I turned 61 last summer...don’t waste time torturing yourself with products you don’t enjoy...life is too short!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 truth!! Life is too short
True, but finishing products feels good though. I'm not good with throwing stuff out.
Taking a few lipsticks that are nearly finished in between the ones you love isn't that hard to do.
Makes me feel better if I buy something new.
@@ollymounara605agreed
I agree that picking products that you already love is KEY!
so important!!!
One way I'm able to get more use out of products I'm neglecting is experimenting with them before I wash my face at night, or on days when I'm staying in and not seeing anybody. It's always fun, and if I'm able to come up with a look I really like with those items then I'm excited to recreate it soon on a regular day. 😊
that's such a great tip!!
I do this since I was a teenager! And got very creative but I tend to forget what I just invented 😅😅 but nowadays we have cel phones and we can actually document every look ❤
I have a notebook where I write down products that I have completely used up. I have been using this notebook for 10 years now and there are over 900 products used up but the notebook includes both cosmetics and skincare products.
wow!! it would be so cool to be able to look back on that!
The cat tail was so cute 😍😂
lol it is so cool.
I know! Everytime I see her I’m like “Hi Leia!” 😻
I love the cat tail in the beginning. So darn cute!!!!!
I decided this year to go on a no buy, and just use what I have in my collection both makeup and skincare wise. I have things I’ve purchased over the years that I barely touch. It has not only allowed me to use up a lot of my products, but my bathroom is getting cleaned out, my bank account isn’t dwindling, and I’m streamlining my routine. I’m trying to be more minimal in my makeup and skincare, because I just don’t want to contribute to all the waste anymore. It’s been so amazing to see the room I’m making in my bathroom storage, and to know that when I do start buying products again, they will be carefully thought out and used immediately. I’ve also used this year to get into Terra cycling, so I feel much better about all the products I have used up and are now responsibly getting rid of. It will be different for everyone, but if you find something that makes you happy, it will be a great motivator. Even if it’s just to save some money, or clear out some space.
I think for 2021 I’ll focus on 5 products at time instead of 10. That might help me stay motivated and not feeling overwhelmed. Great video!
yay!! good luck :)
I take pictures of my progress. It helps me stay motivated. I have a picture collage I made of all the items in my project pan on my phone. I have been crossing them out as I finish each item. It has been super motivating! Like you, it took me a couple of years before I found a way that panning worked for me. It has become more of a shop my stash kind of thing for me though. Makes more sense and I find it gives me more balance. Enjoyed this video, Sarah! Thank you for always being so thoughtful in your purchases and in the way you use your makeup. Loved it! ❤
Glad I’m not the only one that does that!!
I started my own project this year (inspired by you and Kelly Gooch) and It's amaizing! I'm planning starting an ig account where I will post my progress in up coming year.
I´d like to follow your journey! good luck
@@jamiecrucefix4078 Thank you
@@jamiecrucefix4078 Hey, I made the account so feel free to check it out it is at: @RandomPanning
I'd follow your journey too
Omg thats so adorable the cat tail around ur face as ur talking about panning. I’m not a cat person per say but am an animal lover! I think I’m too needy to own a cat. My dog wants to be with me ALL of the time. She barks when I close the restroom door and I’m in the shower lol.
Haha you’d love Leia!! She’s super clingy 😹🖤
I just wrote down all of my PP2021 products. For eyeshadows I'm doing a usage goal. Last year my goal was to hit pan in all 16 shades of a brand new palette and I did!
what palette was it?
@@Ariana-nz1wu BH cosmetics Love in London!
I think the usage goal tip is super helpful and I plan on incorporating this into my 2021 project!
Thank you for the tips. I am planning on starting my first project pan in January. I typically switch up my makeup basket every week so I plan on intermingling that with my project pan items.
