Walkthrough: Landing at Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) to Leonardo Express Train to Termini

  • A walkthrough video of landing at Rome Fiumicino Airport, de-planing in the international arrivals terminal, walking through the airport, getting tickets for the Leonardo Express train to Termini, and boarding the train. This video is a complete representation of the journey through the airport except for going through passport control where filming is not allowed.
    Signage at this airport is great. When you de-plane, just follow the "Exit" signs. There is no way that you can miss passport control and baggage claim. (The layout is designed so you MUST go through them to get out of the secure area of the airport). After exiting the secure area, just follow the yellow overhead signs that say "Train" or "Treni" with a depiction of a train. You can't go wrong.
    I made this video because when I was preparing to go to Rome, I couldn't find a video that showed walking through the airport from start to finish. I am one of those people who like to thoroughly research before I travel, and I know I'm not the only one. That's why I made this video.

    Hey, Brian!
    I just wanted to start off by saying that I am thirteen years old and I enjoy watching your traveling content! If you have seen, I posted comments under my other account, Slimetime Productions. (that account is now not used anymore.) I even asked about your music in the ATL-> FLL video!
    But back when I was ten years old, I went on an airplane for the first time from ATL to FLL! My favorite thing on our five-day trip wasn't even exploring Fort Lauderdale, it was being at the airport! In my case, we had a connection from ATL to CLT to FLL! It was so fun seeing all the airports and it opened a new world of aviation for me!
    During my case of loving to be on airplanes, I watched your videos. I loved seeing all of your videos and continuing to watch them! Now, being thirteen, we've been in Charlotte, North Carolina for eight months. We loved it but it feels like it's time to go back home! (ATL is home.) Now, on Tuesday, we are flying from Charlotte to Atlanta! I haven't flown on a plane since ATL-FLL which was nearly three years ago but now I'm feeling that aviation rush! This flight is special because it's my first time flying on Delta, (my favorite airline,) and in first-class, too! Even though it's an hour's flight, I'm STOKED!
    But I bring this all up to say thank you so much for posting these traveling videos! I'm going to subscribe after posting this comment! Thank you so much for feeding into my love for aviation and having such great and entertaining traveling videos! I'm super excited and wish nothing but the best for your channel! Thanks again, Brain!

Thanks for the subscription and I will try to keep churning out videos as my budget and travels allow. Thanks again!

      If you are talking about a connecting flight (landing at FCO just to change planes to go somewhere else) then this is a part of the journey, at least the first part… at around the 9:05 time stamp you see a set of escalators to the right and a sign pointing to them. This would be where you would need to head in order to catch your next flight in a different terminal.

    I am flying to Rome next February/March and landing at FCO Airport. Termini is about 45 minutes East of my Airbnb, meaning its closer to the airport than Termini is. What do you suggest is the best way to get from airport to my airbnb? I heard that Rome taxis have a flat rate for traveling from the airport to Rome but is there a specific number to use or way to get one of them?

    • @bozy106
      @bozy106  Před 2 lety +2

      If you take a taxi to anyplace INSIDE the Aurelian Walls from FCO the rate is fixed. (You will have to research on Google to determine if your Airbnb is within the Aurelian Walls). Destinations outside these walls are subject to the metered rates. Make sure you don’t fall prey to the people acting as taxi and trying to solicit you for a ride - The real taxi drivers are located at the stand where there is a sign that reads “TAXI” located directly outside of the arrivals terminal. Taxis in Rome are white and have an emblem on the side door that reads “Comune di Roma.”
      When I went my hotel was not near Termini but at Termini I was able to transfer to the Metro (Rome’s Subway) and rode the Metro to the Coloseo station which was only about a block from my hotel. The Metro is not overly complex ( like NYC subways ) and there are only 3 lines- A, B, and C. The Metro routes are simple and maps of the route are easy to find on the internet.
      Another option you may want to explore is the Regional Train option which is different than the Leonardo Express. The Regional Trains leave from the same location but make several stops between the airport and the center of Rome. These stops include the stations at Trastevere, Ostiense, Tuscolana, and Tiburtina but NOT Termini. This could be useful if your Airbnb is near one of these stations. The Regional trains are also almost half the cost of the Leonardo Express at somewhere around 8 euros and there’s a train around every 15 minutes. You purchase the tickets for the Regional trains the at the same kiosks or nearby booths. If you look on my video at the 19:50 mark the train on the right-hand set of tracks is a regional train heading towards Rome.
      I hope you have a great trip.

