I laughed really hard at the "4 new Skaven DLCs this year" quip. Sure feels like it, don't it?
I could go on a long rant about how much the Skaven DLC's have started the steady degradation of the games integrity and how much it killed MP. There were several times in the past year that everyone was dodging Skaven matches because something they had was just too powerful. Obviously Brood Horrors are the prime example.

I think lords should be sub-faction bound, where there would be a sub-faction trait or bonus for the army; as in the campaign and tabletop.
That's cool
that would be really cool, particularly since most subfactions are objectively worse because they tell your opponent what lord your using, so this would help offset that advantage
I've often wanted Tretch's full vanguard deployment in multiplayer.
that's a neat way to handle it. and gives you a reason to actually pick a sub-faction other than nagarythe for shadow walkers.
Regardless as to how bad Nakai is, watching a big ass crocodile frolic through an infantry line is a beautiful thing to watch
I didn't know Queek was so big! Isn't it in lore that Queek had some of the best troops? Maybe give him infantry support, buffing his troops with attack, def, & morale?

9:45 I actually think Fleur de Lys Banner giving troops Immune to Psychology instead of a flat leadership buff could be more useful and thematic. Her whole campaign revolves around purging the undead, so naturally she'd be good at bracing her troops against the horrors the unliving can unleash upon them.
Helman Ghorst is soft and squishy.
Me who killed him with 1 shot from the tempelhof luminark: I believe it.
He has 44 melee defense and over 5k health plus the highest regeneration in the game at 10 HP/s. He's not squishy.
Ghorst needs an update, but so do corpse carts in general. They're too slow to be useful, even in campaign.

@@ThomasL12. No, actually. I do think they're too slow to be effective, and too large to be serviceable mounts. They lag behind the army, and are easy to snipe. Since the vampire counts have to be on the offensive, such a slow unit is more of a hinderance than a benefit.

I seen ghorst get used quite a bit recently . He's actually a really strong mortis and healing blob effect. You can also get him and his mortis engine for like 500 so he costs basically nothing. I've also seen a bit of Eltharion, but the Elves have too many good lords for him to probably ever be truly relevant

It's incorrect to compare Queek and Snikch as duelists.
Snikch deals insane damage to single targets, but his is not a good duelist, because he goes down pretty fast. His job is to strike from behind, while target is busy with other troops.
While Queek, dealing less damage, is quite sturdy and can beat his target face-to-face. Just like his lore says.
I'm surprised Grimgor, Tretch and Khazrak are not mentioned here. I've seen Ghorst gaining popularity recently, especially when fighting Greenskins, mirror vc, beastmen and sometimes chaos.

He does have it, but he raises grave guard instead of zombies.
Queek getting support abilities for his army would be very fitting, considering his lore has him having the most loyal Skaven army (Although that is like saying the Slayers are the fastest dwarf infantry). Maybe a more interesting support buff that changes depending on certain factors like units killed or Queek's health, or maybe a buffed version of 'Stand or Die!' that gets more potent the longer they are in the aura, but only works while Queek is in combat.
I really like the fact that you tried to provide solutions to these lords issues, with actual stats. Way better approach than just complaining and offering vague ideas. Great work!
Having spent an excessive amount of time playing Repanse's campaign I think her ability needs kits cooldown time cut in half. It can have it's uses, it's basically an on-self magic explosion with debuff and no friendly fire, but it takes so long to recharge you use it like once or twice a battle.