I started my project pan two months ago and i have finished A LOT of products. The hardest thing to pan is blush but im still working on it
Blush is the hardest for me too!!! But it’s so rewarding when you finally finish them! 🙌🏻
I have made so many attempts to project pan and so far I have not been so successful but I did do a 12 pans of Christmas this year (which I’m still working on) and it’s smaller and I don’t have one thing from every category for my face and it’s been working! I feel like I still have creative freedom and color story freedom but I still have things that I’m making progress on! Good luck all on your projects to finish the year!
congratulations progress in just two months
@@jamiecrucefix4078 I’m keeping my project small to start just FYI. I want to start small and build up to more so at least I don’t feel like I’m setting myself up for failure bc it has been really difficult to stick with it in the past but thanks anyway and I wish success for all who are doing the same
One thing that has helped me is to have a goal to hit pan on a product instead of always wanting to use it up completely or have a usage goal.. I also include skin and body care products as well
These are great tips! You inspired to do one month one palette. I'm thinking to do project pan seriously too. But thinking I can be overwhelmed so not sure yet but thanks for the tips. Super helpful
I am definitely doing a 2021 project pan. I'm always working on panning certain products, but this will be the first year I'm posting about it! I definitely want to set goals for usage, like you suggested. 🥰
I love the black cat tail!
my tips for using other parts of your collection are:
1. I use the majority project pan products on workdays - i'll use weekdays to use project pan items and, particularly, any eyeshadow palettes i'm panning/in my one month one palette. I'm less fussed about mixing up my makeup when i'm just getting ready for work anyway and it means i can see consistent use on things.
2. I have a list of products i'd like to use each week - some of them are in my project pan and some of them aren't - and I try to cycle through my products like this. Once I've used everything for that 'week' i move onto the next week (sometimes it does take me longer than a week) and this way i know everything in my collection is going to get used and i can also identify things that I don't like anymore and want to get rid of.
3. i'll often have a couple of options on things within my project pan so I can mix it up if i want to
4. On some products in my project pan i'll just put a usage goal on, so even if i don't finish/pan something I'm still cycling through everything.
5. I try to add products that are nearly finished into my project pan, for the same reason.
this was so useful!! I'm actually starting a project pan next year for the first time, I'm so excited!! Thank you so much for this video, and for all your daily videos this month! I'm loving them all so much 🥺🤍🤍🤍
Great tips! I didn’t set myself up to have a good project pan year. I got burned out & then neglected it all together. Definitely going to try again this year
i think a lot of people were in the same boat this year!!
I’m going to miss the daily videos so much after this month 🙈 great tips! 🥰
I've been using ceam bronzer and liquid lipstick and eyeshadow bases lately. The stila liquid lipsticks and the milk cream bronzers are my favorite to use. They just make blending easier and the shadows don't have to be as pigmented or blendable to work out.
This was great! I'm going to be starting my first official project pan next year, so these tips are super helpful. Thank you, Sarah! 💜💚💙
Ive been waiting for an update panning tips!! I got super unmotivated for my project pan this year :(
Wow, just use one of my liquid lipsticks as a blush. It looks stunning. Thanks for the great tip! 😊
I honestly look forward to your vlogmas videos this month. I appreciate it's not all vlogs and it's ultimately just daily videos with variety.
i'm so glad you are enjoying them!!!
The cat tail is cracking me up. The tip on the pencil eyeliner is amazing. I got many colourful ones to try. Thanx a ton
Great tips, Sarah! Will definitely start my project pan next year. 💕
yay, good luck!!!
These tips were really helpful. I am new to the concept of Project panning and this kind me a starting point.
I got into makeup during pandemic and now I have too much eyeshadow and don't really have much I don't enjoy, but I feel bad not using it. So I decided to try panning to see if I can get more use out of them. I was happy when some of my ideas were similar to your suggestions. Hard part for me is deciding number of uses and which palette to start on since I have so many that are technically expired based on the manufacturer suggested expiration date.
Thank you soo soo much for this vid. You answered a lot of my questions. Thanx xxxxx
Thank you so much for all these tips :) I'm about to start my own project pan adventure and your video here was one of the first ones that popped up in my search
Best of luck on your project panning journey!!
@@SarahRoseBeauty thank you!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your favorite mascaras in a prior video. I just ordered the Cover Girl Exhibitionist per your recommendation. I can’t wait !!
I actually didn’t recommend exhibitionist! 😬 do you mean lash blast?
@@SarahRoseBeauty oh no. Hahaha. I guess I was multi tasking when I watched that one.

thank you natasha!!
I buy walking on eggshell because of you and i bigin to use it, i LOVE your Style of make up and i will too my make up colection to use oldest item .
