    I had one- hated it. You can’t even clean the “ceiling” of the thing without breaking your neck or knees. It was just awkward. It was a Bosch and looked good on paper, but I wouldn’t have another.

    We have one qnd as long as you use a splatter dome you’re fine. Cleaning is only a pain if you forget to use the dome. Hire a house keeper and include microwave cleaning in your package❤

    I've used countertop microwaves for most of my life. I rented a room for a few years in a home that had an over the range model. It was horrible. I would prefer to use a countertop in the future, but if for some reason I was confined to a wheelchair then I would definitely want an undercounter microwave drawer.

    Six years ago we renovated our kitchen to include a microwave drawer and we’re very happy with that choice even if it did cost us $2,000! We have never had and problems with our microwave drawer!

    There is a spot for a microwave in between our above counter cabinets. But they aren't very deep so we have to use a baby microwave (Black & Decker $70) so it doesn't stick out. I use it every morning to heat up water to make my cup of coffee in an Aeropress. I also use our microwave to reheat my coffee when I don't drink it fast enough. Other than that I can't figure out other uses for microwaves that don't turn out better using our toaster oven, Wolf range, or outdoor grill. So I need a reason better than heating coffee to justify buying an expensive microwave.

    Regarding the Sharp convection microwave, are there any reviews on how good both the microwave and separately the convection functionality are? I haven’t been able to find anything in depth

  • @drwhoeric

    Several observations. Another big negative or microwave drawers is you lose that extra drawer or cabinet space. When it comes to cabinets, I am a believer of "More Drawers, Less Doors". I do not like the idea of trim kits as many times they are not good with heat dissipation.

    Why can't you just have the same microwave but not over the range? Why is over the range and under the counter the only two options? I'm not talking about trim kits for countertop units, units designed from the ground up to go in a standard cabinet are pretty common in other countries.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  Před 11 měsíci

    Absolutely not! Once the thing dies it will be difficult at best to find a new model to fit in the hole. Just get a good counter top microwave and be done with it.

      @@YaleAppliance1 I figured as much but in 10 years will this hold true. Time will tell. In my kitchen, a modern high end kitchen, the Panasonic sits on the countertop. There is plenty of space and should it die; out with the old and in with the new. Too bad I ditched my old Amana Radar Range years ago. My view also includes built in coffee machines. My wish for counter top microwaves is the return of the drop-down door.

    generally hate anything wifi connected for appliances. It’s an unnecessary point for data breach, privacy issues, and problem shooting. The basics of a kitchen appliance is to cook, or mix, or blend, or some such. Ditch the fussy “connected” experiences.
