- “To learn to succeed, you must first learn to fail.” ~Michael Jordan
“Failure is success in progress.” ~Unknown
“Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavor.” ~Truman Capote
You’ve likely heard sayings like this before that put failure in a positive light and make it look like a good thing to experience. But, when your goal is to improve your diet for better health or weight control, failure feels like a burden that is, at its best, a waste of time and, at its worst, a health risk.
What we don’t see from these brief inspirational quotes is that there are right ways and wrong ways to fail. This video shares how to fail your way to diet success.

Love your videos. Thank you! I just completed 30 days with zero sugar. Your book made all the difference in the world.
That is so great to hear, Angela! Congratulations!
True, I eat 2 meals a day which are lower carb but yesterday I nibbled on a grape here, a grape there and by 2pm I was starving so I ate a slice of bread, an orange, a quarter cup of chocolate chips and there was no satisfaction at all. Finally, 20 minutes later I ate 2 chicken drumsticks and some cucumber and was satisfied from 4pm until now and I'll be able to wait until my next meal which is at 11:30am, about 18hrs from the drumsticks. Sometimes we make bad choices and you just have to get back on track and keep going.
Thank you for sharing this information.
Both my old knees are complaining. The best thing I could do is lose some pounds and make it easier on them. A little over a month of carnivore with some keto and some fasting, now down 18 pounds and knees are feeling better BMI now 24.14, another 10 lbs to go.
Gr8 to see your success story. Congrats and keep it up. Best wishes from New Zealand 😊😊
Thank you, your videos are the proof that we don't need long videos to say something important, in a short format we always learn something important with you, many thanks for your content because I don't have two hours to listen to someone's empty speech
What an excellent and thought provoking lecture?
I've found that different people apply their learning at different rates. Fast learners are frustrated by slow learners. And slow learners simply think that fast learners are jerks.
The timing and the catalyst for change must be the driving and continuous force? "Try, try again". And usually that is not enough, so keep retry ing and failing better!
I always love how you research and deliver your on point information.
When I get "hungry" & my stomach rumbles, I stop myself & tell myself that this is a good feeling & just enjoy the rumbling. I may have some water or do a little movement & it eventually goes away.
Thank you for being here for me !
It reminds me of me with gardening. I feel like a gardener now. It took several years, but now I feel confident in my abilities to grow all types of foods. It took plenty of failure to get plenty of successes. Maybe I can apply this to my weight loss goals. My goals are at a stand still. But maybe my many and constant failures will lead to my success just like with gardening.
The sundae story, wow.
Learning is constant. It's a study of one. Us 🙂
Thank you for the free list. I printed it and it's on my counter right where I can see it when needed!

ThankYou
Always great content. Thank you
Thank you for all your excellent videos!
BRAVO.... like always 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I saw a story on the news this morning that said intermittent fasting is leading to cardiac issues in huge studies. I’m not buying it. In the Bible it is healthy to fast. I have been guilty the majority of my life of grazing on way too much food. I see studies of people who want smaller portions are healthier.
I saw that too, makes me believe even more it must be good for us.
Yes amen@@Mo-mr8vv
Is that long term IF ? Or occasional ??
Great question. My take was long term@@karahamil3657
Anything to make people think it’s bad for you….don’t do it. Like I said, I don’t buy it. Just my opinion@@karahamil3657
My biggest problem is that I know so much i dont know where to turn. I must get my weight down. I must just to choose me.
LOVE
Protein, Fat, and Fiber have been my focus at every meal after turning 54 and 5 years postmenopausal, and it's working - my weight and waist circumference have remained the same since high school! I have exercised since age 12, so that has helped, too.
p.s. You are so pretty, Dr. Becky, and I love your channel. ❤
How harmful is having a treat (dessert) after a day of fasting or dieting? Does it completely ruin your efforts or just slow down your progress?
I don't understand THINK ONCE, DO TWICE 🙁
This was my take away. I hope this helps and that I captured it correctly...
Think, do {act based on that learning}, course correct {as needed}, and do again {with that added experiential insight}.
"If at first you don't succeed; try, try again!"
@@jayhay1237perfectly and politely said.
I'm not crying; there's just something in my eye.