Heya, great video and brilliant tips , looking lovely xox 💕
I'm planning on doing my first project pan in January, kind of excited. :) I think I'm just going to keep it small, like 5 items and nothing crazy like an eyeshadow palette. I've watched so many project pan videos I feel like I should be a pro at it already! haha
wahoo!!! 5 items sounds like the perfect starting point!
Thank you so much for giving us tips is definitely going to help me with my project pants.💕💕 I enjoy your channel
thank you rose!!
I appreciate your comments that it's okay to change projects and it's okay to quit projects. Seems obvious, but also hard sometimes. I've tried a pan that palette three times. On this 3rd attempt, I found that the goal of hitting pan in each shade, rather than finishing shades, as well as a weekly rotation of companion palettes was so helpful in keeping me motivated. I didn't have the stress of finishing (or not finishing) the palette and I got variety I wanted regularly.
Great tips!
I have been putting my project products in my bathroom sink are and leaving the rest on my vanity area but everytime I go in there I feel sad and want to bring those items in the bathroom too. I may have to pack it up for awhile so I’m not seeing them rn. Also want to say that I’m not working fulltime right now but I do get up early and put my makeup on and then it’s done and out of the way because if I don’t I will not use any makeup at all and feel crappy about myself and for neglecting my progress. It’s actually fun and sometimes I don’t even leave the house but my face is all ready to go. Just saying. 😊
These tips are great! Gonna go get me a notebook and some fun pens to record my progress!
Yay!! Have fun! 🎉
yeah I've been trying to get myself to wear products, even if it's just a few at a time.
putting on a little makeup always boosts my mood too!!
Blush has always been an easy item for me to pan (I can hit pan in about two months) I have been panning for only a year but in the last 15 years (since I started wearing makeup) I have finished up two blushes a year every year. (From start to finish) so this year I expanded my blush collection and have enjoyed it so much.
Damn, I’ve had one blush for a year and I’m not even making a dent... altho I can understand since I use a tiny amount since it’s highly pigmented and a bit to dark for me now (COVID made me even more pale than normal so all my shades are off)
@@lukaseldenrust2637 I totally understand the extreme pigment issue. I have used them as eyeshadow as well as mixing pigment into vaseline to make my own tinted lip balm etc. Maybe that will help you out.
Rachel Thorne wow, in the span of 11 hours since I made that comment my mom bought me a new blush... it’s a really light pink (it’s lighter than my natural flush without makeup on, but with the right foundation that flush is gone so I can still use it lol)
@@lukaseldenrust2637 if it super light and you have an empty pan you can maybe mix the deeper blush with the light, repress that mix and boom you may have a perfect middle shade. If you do that please keep me updated. I personally am obsessed with blush, and love all kinds of shades.
Hey i don’t know if u will see this have u ever finished an hourglass blush
Your cat! Awwww!!! That was so unexpected and adorable!
Applaud you for continuing to talk while your cat was there 🤪 I would have laughed so hard, it was so cute!
hehe i had to edit out a lot!! 😂
I think usage goal is so much better for me and my collection. I can pan primer, face cream, facial oil, foundation, eyeliner, brow products, and mmmmaaaaybe bronzer. I have way too many blush, highlighter, and single eyeshadows to pan! But this video totally helped me see what I can focus on and even if I know some of the tips u mentioned it’s a reminder for sure! 😊 I rarely use lipstick so I really should use them as a cream blush! Well maybe 3 of them lol the other colors r not blush colors. N e tips on how to use glittery lipgloss?
tbh i got rid of a glittery lip gloss because i hated it!! lol
@@SarahRoseBeauty Lol. I love the way it looks in the tube! But that’s it ... for me n e way.
The cat tail!! Haha
Any tips for using up products that are too glittery?
hmm it depends on what kind of product you're talking about. sometimes they can be mixed with a body lotion as a body glitter if you're into that!
@@SarahRoseBeauty good idea thanks!
Maybe for nails..? Mixing it with clear nail polish or something lile that. Never really tried myself though :)
I finally finished my blush that I had been working on all year, but I was buying blushes (yes, multiple) telling myself I could use them once I finish the first blush. Now I have a bunch of blushes in various tones and finishes, and from my experience on how long it takes to use up a blush, it will take me forever to use them up. Why do I do this to myself?
blushes are my weakness too!!!
