    Great video, very informative. I was just there in February. Yes it was a little cool in Rome (about 55/60), but the lack of crowds made it well worth it. I was able to walk right into all of the attractions, including the Sistine Chapel, without having to wait in any lines. I was part of a small tour group and the guide did a great job explaining everything ahead of time, especially the Chapel where you’re not supposed to talk while in there.
    Then my wife and I flew to London for a week and it was the same: no crowds. It was chilly at about 45/50, but not too bad. The only downside is that some attractions have limited hours or are getting repairs done during the down time off season.

    • @kilroy1976
      @kilroy1976 Před rokem

      I went in early December, and I think I got lucky too. The line seemed to be mostly just a few dozen clergy clocking in for work, and the videos I've seen of the lines since blew my mind. I was the only person in the gallery with Raphael's Transfiguration, and nobody was within a stone's throw of me at the Pieta. Heh, the cafeteria was a little unnerving; "why is it only me and two other little tables eating in this huge place? Is this where they make the Lutherans eat lunch?" ;)

    This May I will be travelling to Rome for my birthday and while I was looking online to find some help I came around your video. Soooo helpful! The maps and the working hours are included here! Amazing job! I just wanna ask you one more thing that i wasn't perticularly sure about even after reading many articles- I am a university student from Bulgaria (we are in the EU), so I found that I can get a discount for the tickets/entrance fees to the monuments, but when I tried to book them from the official websites I was not able to get any reduced prices. Could you please explain if there is actually any way that I can book it with a discount or should I book the orinery tickets? We will be 4 people age 23, 22, 22 and 19-I read that the prices are lower if you are a student under 25 (my biggest concern is the Vatican). We have Isic cards for identification. It will be great if you were to answer to my question!

I’m interested in booking a tour for Vatican museums . I understand that at the tour will conclude at the Sistine chapel and from there will be a special door that will lead directly to the basilica for tour groups only . My question is somewhat two parts
    If my younger child gets tired and/or cranky, can we leave our tour guide and move on ahead ? And if we’re not with our tour guide , can we still enter the basilica (from the Sistine chapel) through the “ tour group only “ door ?

    I arrive with my senior mom on May 23 from LAX at Rome/DaVinci at 8pm (walking able, but broke her ankle last year). Our cruise leaves on the 25th. I think we have only pretty much one day. On jet lag. I would like mom to see the Vatican and me to see Trastevere and trevi fountain. Pluses =gelato and local faire. Can you help?

    is it possible to come from the cruise port by train and see the coliseum and the Vatican in the same day - and still make the return trip by 6pm? I know it's impossible to take everything in and truly appreciate it in such a short time but we are so limited by time and don't know if or when we will return. Thanks
