I’d dare say Gerrard is the best all-round midfielder I’ve ever seen in the Premier League.

yes definitely. Dunno why Eriksson, McClaren and Cappello were so fickle in deciding Lampard or Gerrard. For me to say, either one, play Lampard and you can't play Gerrard, and vice versa, that simple. So much time amd talents wasted, when Roy Hodgson finally decided to build a team around Gerrard, thats too late, Gerrard was getting older and no longer in his peak.

If you’d said he’d had everything as a player, then I’d agree. A fantastic player he was.
But, back to the original point, he doesn’t have everything.
Gerrard scored some amazing goals and was a great player and yet some fans that dont like him, always seem to bring up that slip against Chelsea, its so sad.

England had legit world-class talent in defense, midfield, and up front. It is a shame they (that generation) never went far (or won) a major tournament.

I'm a Chelsea fan so I have a bias against Gerrard but I'll never forget that game against Hungary where he single handedly won the game by himself through passion and desire. Everybody was kind of cruising because it was a friendly but he really stepped up.

I never forget that last goal, I watched the game, it was a very intensive game in the world cup qualifications at the time. Stevie G didn't even make the World Cup team that went to Japan due to injury.
