come after that so they are what should be adhered to at the junction. You're welcome buddy, keep up the good work,

    On a Gazetted road, you must stop if there is a stop sign associated with the intersection regardless of line or no line. Offence is fail to stop at a stop sign.

    You must stop at all STOP signs and red traffic lights
    TS30 Failing to comply with ‘stop’ sign- 3 points

    • @OriginalManLee
      @OriginalManLee Před 4 lety +3

      There are actually two types of stop signs listed in the highway code this one in the video an octagon on its own without a circular background means you only have to comply and stop to give way if there is traffic or pedestrian/s crossing, for example, if it is safe to do so you do not have to come to a temporary stop. The STOP sign you are thinking of has a circular background behind the octagon and this means you have to comply and come to a temporary stop regardless of traffic or pedestrians.
      I remember this because the differences of the signs were hammered into me as this was sort of a common question people in the theory got wrong when I was taking it, I also double-checked just now to make sure I wasn't mistaken o7.

    • @OriginalManLee
      @OriginalManLee Před 4 lety +2

      @@ozzie2612 Not really, I mean the point was the cars weren't giving way when there was traffic, and if the MOD is making adjustments to public highways pretty sure there should be a process, it is not a private sector company and is just as accountable as any other public body the taxpayer funds I don't know why they go round spouting PRIVATE property. The powers that be don't really care about the base being filmed otherwise they would erect walls that cannot be seen through and apply for some sort of "protected" status that makes it illegal to film in said location due to sensitive information. I think the real point of most of AB's vids is "in this day and age" where there is a camera on you pretty much everywhere in public is why the f*** do people get funny about some random walking around harmlessly capturing footage of random inconsequential stuff.

    • @OriginalManLee
      @OriginalManLee Před 4 lety +1

      @@ozzie2612 with this stop sign giving way would require a temp stop if you see traffic regardless if you think you can get out in time which they weren't they were rolling on, I mean in regards to most his videos people get funny not this particular one, the police officer in the original video was quite friendly IMO. The main issue, in my opinion, is this is a "50" mph limit on a long bend the solid line was placed further back is to allow for error the fact the cars roll right out up to the edge of the lane means there is a high possibility to be T-boned at 50mph if a car isn't exactly inside the lane and paying full attention when coming round the bend these types of junctions are dangerous and I've seen a lot of accidents on roads similar to this just due to subtle mistakes which we can all easily make a slight error of judgement from time to time. Junctions like this one are built like the original video to avoid issues as I mentioned above, the adjustment in this revisit makes the road higher risk of collision I don't think the Highways agency made this change, if they did they would have done all the lines and arrows on both sides of the road, not just the junction which itself has only been partially done, you can see the other side hasn't been touched maybe the MOD applied for the change and the HA didn't actually come out to evaluate it just approved it I dunno how it works tbf. I'm not disagreeing with the fact that AB got somethings wrong here but he is still right to some degree I just don't think he gets his point across well. Either way, I'm not here to argue with you and I appreciate your input and opinion :P

    Either one is a backup in case of bad weather etc. If one is visible that is what you must do, stop give way etc. Here in Australia we have bad storms. if the sign blows down but the unbroken line is visible then it's a stop. And vice versa. Dust or leaves or whatever covering the line but there's a stop sign. Kinda obvious but what they have there is still a STOP.

    I suspect that UK road design rules would require any road entering a 50mph highway would require a stop rather than give way. They have created a dangerous situation. If anyone gets killed there whoever removed the white line may be in trouble legally. Obviously someone does not have respect for the law. Have you followed up with whoever is in charge of the main road.

    Strange those white lines and markings are give way but there is a stop sign 😁

  • @ivancarter7564
    @ivancarter7564 Před 4 lety

    Theres a book issued by the ministry of transport governing road signs and road lay outs ....but the sign states STOP !! The highway code states all markings must be clear to be enforceable

    Seems like that sign is too far from the kerb to be clearly seen, it should be right at the kerb, to me it's facing the other main road

    We are supposed to stay on the left at all times and because the give way line has been moved in to the road. The is ambiguous.

    The reason they have changed the line but not the stop sign is because NO-ONE can do their job properly in the UK anymore - the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

    The question really is has the stop been changed legally ??? Under the data protection he has no right to give your name out in that manner !!! Well documented !!!

    You know what I'm going to say here AB...... military bases are a no no mate. Everything else is fair game but the security of service personnel is vital fella.🇬🇧🇬🇧✌✌

  • @mrade5321
    @mrade5321 Před 3 lety

    Unbelievable. They put 'STOP' restrictions exiting the base for a reason. It's a main road with fast moving traffic and is dangerous. But, because they can't be arsed taking a few seconds to stop and make sure it is safe, they just remove the restrictions (sort of). I just pray we don't get any americans driving out of that base!

    You gotta rename previous gods with (1 of 2) or something. New to your channel so watching all in random order. Like the Warwickshire police station vids. Is there a 3rd? If you give up, they’re gonna learn that’s how they deal with you. Need to follow through with complaints and everything

      Yes , that's what I thought....'GDPR' / Data protection . The police seem to think that those rules don't apply to them if it suits..... Maybe time to bring a claim against that 'officer' and his boss !??

    The stop sign will take priority over the give way lines (which look more recent). If, it went to court over any accident.
    The ones you should make enquires too are the local highways department.
    There is a similar situation locally to me, a stop sign with giveaway lines, at a T junction.
    Which my bike group repeatedly raises with Midlothian Council, however if any incident occurs they won't have a leg to stand on.
