Wellington is turning in to an absolute s*hole. I lived there for 20 years, would never go back to live now, it's so dirty and depressing to visit. My friends there tell me their businesses will fail in the next few years and their rates are crippling. It's a shame, used to be such a great place to live. It's not safe to walk around the streets anymore. WCC 100% to blame for the death of Wellington.

@@zrymillWellington City council and like most councils a waste of space and infiltrated with Greenies. They've brought Wellington to its knees. Buy a house more rural and have A BETTER LIFE STYLE.

Women can't work and afford kids in most western countries now. They should go back to being housewives and have more children and not being reliant on immigrants.

The nightlife is gone, the parking is gone, the safe suburbs are gone, the good universities are gone, the small busineses are gone, the city as a destination us gone.

You can educate women or have enough kids - not both. Everywhere that's pushed women into education and careers fulltime is now suprised they don't have time to have kids.

You missed the point. People are still having children; they're just leaving Wellington to do it, according to census figures.

We left Wellington for the Mainland 2 years ago. In hindsight we should have done it much sooner.
We still have property up there we can’t afford to sell and the council have just increased rates 17%. Where they think rate payers will get that money from, I’m not sure.

Cost of living plus? Partly due to tory and the greens are scaring them away. Infrastructure and leaky water issues. Cycle lanes. And green incentives, are not overtly popular with a lot of people. They've shut a lot of the inner city down re car parks and roading.

Lived here basically all my life. Spent most of my working life in Wellington. Its a dying city. Covid hasnt helped but more so sucsessive councils that are totally left leaning. The current mayor and council have to be the worst ever. Follow the green mantra that you can tax your way out of problems and private business is the enemy, even though they are the employers...i don't bother coming into the city if I don't need to... Its on life support... And that's a real shame. I remember when the city was vibrant...every Thursday and Friday. Now its a dead man walking

If we need to catch a bus to work during the week and catch a bus with elderly people and children to shop on the weekend in such a hilly, wet, and windy city, why shouldn't we move to a bigger city like Melbourne, Sydney, or even Auckland? Being able to use a car for family and work is a compensation for living in such a windy, wet, and hilly city. And yet, they want to further reduce the number of car parks, not even allowing us to drop off our grandpa and grandma to shop in Lambton Quay.

The council wants to invest in Green investments which is very risky and should not be done with public money. Tory's green groups feelings should not influence good sound investment policy with public money. There is a very high risk with an unsure return on investment.

The accurate correlation is between Urbanisation and Birth Rates... of course, there is also a correlation between being educated (male or female) and shifting to urban areas... hope this helps lol (Hari Seldon speaks...)

The Platform is a biased and inflammatory media outlet. They're engaging in:
Racist Propaganda: Promoting content that fosters discrimination and prejudice against Māori people.
Hate Speech: Disseminating information that incites hatred, hostility, and violence towards Māori.
Biased Reporting: Focusing on and amplifying negative narratives about Māori, often disregarding balanced or positive perspectives.
Incitement: Encouraging or allowing an environment where racist comments and attitudes towards Māori are cultivated and spread.
