  • In this video I create a siphon using a garden hose. I used it to remove standing water in a low spot in my yard. I call this low spot the “sand bunker”. It is a simple and easy process to do. You can use this process to remove water from anything: pool covers, pools, ponds, hot tubs, etc... it works great and is very effective in removing water.
    You'll need...
    1. ... water spigot.
    2. ... garden hose.
    3. ... spray nozzle.
Best of luck! It took me a while to master, but now I got it down.

Have you thought about filling in the sand bunker so it's no longer a pond

I’ve had that exact thought before, but I don’t want to choke the Sycamore tree by covering the crown / base. My new thought was an small catch basin and a sump pump to clear it... stay tuned for that project maybe down the road?

Very helpful. But that's not a sycamore tree.

I suppose if you can create the vacuum, then why not. 🤷‍♂️ Let me know if it works!!

What the hell is a spiget? I'm a native English speaker. Never heard that word.

“A spigot is a single knob faucet that only has one pipe it controls, like the outdoor spigot that you connect a garden hose to.”
Maybe I picked up the word living in Southwest Florida? 🤷‍♂️🤣

It would be faster to just suck the other end after putting it in the puddle “sand bunker”. Rather then priming the hose.

I love my Sycamores! I’d steer clear of those for two reasons… 1. Aggressive roots and 2. Wrong growing zone (6). But they do love water… too much! 😜