Thank you for the advice Sarah - I wanted to ask, how do you cope with getting your makeup done while having to stay at home? I personally often get discouraged doing my makeup now that I have to stay home... Do you or anyone else feel the same or is it just me? How do you still feel motivated to do your makeup during quarantine? Thank you. ❤️
@MaLu Spezzano, I feel the same ❤️ and I think sometimes is ok. I didn’t wear makeup the same as I used to. This month for example, I did my makeup 2-3 times. And I feel guilty because I think I am wasteful... but the Christmas is coming and I think is the best time to start to be glamurous again! I send you a big hug! You are not alone ❤️
Ps! Amazing video! ❤️
I feel like if anything I’ve gotten more motivated to put on makeup this year! It’s one of the few things keeping me sane and I look forward to doing it everyday even when I’m home all day. Sometimes I don’t get around to doing it until like 4pm haha but I don’t view it as a chore, it’s one of my favorite parts of the day so that’s why I don’t really struggle with motivation. So if you can find a way to look forward to it and view it as a self care thing maybe that would help?
I guess this is more of a shop my stash tip vs. project pan but something I’m looking forward to doing to keep my makeup exciting (instead of being sad I can’t go out and wear a nice lipstick people will notice with masks) is to write down all the “maybe someday” looks I’ve always kept in my head but never done, and then trying to do them. For example I own the Colourpop dream street palette but rarely use the blues- I always use the rose golds then say “maybe someday I’ll do a teal look.” Since we are always home anyway it’s not like I have to be stuck with a look in public that I hate, I can just wash it off and it gives you a chance to try something fun and different. Just an idea :)
I felt the same but recently I’ve realized that doing a little makeup, even just lipstick, makes me feel better while I have to sit at home hahah
@@kristinelewis5373 thats what ive been doing too!! Such a great time for practicing colors and techniques
You look gorgeous
Question: I have a mini ND glam, and the shimmer shade Fave is crumbling a little bit. Could I just use an eye dropper to drop some alcohol in and pat it back? Or do you think best success is scraping out?
It's a bouncy looser product.
Any advice would be appreciated
Is it similar to the ColourPop Super Shock formula? If so, I'd recommend using a tiny bit of facial oil to revive it!
@@SarahRoseBeauty Humm
I don't think I have any oil, I don't use it would Timeless matrixyl work? Or seaseme oil? Coconut? Olive?
I dont do pan a pallete if i dont like a product i just give to my sisters 😅
Thank you Sarah for this video. Going to start project panning in 2021 and already a bit worried about over selecting per month. But just got tell myself to have fun with it. Great tip using a black crayon as eyeshadow base I have a chunky black crayon that is too chunky for use as liner and other than using a eyeliner brush to transfer the product to my eyes for more control I haven´t come up with ways to use it. Thank you!
One thing I do is never repress the powder products. I use a spoolie or something to make it loose. Seems to go a bit faster and a bit less work
I'm panning the It foundation and its too dark. Actually most days my foundation doesn't look good. Glad its a pandemic and im wearing a mask. Lol 😆
Kitty tail! :D
Every day is project pan day for me. I only buy what I'm going to use everyday or seasonally.
Awesome 😎
I really enjoyed this tips, but mostly I was just impressed with your math skills. no fingers?, no calculator? nice. :)
hahaha
Is it your natural nails? Either way, it looks beautifull.
They’re press-ons! Thank you 😊
Cat tail!
Regarding motivation, I'd also add that you are the person who gets to make up your panning rules and goals. If you're not wearing makeup as much, then adjust your goals or timelines. You don't HAVE to wear makeup just because you're trying to pan something. This is particularly true for those of us who do this as a hobby and aren't invested in making CZcams videos or growing an Instagram following.
Yes this is such a good point!!! I think people compare themselves to people they see online when that’s just not most people’s reality. If your lifestyle doesn’t allow you to wear a full face of makeup everyday, you’re not going to see progress as quickly as a CZcamsr and that’s okay!
Hi😊👋🙋♀️
Sarah you're beautiful
Okay; what the hell is project pan? I felt like throughout the video I kept getting confused by what the hell you even meant.
lol I explained what it is in this video: czcams.com/video/reQgR9mV-yg/video.html
