Just in case , the lyrics are playing hide and seek with an ogre (oni-san), so it's supposed to be a fun kid-like song. ("guru" is like spinning or turning around). Oni is asking if you are ready to play, the reply not yet (mada da yo!) Ther reply 'Mo ii yo" (we are ready). Then he sees them, " mistuke ta! (I see you!). Then they run away at the end of the song.
Kami (god) are not supposed to be humans, hence they dress like ghost-like.
THE BAND IS CALLED "KAMI BAND" 「神バンド」SO THEIR COSTUME IS TO REPRESENT A SPIRIT-LIKE IMAGE. THIS IS A SONG ABOUT PLAYING HIDE-AND-SEEK WITH A DEMON (AN IMAGINARY MONSTER IN JAPANESE/BUDDHISM CULTURE.)

Of course Su is having a great time. She was only 16 and singing at the Budokan, a really important and exclusive venue in Japan. She told that she would do anything to sing (even dance hehe...). What she got there is something that most of the singers aren't able to reach in their whole career. Not to mention performing at the Tokyo Dome a couple of years later...

I am a 50 years old metalhead that discovered BABYMETAL by mistake over 10 years with their video "Iine" and from that moment on I got hooked by BABYMETAL.
I think many people don't realize the clothes/makeup worn by the Kami band are that of a ghost or spirit. Think the girl from the grudge or the ring.

i've noticed no one has introduced you to BLACK BABYMETAL yet tho, & i feel the overwhelming need to correct that... without getting too deep into the specifics, on their first two albums, the lead singer Su had solo songs she performed without Yui & Moa -- those songs being Akatsuki, Rondo of Nightmare, Amore & No Rain, No Rainbow.
however, there were also 2 songs on each album that were by what's referred to as BLACK BABYMETAL, where Yui & Moa performed without Su -- those songs being 4 no Uta, Onedari Daisakusen, GJ! & Sis Anger (the last of which is ironically one of the heaviest songs in BABYMETAL's entire discography.) if you've ever wondered how the other two perform without the lead singer, you should check out a live performance of one of these! my personal fave is Sis. Anger but you can't really go wrong imo. :D
Those are great recommendations, he can begin Black Babymetal songs with Onedari Daisakusen live at Legend 1997 safe to react, "Gans Tomas" or "abr metal" got that clip. Great Reaction! This song was one of the five songs in the Sonisfair Festival, so it was a unique song that they needed to push hard. The peculiarity of the arrangement and the unique choreography of the performance forced the audience to "die kawaii". I cannot find any other way to describe it.

The only band who can compete with BABYMETAL is ATARASHII GAKKO imo, in a total different style, but with the same energy, commitment, wild dance, surprising music, pure charisma and great vocalist. You should check out ''Koi Geba'' by them or ''Pinnaple Kryptonite''....

Moa and Yui were just adorable at that point. Though we haven't seen Yui since 2018 (that I know of, anyway), Moa has grown into a beautiful young woman.

The Kami Band were sended by the Fox God to help the girls with the metal sound, kami roughly means "god" and they're representing the spirit entity wearing white burial robes and face paint, they're the god of guitars, god of bass and god of drums.
Live at Budokan 2014 is their first milestone on their career, after this kick started point they went on World Tour 2014 for the first time, i think you already saw Sonisphere Festival 2014 while on the Europe tour, if not highly recommend you to watch Ijime Dame Zettai.👍

Yes, they always wears white robes, corpse painting make up like Kami(spirit/god in japanese culture) while West Kami Band wears black/dark robes with masks. And yes, they are devilish cute/kawaii(kawa-ee) 😁.

There's a long tradition of Japanese concert crowds joining in at specific parts of songs. This goes for BM both in Japan and around the world and there are instructions on line that tell you what to chant and how to move.
The Kami Band in this incarnation are dressed as supernatural spirits of the dead in funeral robes., for later tours they got darker costumes and started wearing masks.
The song is about a playground game much like hide and seek where children are chased by a tagger called the "Oni-san". Oni are Japanese ogres or trolls that are often used to scare kids much like the "bogeyman". So the dance shows running and hiding. The lyrics also mention it being dangerous to go out in red shoes which probably refers to a Japanese children's poem where a young girl wearing red shoes is taken away by foreigners.
Time to explore next level of cuteness, Sakura Gakuin especially from 2010 to 2015. You will see why

Kami Band intro (Takayoshi Ohmura, Leda Cygnus, BOH and Hideki Aoyama having some fun to start us off) and yes they dress like that in traditional white burial robes and corpse face paint because they are the Kamis (gods or spirits) of guitar, bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL in all live shows.
'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek I've ever heard.
It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni (a sort of Japanese ogre 👹 popular in regional festivals and used specifically to frighten children ... and the idea of that probably amuses me a lot more than it really should 🤭), very little gets any more metal than that. 🤘
The growling vocals (they are on a backing track) are the Oni asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance.🏃♀🏃♀🏃♀👹

That "boss bitch" persona isn't really an act, that's Su. She gets very intense on stage. Their choreaographer Mikiko Mizuno said once in an interview that Yui and Moa love to play someone on stage, but Su doesn't play someone, she is someone on stage. She went on to say Su is crazy when she performs. So Su doesn't really act, she is pretty unfiltered.
