  • In this video I check out the Revoring variable ND and polariser from H&Y for videography use. It's a unique product that removes the need to use step up or step down rings. I hope you find it helpful and interesting!

      Thanks for the review! One less step ring I'd need in my gear bag!

    I was on the kickstarter project. i filmed and edited the hero video and from those early prototypes this has come such a long way.
    Ive had mine (8 different prototypes) for about a year and honestly busted a few in many different ways (not the latest release and because I’m clumsy).
    They do soften up in the mechanics after a bit of usage but always make sure you twist to get max tightness.
    And to see one of my favourite youtubers reviewing it... amazing!! 😊

    Your reviews are great Harv! I remember seeing this crowd funder. I currently run the Genustech ND/CPL that only stops down 2-8 stops so this would be enticing for sure!

      Many thanks, I still have the genustech too. It’s a great filter but the Revoring definitely makes things easier 👍🏻

    I'll take some of that royally free music! 😅 Great review. I was checking prices on BHPhoto and the rings without the filters aren't too bad. Maybe a good option if you already have some filters you like

    thank you Harv, I got them as well. For video very nice, for photo they take a lot of sharpness. I bought them for video - so its ok for me ;) best from Switzerland :)

    I'm considering getting Tiffen 1/8 black pro mist and then putting Revoring VND on top of that. Do you think it's a good idea?

    hi...thanks for the report! I just wonder if it is concern that the scratchy mounting might scratch the lens or the UV filter if, by chance, the attaching angle is not fully parallel? Also, do you find any deterioation of the image when the ND is at 0 and only CPL is required? or simply say is it worth to have both filters on for convenience even when 1 of them is not needed and sacrifice the image quality?

    Question, I use the 24 mm 1.4 lens and mostly shoot in bright day light here in Texas needing sometimes a 15 stop. My concern is that, according to their web, my lens can only go up to 6 stops before starts showing the ''X'' mark, what is a good solution to this?
    Thanks a lot and love your video

    Hi Harv, do you still use this? I've read from other real world users that the X pattern starts showing at just after 5 stops (on 24mm for example). What's your experience? Maybe on a longer 85mm you don't see it until closer to the 10 stop rating. -- Be great if you could confirm mate??

    Mine finally came, too. Where did you hear about a hood adapter in the works? Is this more than rumor? I would really like that!

      @HarvVideoAudioStuff  Před 3 lety +1

      I read about it from a few different sources so I’d say it’s still in the rumour stage. But would make so much sense if H&Y can make it happen, I hope it comes to market 🤞🏻

      @@HarvVideoAudioStuff Hello all.. when this was in Kickstarter mode I had some conversations with the director of sales. I contacted them for something (can't remember what now) but in the conversation I mentioned how cool would be to have a hood implemented into the system. He asked me what I had in mind and I mentioned some sort of magnetic hood would be cool. He mentioned that they were thinking of something like that so we'll see if and when it comes out. One of my complaints with the Revoring is the open and close mechanism. Seems a little fragile and mine stopped working after a few uses. I had to pay $65 to ship it back to Hong Kong and should be receiving a new one today. It did take quite a few tries to get customer support to respond.

    Is it true that 10 stop filter is never going to give you optimal image quality and youre better off breaking up the 10 stops amongst several ND filters to get better results?

    • @HarvVideoAudioStuff
      @HarvVideoAudioStuff  Před rokem +1

      Hmm, I’d say that’s true from my experience but only due to the unavoidable X pattern at higher stops. Detail-wise I’d say there’s no difference 👍🏻

    how well does this thing work on a 16mm sigma lens ?

    • @HarvVideoAudioStuff
      @HarvVideoAudioStuff  Před 3 lety +2

      Hmm I’ve not tried but should be good, I’ve had it on other wide lenses and it was fine. You’ll see a touch of vignette but that’s to be expected (I actually like it 😄)
