- HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED HOW URSULA BECAME A VILLAIN?
Poseidon the King of the Sea had a daughter named Ursula who he loved dearly. He told her many stories about how she would someday be the greatest ruler and Queen of Atlantica. He made a promise to her that no matter what, she would be his successor to the throne. A few years later Poseidon had another child named Triton and the birth of her brother changed everything for Ursula. She thought she had a close relationship with her brother growing up but she never realised his treacherous intent towards her. Throughout the years Ursula noticed that Poseidon started to spend more time with Triton and barely any time with her. He stopped telling her stories about her future reign as Queen which casted a shadow of doubt in Ursula’s mind about her dreams to rule Atlantica. The time had finally come to crown the successor to the throne and on Poseidons death bed he makes a decision that changes the course of Ursula’s life forever…

And the worst part? He genuinely loved them, so Ursula cursing his daughter hurt even more because SHE was lied to all because she was a GIRL and was getting revenge by hurting the ones he love.

That's the reason why she was so mad when flotsam and jetsam imploded in the movie because they were by her side for so long and truly cared for them

Perhaps,since they were calling her a witch thats why she became one in the 1st movie with all her spells.
Maybe with this video's storyline when Triton and his late wife were expecting, they were going to have a boy but she was so bitter she cursed them to have 12 daughters instead

Ursula actually does have an official origin story and song. It's called "I Want Those Good Times Back", and reveals that Ursula got her shell from her father. Both the shell and Trident belonged to Poseidon, who split Atlantica into two and gave them to both if his children. However, Ursula went mad with power and began eating her subjects. Triton then overthrew and banished her.

It's from the stage musical and it is not canon. Which is because in the animated movie Triton and Ursula are not related at all, while they are brother and sister in the musical. It was intended for them to be siblings in the movie, but that was scrapped in the very early stages of making it. The stage musical also makes several other changes. @@zarinaa1135

After seeing this i think Ursula was trying to save Ariel, she saw herself in Ariel and also she wanted to get back at her brother by getting to his daughter. Ariel went through that because of her fathers actions as well as her grandfather

I love this so much. At 1st I thought this was gonna have Marina (From TLM prequel) becoming Ursula but this was so much better. I could also see this being Ursula’s canon backstory with out originally she was going to be Triton’s sister.
They honestly they should’ve done this for the live action remake

I knew the original scrapped idea was that Ursula was supposed to be tritons sister, and I’ve always wanted to see how it would have played out! This is such an interesting take on it having Triton be the villain and Ursula being cheated out of her throne. I feel so bad for her! But honestly the part with baby flotsam and jetsam was so cute. Woah. I never realized that Ursula had a terrible childhood back then. She must have wanted to make her parents proud of her, but they've always treated her differently, and it wasn't fair. Still, this backstory song is very wicked and cool!
There was a book I read a couple of years back that Urusla was the eldest and suppose to rule. But because Triton was a male, he got the throne. Urusla used dark magic and got condemned for, was suppose to be killed by the kraken and became what she is.

Ursula has always been my favourite Disney villain, scratch that Disney character! I actually went to a re make of the little mermaid as a play this summer in witch they wrote a song that explained Ursula’s past in witch she was Tridents sister as well. I forget the plot but it wasn’t like this it was a little different. This song definitely served Ursula justice, I loved the part with the eels and how she herself is the poor unfortunate soul. I love this so much great work Milky!
The Little Mermaid the musical refers to them being siblings, and I think the new live action might have as well. So it's cannon. Came after LM II and Morgana though.

I feel sorry for Ursula for being betrayed by her father and brother I feel like she is not a villain anymore that her brother and father is it
No wonder why Ursula became a villain, her own brother and father mistreated her and when she thought she was gonna become queen, her father replaced her with her brother because he thought that a woman is unable to bare the weight of ruling a kingdom. I guess that’s why Ursula wanted to hurt Triton back by using his daughter, Ariel to do that, which of course does not justify her actions.
Honestly, I feel like Poseidon loved Ursula and wanted her to, originally, take the throne, but Triton soon got their father to believe his lies; thus, making him king instead of Ursula.

I actually love the idea that Ursula was King Triton's sister and she was originally a mermaid, but Triton used his trident to turn her into a cecaelia. I know this is just an AU, but I feel bad for Ursula that she wanted to be the Queen of Atlantica, but her father and her brother didn't think she should be the ruler because they think a girl doesn't deserve to rule, so they plotted against her and when her father died, her brother received the crown and the throne and when she tried to convince him to give the crown and the throne to her, he refused and used his trident to turn her from a mermaid to a cecaelia. This backstory would explain why she wanted to get revenge on Triton and become the Queen of Atlantica.

This story doesn't bode well for Ariel. Ursula said he’s still the same, meaning that Ariel and potentially her sisters won't rule the kingdom, regardless of whether they deserve to or not
The story is so sad it's really intresting to see the story from her perspective. Just wondering what about her sister? Because I remember that in another film of little mermaid her sister was also a squid-human so maybe you could create something for her too :)

So is Morgana her daughter in this AU? That's actually really cool and poetic cause now it's BOTH daughters following in the footsteps (ha) of their mothers! Triton accidentally started a never ending cycle of vengeance that will run him of his family in so many ways.
In the new film, Triton looks like a soulless and emotionless person. It’s as if he doesn’t care about anything or anyone at all. I liked the animatic, even if it's almost not canon.

Already their father Poseidon had commited a rape on Medusa and for that, goddess Athena taken the defense of her uncle, turning Mesusa as a gorgon, as Triton turning into Ursula as a woman-octopus.

Hey Disney! It's time for an Ursula movie!
In the original “Poor unfortunate souls” song I’m pretty sure the reason she’s so “evil” is because of neglect. Like in the song she had 6 sisters and her brother, she was deemed the black sheep and her father only cared for the other siblings and the only thing her father did was give her the shell instead of the attention and love she wanted. Then when that didn’t work that’s when she flipped and started taking out for other sisters 1 by 1 and then getting the father sick to become queen but after her brother grew up he took over and banished her. And if that not true it’s just what I learned from the song I heard.
I heard that, Ursula in the animated movie was also going to be Triton's sister, but for some reason Disney scrapped that idea, but Idk why they scrapped it, cause for me that's interesting! And it would make sense of Ursula wanting revenge on Triton, is a shame honestly
