  • Today you’ll be able to discover a fun method for sewing a separating zipper, collar and hem band on any jacket that has these features. You’ll be able to sew a jacket for yourself too! I have filmed a detailed step by step sewing tutorial that can be universal an a reference for your future projects.
I’ve included some extra details that are optional but can elevate the technique like covering the zipper tape on the inside and a super “strange” but effective burrito roll to enclose the seam of the hem band.
*Use twill tape that is 3/8" or 1/2" wide to cover the zipper tape or make your own tape cut on the straight of grain with linen or cotton. 1" by 1.5yards long should be enough and use the 12mm bias tape maker to get the two folds.
You’ll see these completed jackets on the channel very soon.
    Happy sewing!
    Karina 😊

Passing you a tip for denim. For the thick spots, take a hammer and pound it thinner. It seems to work. I cover with a cloth (the spot gets shiny) and make sure you pound on a tough surface so you don’t damage the surface. A great way to get your frustrations out.
