Could this be the new Insta360 X4? 🤔 czcams.com/video/9XHcPPh0X-E/video.htmlsi=7if5nUkpeah1lS52
I have had so many problems with GoPro in the past that I have been an avid DJI fan since Covid. The DJI is far superior in my experience compared to the GoPro.
In what way?
@@KentRoads Battery not retaining its charge problems (my first GoPro); camera recordings displaying split-screen outputs where the left side was on the right, and the right side was on the left (I think this happened on my GoPro 7), and the video kept freezing, even after software updates, but this was very important footage for me, so it all lost!
There were a few other snags as well, but these were minor, and were rectified with software update(s), but in my opinion, these should never have happened in the first place if extensive testing had been carried out by GoPro before a particular cameras release. Even after an exchange with my last problem GoPro camera (I had three different models in all), still the same problem happened, so in my opinion I cannot trust this never to happen again, and I am more than happy with my DJI choices. I’m am sure there are lots of satisfied GoPro customers, but I was not satisfied at the time, so invested in DJI products and will continue to do so.
The packaging in action 4 is not as secured in action 3’s though
@@TheBeeryBoater the gopro battery not retaining charge was user error.
hope you enjoyed your out of focus action 3.
Another thing that is hardly mentioned is that quite often DJI releases a product early to beat the competition. When they do, sometimes there might be some bugs in the software. But they soon release updates that fix those minor problems. So as the action 4 is still new, there’s a good chance that future updates will overcome those minor issues. That’s another reason why I would go with the action 4, because I’m sure that it would make it better in the long run.
they only "beat" in time to market - surely losing the race.
Nope - literally everyone I speak to has had GPH11 problems, lots of us are lifetime GP users and we are done, I don’t need a forth GP for cooking bacon on! Had 3 11’s overheat and one of em kept glitching out constantly, GP has lost their minds! 😮👍🤝
Aren't GoPros the ones with major software bugs? Very annoying issues I've heard about, containing freezes, lag, and other similar stuff that forces you to remove the battery and put it back in to fix it. If you are in a situation where the camera does that to you and you can't address it (maybe you are underwater, or in a very tight situation climbing or driving) then you miss on potentially epic footage that you never captured because your GoPro failed at a crucial step of your journey.
DJI cameras don't seem to have as many of these issues, and they certainly don't freeze like that. (Their mounting systems seem way more practical too).
@@bugsy742 I have both GoPro 8 and 11. I can confirm your experience to be true. My GoPro 11 continues to overheat and won't switch on.
Just got my OA4, love the low light performance, Magnetic Mount, battery performance and fast charging capability. Its just so easy to use and works like charm. 😊
DJI is the one for me. I don’t want to learn all the different settings and stuff around. I want to be able to use it straight away after charging it. Looks more natural colours as well as faster charge and ease of use. Sure it would be good to be able to dial in the settings to get the best results, but it’d take me a while to do that and in the meantime I’d be out in the world getting great video with the action 4.
For me the quality on the DJI A4 is better in almost all of the scenarios in your clip.
Gopro12 looks so blurry. Wonder if he had a defective copy. On other reviews it didn't look this soft. Almost looks like 720pm on Daylight compared to Osmo 4
Gopro has been repeating itself in recent years! Osmo 4 managed to get ahead of GoPro by a few years with its significantly larger sensor and pixel size exactly the size of the Sony ZV1 sensor! Moreover, Gopro still continues to heat up with its sensor like Lentil!
It's best if everyone sticks with the camera they like 👍🏻
Thank you amazing video. Action 4 seems more crisp, seems have more detail, more sharpness. Can I ask you what parameters have you in sharp and Denoise in camera?
I was also surprise to see the Action 4 being more sharp as in all the other reviews GoPro 12 was much sharper watching even on a small macbook display so I'm also corious about the sharpening settings used.
I'm still on the action 3, and for the life of me can't understand the need for 5.3k. I do think the GP12 seems like a step forward in reliability, but my DJI experience has been flawless, so if and when I do upgrade (and there's not enough in the A4 do that that) it will still be DJI.
It’s a hard decision as both are good. I did go with the 12. I’ve started using 5.3K with GoPro labs settings. We will see how that goes, but I’ve had good results so far. Looking forward to your max lens mod thoughts. It would be a good addition to my use case, especially with 4K shooting.
The GoPro labs was amazing. You can also disable noise reduction and seriously increase the bitrate
Really want the GP but the other cam looks better as far as details and color. Is the GP easily editable to look better. Personally I want the GP more, if I were to compare it I would say it’s like an iPhone vs Samsung (other cam being Samsung). But I do see the other cam look better in certain videos.
I am waiting for a zoom capable action cam.
some times dji looks better some times gopro looks better when you were walking on the rocks the with the stabilization turned on max the dji was much sharper the back ground looked a lot sharper the gopro all so looks good in some video witch one would i get i would say the two of them they both do good in in different areas
I would like to see a battery comparison independent from over heating. Like shoot both cameras for 45 min. Turn them off for 15 min, and then see how long can the batteries last. For most the action cameras are used to shoot many short clips.
