Better than expected, but it is a bit too goofy for me. I feel like she is playing a parody of Ursula. In this song, she doesn't fully inhabit the original character the way Francesca Camus did, nor does she remake the character in her image the way Will Smith did in Alladin 2019. Uncanny valley.

I love that you can still hear Pat Carroll's laugh in the background. Queen Latifah did a wonderful job, and I am so glad they also included that small but iconic portion of the original.

Came after watching the McCarthy clip. Both Pat and Queen make a meal out of this song. McCarthy just kinda sings it. Sad they didn’t get Queen in it.
I'm very impressed. Her voice fits Ursula perfectly, and she doesn't ever stop singing her lines, not to mention still in character after she burned her hand.

She nailed it. I love how she emulated Pat Carrol by starting very slow and elegant and then building into madness.
I had a different reaction. Hearing the similarity in Carrol and Latifa's delivery I started yearning for Pat Carrol's performance. She had a wonderfully versatile voice that could really hit those gravelly lower notes.

She has a bit more power in her voice and I liked how when she got to the part where she wanted Ariel's voice, there was emphasis on that line. When Pat said I want your voice EVERYTHING goes quiet and its very clearly understood. Queen Latifah just rushed right through it so the gravity of that sacrifice was lost.

Edit: thx for the likes, I think there are many broadway actors and actresses that should be in disney live actions.