Being an avid Skaven fan, I can recognize Queek's role in Total Warhammer battles. I do understand most folks will argue that Snikch is the better lord-slayer and they aren't wrong, Snikch is far more geared towards lord & hero-slaying than Queek is. For me, though, both of their uses comes down to execution (hehe).
Queek is better with punching *through* units with Verminous Valour and a high armour stat to get to those lords & heroes, then popping his abilities to dish out more damage. Even failing to punch through the unit, his high armour can let him hold his own with his frontline to pop other abilities like Stand Your Ground. Thanks to this combo, he can also go toe to toe with characters that fight from the front as opposed to staying behind the front lines.
Snikch is more opportunistic, picking his moment to attack vulnerable characters. Concealment bombs, stalk, all meant to get him *around* units to hit backline characters. He has his vortex ability to deal some burst damage to units or get out of a bad situation, but they're both limited use and don't guarantee escape. While his MA and ME are higher, it is worth noting his lower HP and lower armour (yes he focuses more on dodge, but the % phys resist doesn't match Queek's armour save).
TL;DR - Snikch will stab you in the back or when you're wounded. Queek will just stab you in the face.
There's pros and cons to both, like how Queek isn't as vulnerable to magic attacks as Snikch but suffers more from AP attacks (which are certainly becoming more common for characters lately).
Course I'm the guy who found purpose and use for Tretch, so honestly disregard this if ya want.
Regarding Eltharion, the mail problem is that he is far too expensive, as are his items/abilities. If he was 200 gold cheaper he would be a good value compromise lord with decent magic and decent melee and allowing some nice role compression. Similarly his items seem slightly over priced. No bonus vs large or infantry is really needed - his stats are fine so that he can easily beat squishy characters and with support like his buffing item or hand of glory or another SEM he can hold his own against melee specialists. If you just want to buff him, I'd rather him be made a tank than give him offensive buffs, since it would be more fitting and add a bit more versatility to the HE lord choices who tend to be strong but brittle, like HE in general.
Also Bird Teclis is far from meta for HE these days - he's so expensive it is prohibitive, and since the mass changes he basically has to spend most of the battle floating and waiting for his moment, which means he rarely gets the 1400 gold that the Phoenix mount costs over a horse (which is almost as much as putting Teclis on the horse and bringing a phoenix separately, which spreads out the risk between two models and gives you the vortex from the phoenix) - and Larry, Horse Teclis, and the Archmages are more common than Bird Teclis in MP these days.
I think Teclis is arguably worth it, but Eltharion is definitely WAAAY too expensive. I would even say 400gp cheaper is justifiable. Adding anti-large and armor piercing still wouldn't make him worth the ridiculous cost.
In Turin's last faction tournament Helman Ghorst led the VC to victory so...^^
Repanse + Henri + Damsel of Life is a solid hero core for Bretonnia against factions that have thightly pack infantry, such as dwarfs and high elves
My wife uses that combo a fair bit.
having queek give a buff everytime he kills a model would fit real well. Just something like +small amount of morale to nearby units and/or slight boost to attack and regen around him. Would put him into a more anti-infantry role that can double into a lord killer

If perfect vigor fully replenishes units nearby that acthually makes a lot of sense for how nakai is supposed to be used. I mean have you SEEN that charge animation? Hes a chariot lord essentially. endurance is basically the thing he gives.
I really like the idea of making queek a more supporty lord. In lore he personally is a powerful badass, sure. But his clan, mors, is known for one thing, their leadership and combined arms/ tactical flexibility. in short they aren't necessarily as strong as the other clans with council seats, they just are much better and making use of what they have.
Queek should come with uses of "menace below" in multiplayer.
i've seen Ghorst a good amount of times in turin's channel...ofc many of those times it was a legendary lord tournament but it actually sounds like he's occasionally being used as a shotgun machine and cheap mortis engine
Nakai looks awesome, but the Kroxigor Lords are only good in the early game.

Eltharion has a great campaigne mechanic, but he seems to fall a bit short in multiplayer.
I really love to play Nakai, but after the early game I so bad with him (and his bad money issues and shit vassel faction)

Actually, if you want him to be top tier necromancer, why not have him keep Awaken Undead but have an ability for 5 zombie summons? That way he still needs to cast and use magic for his unique spell but also have easy access to chaff surrounds as the Vamp Counts play style entails.
I agree with the mount issue 100% though, he needs at least a basic horse for mount option, nothing more if they want to differentiate Ghorst from Kemmler, who can get a barded horse (if I am not mistaken, its been awhile since I played Barrow Legion)
I would love it, if they would give Helman a Mortis Engine Mount. He already is one, but then he would have the speed and charge bonus, plus would be a unique Lord.
Wow you really think ghorst is bad in multiplayer? In the current meta, a 900 gold Mortis engine is pretty dam strong considering everyone's spamming 20 stacks of infantry.
Yeah not the most up to date takes for real. Almost feel like it's a old video he just uploaded. He said something along the line of Throt is all you see recently when in fact since his nerf you barely see him.

I can't say that I agree on your opinion on Ghorst. If you watch tournaments on other channels he actually does get picked from time to time, depending on the faction the Counts are facing. Main Reason: He's a Mortis Engine. And when fighting against a faction that's not good at Lord sniping he can do a lot on the battlefield.
Regarding Repanse - give her the ability to nuke everything the strength it has in campaign. For whatever reason its much stronger in campaign than in MP.

