Oh Katey, I just wanted to give you a hug when you got to the six of pentacles draw! This really hit home for me too because I know I live with a lot of internalised ableism regarding my health issues (6 of pents came up in my week ahead reading the other day). It's so hard to live in a society that doesn't value people simply for who they are. And it has been particularly brutal of late when it comes to the way chronically ill/disabled/older people are spoken about/treated. I'm glad you turned a corner and got the support you needed. x

One reason I'm glad to be alive at this time is that there are SO many wonderful children's books being published. I work in a play-based pre-school and we continuously get new books talking about empowerment, diversity, cultures, acceptance, identity, and various emotions. Diversity and emotions, especially, lead to better mental health and emotional management. I am hopeful for the generations to come. I just wish these books reached more people in small towns that don't have the resources nor the knowledge to get them. :)
Since I starting working in the kids bookstore, I have been so excited by a lot of the books available now! It’s so beautiful being able to help kids find books they can see them and their experiences in. I hope it only continues to grow!

This deck wasn't for me because the art style is not my cup of tea but my good friend saw themselves in the Strength card and their reaction to it was so moving that I gifted them my deck and I do not regret it! ❤ That 6 of pentacles was sooo moving, I am glad you included it in the video because your interpretation was truly beautiful!

I just want to send you so much love. It's so hard to be this vulnerable online. I get it, big time. I spent most of last week catatonic on the couch, in between bad mental health and chronic pain. I actually worked with this deck on Saturday for a tarot class and it felt like seeing an old friend.

I'll be honest, the art of this deck never calls to me. I find it off putting. That said, seeing how much this deck touches you, it makes me happy. I would just love to sit with you while you read this deck and talk about it because your enthusiasm for it is catching. Also, that Tower card....powerful. Definitely can't say that the book and art aren't powerful and well done. As an American, that Tower card hits hard.
I loved the way you interpreted those cards and how much you could make out of each one of them. I know it was a personal reading and I cannot comment on that, but just the part where you describing the symbolism was really deep and rich and that's the part I love about tarot readings. Thank you for your content. Love it!
I love how much you love and deeply connect with this deck. As a queer person with several intersections (including “invisible” disabilities), the NWT is representative of me and that feels great. But on an even more personal level, it’s special to me because a very dear friend was the model for The Empress card.

This is one the first decks I was SUPER excited about. I've had it for about a year and I trimmed it and edged it in pink. I love it so much
i got the original deck of this on kickstarter and i absolutely love it. i have small hands and manual dexterity issues so find it a bit unwieldy (and also don't have space on my little table for big spreads with this one lol) which means i haven't been reaching for it much so i recently bought the pocket version too and it's really brought it back into my practice. i use the pocket deck to shuffle and draw spreads and if i am struggling with the art being too small, which only happens on a few cards tbh, i bring the big version out to look at too. i don't have the sort of income that would normally allow me to have two versions of one deck but this one is so important that i just spent the money and it was worth it imo! so glad you love it too. such a deep but clear deck, one of the best around.
i hadn't finished the video when i left this comment and just want to say that i cried at your 6 of pentacles section. it's one of my very favourite version of this card too. as a fellow disabled person who hasn't worked full time for a long time (i don't work at all rn) i really struggle with what value i bring to my interpersonal relationsips and it's hard to shake that sometimes with how much we're often valued solely on our productivity. sending solidarity through the internet, i'm glad you have support you can ask for. 🧡
This was such a beautiful video to watch. Loved your interpretation of the Wheel of Fortune, and that 3 of Wands is so evocative. It's really enjoyable how this format allows you and your viewers to dive deep into individual cards. 6oP - it's just so nice this feeling, when cards are sort of "there for you" at the right time.

Mostly because I had an epiphany; I am on a sort of journey of realisation about my own suspected condition, and listening to you I realise for the first time what it means to experience ableism.

Even though you're pulling cards for yourself, I feel every word and every card you pulled very personally. I've been really overwhelmed too lately, December was really hard. I still feel very lost, to be honest, but, I don't know, I also feel like I'm taking small steps on the right direction, very much like the fool, believing I'm going on the right direction even though I don't really know where I'm going yet.

Thanks so much , Katey, I found my self in the exact same situation, A bookseller of adult books suddenly shifted to a
childrens bookshop. I was so disoriented for a while but found it so much fun, lots of research , read tons of reviews ,talked to more salesmen than I thought possible, (they were great and lots of parents too, ). Would not have traded it for the world, bookselling still was my favorite job ever. Now I am 75 and exploring tarot, and shall enjoy this

I've admired this deck for a while, but never purchased it. I know that I just don't use oversized Tarot decks. I've got a couple of them and they just sit and I don't feel drawn to use them because they're too uncomfortable and awkward to use, even though I have big hands.
I JUST saw that this deck comes in a pocket edition!!! I've ordered it and knew I just had to come here and watch this video, which I hadn't watched before.
This was an excellent video. You really helped me see truly how much depth there can be in each of the cards of this deck. I can't wait to get my pocket edition to work with!

I had been feeling the same this past December and hearing someone I value and respect also felt that way sometimes really helped me. First : you are amazing! Thank you for being such a wonderful and brave person, and for making and sharing great videos! Second: I 've been not sure about the Next World tarot. Partly it is because the art seems so busy ( actually, I'd like to have another mini deck, and considered to try the NW when I saw there is a mini version now, but my eyesight is not that great) , and also I found the imagery quite challenging because it touched a very vulnerable place inside me. But now I think I could and even need to cope with the challenge, and maybe just put the big size of the deck on my wishlist.

Have you read “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia Butler? This Star card is so the main character of the book. She is visionary, sensitive : god is change so if you want to be fulfilled we need to get in right relationship with change - working with the universe to help shape change . All that you touch you change - everything you touch changes you. It is such a powerful book -

I love the way you are teaching me how to read The Tarot, using your personal experiences. Andy Marshall is an Australian children's book artist and creator, in his video's he shows how he creates the books. Watching his video's and watching this video of yours I realised how children's book's are very much like tarot as they are about the art and the symbolism. I have worked in retail during the Christmas period, just sayin they should pay retail more hahaha. Thank You again Katey

Katey, don't forget Six of Pentacles is also Moon in Taurus. Check out the Heavenly Bodies little guide book for some helpful insight. "Perhaps you've been feeling out of alignment or fearful? Be patient and trust in your process of becoming..." This astro Oracle ticks a lot of boxes for me. Hang in there, kid. U r loved.
This deck has me intrigued. But the strength card (i think) which shows the person holding the elephant calves in leashes like pets just sends a really wrong message to me. The other cards - though very inclusive -can’t help me overcome my aversion to that one card. I am really looking forward to seeing how you use this deck and what you feel about this card.