CZcamsrs seem to be pretty much biased towards recording long videos, which is not what people normally do with action cameras :)
For me, one of the reasons to choose GoPro is their old-but-good mount system, which is already widespread, so I can often find the mount points in some equipment, it also seems more reliable than the magnet-based one
@@user-yd7ds6po4lwhy you wouldnt want a magnet to quickly put on things and rotate is beyond me, despite it being able to withstand an open airplane at a moderate speed. But if you so please screw your plastics together and rotate the camera at the right angle.
@@Freyia935 I didn't realize at the time of writing that it's actually compatible with the GoPro adhesive sticky mounts. In that case it probably rocks :)
Anyways, whichever side we choose, we will benefit from the competition!
Good comparison and great nature shots here! It's a DJI for me: medium to low light, indoors mostly.
If you are mainly shooting indoors don’t bother with these tiny sensors, both will heavily disappoint. Go with a beginner used DSLR, WAY better video.
Imagine making a decision based on many variables only to have some bloke tell you to buy a bulky out of date dslr instead 😅
I mean he’s not wrong but sheeesh 😂
Best review. I think I'll go with the DJI but I love the colours of the go pro more. But I guess I can colour grade since it's 10 bit video right?
I bought A hero 11 and used it for coasteering in Shetland. It lasted about 30 minutes into its first time out before it stopped working. It had taken on water which killed it. I sent it back and got a refund and bought an Osmo 4. On pretty much every metric I would say it is better. Picture quality especially in HDR. Reliability is essential and never getting freeze and being able to take it into water environments and know it is not going to let go is crucial to me.
If you have a choice go with the Osmo 4 every time. It is bombproof and easier to use especially in terms of the mag mounting.
Hi Rob thank you for this video, the more comparisons i see the more i’m happy to have chosen he OA4! planning to pick the DJI MIC so my set is complete.
Watching this video on my phone the image looked sharper with crisp details on the dji and kind of blurry on the gopro.
I have gopro for some years now and the amount of issues I have make me wanna buy something completely different. Overheating, battery dying after 30 minutes of recording, and the newest issue- it stopped recording normal video, it keeps shutting down, so I can only use it for timewarp now. It's riddiculous. And I was a huge fan for a first 2 years, then it all went south.. After the guarantee expired.
During your stabilization and horizon leveling test, it really looks like that action 4 does a better job balancing light than the GoPro. I’m also not a big fan of the distortion in the GoPro in the middle of the screen, which is usually your face or your body. Other than that distortion and the light balancing I think they GoPro a pretty good action camera. I’ll be ordering my Action 4 soon 🙌🏼
I agree, the DJI lens has much less Warp look than the GoPro and that was what did it for me. I want to use it as an action cam but also for B roll
I so agree with you
Im leaning towards the DJI. My question is Is the DJI Action 4 worth the $70 price difference over the Action 3. Maybe save some cash now and get an Action 3 and wait to see what the Action 5 has to offer next year.
The Action 3 is still great, I still use the original Action too. I’ve had not one issue with either…
It seems that all such cameras (Go, DJI, Insta) are pretty the same, no big fundamental differences. So the question of choice for no-professional is not an image but an eco-system - additional gear, the software, comfort to use.
I have the DJI wireless microphone system, and your video decided me to go with DJI Action 4, because it supports that wireless system, which is already awesome on my other gear.
Ye DJI MIC is amazing!🔥
Thanks for the comparison video. I REALLY LOVE MLM 2.0 when on my motorcycle and your footage atop your KTM looks great. If DJI had a MLM type lens I'd go all in on DJI.
Why is it the action 4 has the larger sensor but can only do leveling up to a resolution of 2.7 while the go pro 11/12 can achieve this at up to 4k. I assume it come down to processing power….
one thing i see in these comparisons is that it really reminds me of the old cannon vs nikon debate the gopro being like the cannon is a more warm color tone where as the dji is like the nikon and typically has a cooler color tone
Thats so true!😅
@@RobHK yeah that's really what it reminds me of and there is always gonna be people whom prefer one over the other seems like both are good options I mean shit I'm still using a GoPro hero 5 so either one would be better then what I got lol
Hi ! Its only me ? the Dji is pinsharp and the Hero is blurry ?( at 3:50) Greetings !
Use a big monitor you would see how dji cam sucks and the ai adding noise reduction in low light is obvious when watching from a big screen
@@manijasjibrylkhanl.7761 I use a 27 " Monitor and the Resolution for both clips is the same .... Dji Pinsharp , Gopro mushy ...Maybe is 27 " to little =)
I agree with you... I downloaded some samples, the difference is huge!!
@@manijasjibrylkhanl.7761 I prefer a lot DJI. Gopro seems blurry. On Dji you can choose what kind of sharpness and denoise you add on the video. In low light situation Gopro is embarrassing. I'm not a GoPro hater, I have both of them. For this reason I'm telling to you. Ah, I usually see my video on a 32 inch monitor not on phone.
