Join us as we give a Colt Lightning rifle the ultimate feeding test by slam firing. We'll then show the fail-safe mechanisms in place that let us slam fire without fear of an out of battery discharge.
Prior to watching your videos I had never seen a Colt Lightening fired. I didn't even know that they were 44/40 caliber. I have learned a ton since joining your channel. Thank you. It's a bonus that you are an Oregonian.
Had one just like that in 32-20 years ago, sold it for part of my down payment for my first house. Mine had been broken through the pistolgrip as well. Thank you for sharing yours (the Misses anyway) with us!
Thank so much Mark for putting on some quality Colt Lightning content. I just bought a 44 Cal at auction here in Australia. My heart was in my mouth wondering if it was going to cycle and shoot, and thankfully it does. Having to source spare parts here Downunder would be a challenge to say the least. You are becoming the Go To Guy when it comes to Colt Lightnings on CZcams, so many thanks for the technical breakdown. Keep em coming Mate!
Many Thanks my friend for the plug for my Colt Lightning parts. I guess you'll be wanting royalties.
That well worn Lightning worked perfectly, proving the soundness of the design. I have two Lightnings, a .22 Long and a .32-20, lovely old rifles.
The ingenuity of the old time gun designers and makers is very impressive.
That was some fast shooting for a slide action, also a beautiful gun, wonderful demonstration of how the safety action is, thank you for sharing
Very informative video as usual. Thank you for your teaching skills. As close as I could time, you were shooting all 6 in 1.83 seconds.....Wow!
Love how your wife has her favorite genre of firearms! Love the lightning!
Just a super neat old Colt. Ive never seen a lightning ran fast like that, pretty impressive performance for an old 1880s rifle.
I love seeing the internals of a gun and how it works, now if I ever get a lightning, I’ll know how to fix it
One of My Favorite Rifles Mark For Sure Hope to Find One One Day 😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😊
What a great video as usual and a great old Colt. Thanks for the video, keep em coming.

Fascinating inner workings on those old Lightnings. Thanks for giving us an inside look.

What a shooter that lightning is!
This was a very interesting article Mark. I'd too like to have one of those rifles for sure.
Winchester made a special cartridge loading for these rifles. The head stamp says “44 C.L.M.R.” It stands for Colt Lighting Magazine Rifle.
Fantastic visuals!
I appreciate the great videos. Hope you and your family are doing well
Good to see you posting up again Mark!