Nakai also had a third on-hit leadership reducing effect in the campaign as well, if they gave him all three traits in multiplayer he would actually have a niche in routing isolated units quickly.
Doesn't Ghorst mount give him mortis engine effect? I remeber Turin saying people take him sometimes solely because it is cheaper than getting normal ME. And everyone always forgets that Tretch exists -=).

yes, i dont agree with this list, even Queek have good macht up, like dwarfs, where he can duel the lords and heros, and bring his especial item, who lower the armor by 30 in ''aoe''. Ghorst is a cheap ME, as you say, i saw him many times in competicions, whit his build of Vargols and cript horrors.
I don't play mp in warhammer 2 but how would it be if you can only pick the starting LL for every faction (so no clan mors with ikit etc) and Factionbonuses in campaign are in MP as well (better balanced of course). I think it would be interesting just because your factionchoice matters. Pick clan skyre and your weaponteams are better, but your other units would improve with other clans. What do you MP experts say about this? Balancing would be difficult but maybe it is worth it.
Honestly surprised not seeing Thorgrim in this list, as badass as he is, I've never seen him in MP

Queek’s whole thing is dueling, being beefy as fuck, and massacring hordes of infantry and being massive as fuck
Turning queek into a tank much like the role the brass bull has in the beastmen roster would REALLY benefit him, make him a slightly squishier, more damage dealing tarok and make trophy heads a passive mortis engine effect that debuffs enemy infantry constantly with the already existing active, plus the lore specifically says he’s absolutely massive and was able to flop a corpse of an eshin assassin like a grocery bag why is he so small
All in all, lean more into the infantry killer side and boost his character dueling a bit more
I think Queek should be centered around inspiring troops and boosting their leadership while still being a menace on the battlefield. Maybe make a unit closest to him unbreakable until he routs? It would be pretty lore friendly, plus something new to mix up the meta.

I've seen a bot of Ghorst and Eltharion. Ghorst offers bargain value for his abilities, if you're willing to gamble hard on keeping him alive. His main issue is just how good the over Legendaries and Bloodline Lords are. Eltharion actually gets some use since he has good enough combat stats plus a heal, a good mount, and some useful stuff - if you take him and gamble on the enemy not trying to take the air battle, you can save money for other heroes and units.
I think Ghorst just needs armor and more defense, and maybe some magic and ranged resist so he's not a sitting duck
So, to sum up:
Nakai -> Increased Anti-Infantry Role
Ghorst -> Increased Support Role
Repanse -> Increased Support Role
Queek -> Increased Anti-Infantry Role
Eltharion -> Increased Anti-Infantry Role (maybe...)
Yeah, I think this is pretty sensible.
Ghorst is actually played now since corpse cart mounts are less expensive, the idea with this to have a cheap lord who will also serv as your mortis engine in MU where you are sur you will face some kind of hardcore blobs.
fun fact: Queek can single handle Sigvald. actually you should have named Tretch for skaven. Eltharion needs more HP on stormwing. this is what he is (nacked) lacking compared to other gryphon riders.
Honestly, I think the issue with Repanse isn't that she's a bad lord, but that Bretonnia just has two absurdly good lords that basically get picked all the time. The Fay Enchantress is one of the most mindless meta machines in the game with her damaging aura and access to lore of life as well as her major magic resist synergizing insanely well with Guardian (not that that's gonna be an issue in WH3 when they change that into spell resist) and Louen Leoncour is basically just an unkillable terror in the night, with fear, terror, major ap, regeneration (but without the downside of normal regen) and an item that provides what would normally be a single target hero sniping effect in a huge AoE.
There's just no reason to bring Repanse. You either want the Fay or Louen and if you can't afford Louen you can still get a budget Louen in Alberic or just a generic Lord.

Not all of them. Tretch Craventail and Alberic de Bordeleauxm are hardly better than generic lords available for their factions.
Generic Life slann is better than almost all lizardmen legendary lords.
Repanse is a tank. she is designed to take on tomb king armies, and she kick their ass. She is one of the most useful legendary lords in the campaign.
Rictus gets picked? I thought that Rictus would have taken #1 over Queek?

I like queek he is alot less feast or famine than snikech but still consistant. Trechcraven tail on the other hand.
Tbh, I feel like Awaken from the Grave should have been a spell for Heinrich Kemmler to begin with. Like, almost this dude's entire career as a necromancer was based on breaking into crypts and the likes and trying to ressurect higher quality corpses to fight for him. Grave Guard are his thing, really. Plus, whilst I'm not saying he should lose Raise Dead, at least he's not entirely crippled without it. He still gets Krell, he still has more mount options, he still has the Chaos Tomb Blade which makes him really solid at supporting stuff like Blood Knights. I guess he also has his weird magical cloak thing, but honestly that item deserves a bit of a rework. It's supposed to make him a genuinely dangerous opponent in melee, not just make him a little bit less squishy. I mean, in the lore the way he uses it is to basically strike from entirely unpredictable angles whilst also being pretty much invulnerable. I'm pretty sure he at one point managed to duel Gotrek and Felix like that and got away unscathed. It should at least grant him a melee attack buff or, if they want to be more creative, something like Snikchs blade whirly thing.
Helman Ghorst on the other hand... neither does he benefit from having that spell over raise dead, nor does it make sense lorewise. He should be the zombie master, as far as I'm concerned. They shoulda given him an improved Raise Dead (more uses, slower degradation, maybe a higher model count compared to default zombies) instead of a much more niche spell.
I seem to see Ghorst a lot, though maybe that's just my local, not very competitive scene.
My wife often picks Repanse when playing Bretonnia, especially if going full peasant spam. She fills out the theme great, performance be damned.
Give Rapanse an "Élan" ability, giving units near her unbreakable and a huge charge bonus for a few seconds. Doesn't last long but can be used several times.
I like how you did not even mention Tretch. Which is good, Tretch should stay trash, we always need a good trash lord to meme with.
Queek is still a god at duelling characters, he can solo any footlord in the game, including Deathmaster, test it and see, his abilities are insane.