    This shows the way for airline connection, how about the route for other train connection Florence?

    • @bozy106
      @bozy106  Před rokem

      The route from the airport to the train would be the same. All the trains leaving the airport (express to Termini AND regional trains) depart from there. Just searching the train company’s website (Trenitalia) for a random weekday, only one direct train from the airport to Florence was listed, however there were dozens of options if you took the Leonardo Express to Termini and changed trains, or if you took a regional train and made a connect to another train at a local station. Look at Trenitalia’s website - www.trenitalia.com/en.html - for the specific day you plan to travel. The train stations in Florence are “Firenze S. M. Novella” and “Firenze Campo Di Marte” or you can select “Firenze ( Tutte Le Stazioni )” to search routes for both stations.

      I usually take a backpack that is military style with a chest strap but that’s not really bigger than 24-25 liters in capacity. (On domestic flights I usually take a black Kavu shoulder bag). Either will fit under the seat in front of you. I just make sure that there is a small & easily accessible pocket for passports and travel paperwork. • @bozy106
      @bozy106  Před rokem +4

      For a traveler arriving from an international destination it may be close. Depending on how many international flights are arriving at the same time as yours it may take a little while in passport control/customs. Even if no other international flights are arriving you will still be jockeying for a spot in passport control among the other travelers from the same plane you arrived on. Also the train trip to Termini takes around 32 minutes but there are only 4 trains per hour leaving FCO. If one train has just left you may be waiting for the next departure for 15 or more minutes.
      In a nutshell, if everything goes perfectly it is possible, but just one little hiccup could mean taking over 2 hours to get to Termini.

      Slimetime Productions unfortunately the trip back was a little hectic. I had intended to do a video on a transfer at Amsterdam Schipol airport but due to our flight from Rome to Amsterdam being delayed on the ground we literally had to sprint from our plane, through passport control, and to the opposite end of AMS airport where our flight back to Atlanta was already boarding. Because of this I never got my camera out. And after the 9 1/2 flight from AMS to ATL with a loud jackass sitting in front of me I just couldn’t find the motivation to film our arrival. I promise to do better next time! I enjoy making these types of videos for those who (like me) thoroughly research a trip before taking it. The first one was at timestamp 5:34 to the left (it is a blue freestanding machine with yellow trim and words), the next was at timestamp 10:18 to the right, and the last was at 12:23 to the left. There are many more along that route but due to the angle and people, thats the only three I immediately saw.
      Another thing, if you are not familiar with European ATMs you can cheat yourself with the selection that you make. When you attempt to withdraw EUR from the ATM it will show you an exchange rate that is usually a bad one and asks if you accept the exchange rate. It gives you an option to decline the exchange rate and it will give you your requested euros and just let your bank figure out the rate which is significantly lower. Sometimes the ATMs rate will be 15-20% higher than what it would be if the bank figured it.
      I know this is kinda confusing, but here is a link to a video that explains it better (the guy is exchanging crowns and euros but it works the same ways with USD). The video is here: czcams.com/video/C1RhOOqdPdk/video.html

    Did you fly Alitalia to Rome? No but it was their partner airline Delta. FCO is massive but smaller than CDG and LHR and do you have a video of your departure to FCO from ATL?

      I have not bought on online but I found this on the internet
      “The advantage to purchasing the ticket online is you DO NOT HAVE TO VALIDATE IT. The disadvantage is you better make sure your phone doesn’t die when the inspector comes by to check it. They will either scan the QR code or simply enter the PNR code that’s on your mobile ticket on your phone.”