The contrast between single and multiplayer appears most clearly in Eltharion , he and alithanar are the best starting lords
I would like ghorst, to be more of a debuf character, giving him pestilental breath, plague Rash as passive, maybe another ability like swarm of flies, for his brothers corpse cart, and maybe some other debuf spell, and I would love him to have black whirlwind( it just looks super cool and has necromantic vibes, and could change up the constant wind of death playstyle of the vampires) instead of wind of death, even if it makes no sense, but letting him have the strongest summon, whilst he should not have a summon ability in the first place, makes no sense either.
Me just playing campaign, but still wanting lots of changes....

i used queek in my only pvp match i ever had XD i won somehow probably because my opponent expected me to bring weapon teams etc. (had a lot flying units and cavalry as vampire counts) but i bringed 2 units death runners , 2x rat ogres 4 units storm vermin hellberts and the rest was clan rats also a plague priest to summon more clan rats
Give Ghorst a permanent aura that gives all friendly units within 30 meters the guardian ability.
Also abilities taht make units unable to die are bugged. Even with the ability active models still die to artillery, melee, magic, etc. You can try it right now if you want.
Get a unit this ability activate it and let eat it shots from anything you want and you will see that they lose models anyways.
Funny thing is: my 2 first pics in multi were Raiponse and Eltharion, because they're among the lords I really like in campaign. Well... It didn't end well for me. Next time maybe I'll play with Nakai? Poor old lonely psycho jungle killer...

Eltharion's sword is ment to be trubo armour piercing, they just didn't lore it the right abilities in game.
New ability for Queek: A bit like pestilent breath, a cone or a line where he charges up and tries to behead as many infantry as possible.
Thus, every infantry slain with the ability gives him some sort of buff. Otherwise it just does some token damage since he's slicing through the chaff.
one problem with your suggestion to make queek good at killing infantry is that snikch already literally has the blender ability that just melts infantry
but if ur not using that ability he dies quickly in melee. he’s a good duelist tho. it’s good to use that ability and get out quick
Surprised Hellebron isn't on this list, she is one of my favorite characters lore wise and when she was released there was a bug that led to them nerfing her into oblivion. I have never seen her again.
Agree. Nakai gets picked more often than her. You see him from time to time but Hellebron never shows up.
Repanse was one of the first vortex campaigns I completed. I think she was fine I would just send her into blobs and destroy almost everything towards endgame.

The fact that Repanse has no type of Leadership buffing abilities makes literally ZERO sense... according to the 'lore', she pretty much managed to rally half of Bretonnia behind her during one of the county's darkest hours; this _despite_ technically just being a lowly peasant girl..!
Simple fix - give her Rally + the same bonuses as a Grail Relique; BOOM, you have yourselves a cheap but potent support Lord who can also hold her own in combat. Easy-peasy...

On a serious note, I would like to see the Grail Reliquae get a rework. Maybe have it boost melee defense as well. Make it more of a support tank like the bastiladon revivification crystal.
Yee agreed, that would def be a solid way to bring it up to par. 12 LD for ur peasants, and effectively 20 if there's fear, is solid but its hard to justify it over just buying like 2 more men at arms for the same price. It needs to either be cheaper or to have some other force multiplying effect like MD

Alith Anar needs a personal touch up. Most reason he is picked is for the faction benefits, but not for the LL himself.
Put Ghorst on a Black Coach or a special Coach specifically for him....The Charnel Coach!
I was shocked that Queek is apparently less picked than Tretch Craventail?! I mean, really? He's a great all-around lord, I know he doesn't do anything exceedingly well compared to the other special lords from the Great Skaven Clans but, he holds his own. Maybe make him more focused on buffing Stormvermin and Elite Skaven bum rush builds?

I like Helman Ghorst and the idea of summoned Grave guard but it's not even lorefriendly and that's the only spell that differs from the usual necromancer...that's quite terrible for a legendary lord and maybe make him a bit faster, CA
Hellman should have the same slow mount but that mouht should increase his durability rathee than make him faster. Like significantly

The problem isn't with Repanse. The problem is the Fey Ench. is too good. You never see Louen either in serious competitive games.