Same for me, 55" QLED 4k 60, I also observe as the GP seems blurry which the DJI is much sharper.
i personally prefer the audio and stabilization performance in the action 4😀
If your looking for more cinematic footage the DJI is the way to go because of D-Log and this is why I went with the action 4
I still use my original Osmo Action Cameras and truly enjoy the Action 4 for many of the reasons you covered in your video. GoPro has failed me by overheating in Florida weather while filming boating safety videos. One issue that has rolled over from the Action 3 is the gyroscopes are too sensitive to engine vibrations which negatively affects horizon leveling. It’s the only reason I still use GoPro in certain scenarios as the engine vibrations on boats affects them less. All cameras have pros and cons, I just wish DJI would have been more honest when I reached out for a resolution on the issue.
for me it is an easy choice because (atleast for me) the DJI OSMO Action 4 is 299 USD and the GoPro is 399 (i need to transfer into canadian so the dfference is even greater being about 150$. The DJI is simply better for mountain biking and unless you spend another 100$ on max lens mod it is worse than DJI.
GOGO GOPRO 13 !!!
I already bought DJI action 4 ...
Wait 1 year!
Why does the Gopro look so fuzzy compared to the DJI? (at least in the earlier side by side videos) My Hero 9 seems to have crisper videos than what im seeing here.. is the DJI really just better quality at 4k 30fps?
yea i watched other comparison videos and they were pretty much identical in quality.
I rely on an action camera for motovlogging, much prefer DJI now, wouldn’t dream of buying a GoPro again, too many software and firmware issues. Still using the original Action and the Action 3 alongside the Insta360 X2, 4K is enough resolution for 95% of users including pros.
Most people watch content on their phones, so you don't even "need" 4k, it's pretty much useless space after uploading to social media. But yes, 4k is more than enough.
How secure is the mag clip of action 4? I know it’s got a clip but still seems a very small grip compared to bolting… wonder if it can survive a fall over or rolling over if i drop it
DJI 👑 low light
the time we use in low lght not much like day time so gopro still better
you should use the word "I", not "we". @@hoangnguyenminh1901
Can you make a comparison of normal lens mode hyper view 8:7 with max lens hyper view 4:3 ?
Such a shame max lens mod doesn’t have 8:7
Which sharpness level did you shoot with Action 4. It look sharper and clearer in side-by-side comparison.
Especially in the beginning of the review! Rocks and trees look sharper, more detail on the side of the glasses Rob is wearing.
These are straight out of the box settings so 0-0, Action 4 could look a bit too sharp in some scenes as the default sharpness is already too high imo.
Does DJI action 4allows taking photos from video's like Go Pro 12? And how is the quality in go pro when we take photos from videos?
*does dji action 4 have pause/resume recording function to write to one file?*
No. Does any action have that?
the background on GoPro while Rocksteady / Hypersmooth-Test and later is blurred. The background on Action 4 is super crisp. Do you use different picture settings?
What do you recommend for a bike motovlog i have a gopro hero 9 and i mostly ride at night i want something to be perfect
The best review and comparison on youtube! I'm team A4 atm, and have sold my GP10. Maybe oneday, ill go back to GP
Thanks bud 👍😃
FYI. Photos aren't 4:3, they're 8:7. So that it's easy to crop wide or vertical or square or whatever.
The DJI camera looks more natural than the GoPro. The GoPro appears to have better dynamic range, but it looks artificial.
Watching this on an old iPhone 7, and to me the image from the action 4 looks best. I do wish, however, that the dji action 4 had 10 bit video in its standard profile. Even without the 10bit in standard, I am still leaning toward getting the dji action 4.
It does have 10 bit in normal
Yes, I did see that it was added via a firmware update! This is awesome news. Many thanks for a great review, and for your reply. 😊👍
The distortion on the new GoPro Mod looks horrendous, even worse than the Mk1 lens mod on my GP11. Despite the GP’s 5.3 resolution versus the 4 of the OA4 the quality of the Osmo Action is much better on my 5K monitor. The colour is also far better too. Anybody want to buy 3 GoPros?
every time the video showing side by side (left/right), i see that the action 4 is sharper than gopro 12. is it just me or youtube rendering or my monitor or my eyes?? (i watch this video in 4k btw)
I enjoyed your professional review, which camera can take a photo while shooting a vedio...!
You forgot to talk about Hyperlapse, and there the OA4 doesn't have horizon leveling, whule the GP12 does. I have the OA4 and was pretty dissappointed.
Watch the video
GoPro 12 is good...but the overheating issue stops me from buying it
It doesn't over heat
yeah, about low light - A4 struggles with the stabilisation in low light, while gopro seems to be doing better. So whats the use of a cleaner lowlight image if as soon as you start moving everything gets jerky and jumpy, like GoPro 10 level of lowlight stab.
Im wondering could you do a short comparison of the ultra wide on action4 and. Hyperwide 2.0 maxlens on gopro?
I just bought the action 3 few months ago, dang. Should have waiting but was going on a trip and wanted to bring it. My GP is the 7 so anything was better. I have the DJI pocket 2 I use a lot for vlogging and most of my travel videos and the Insta360 x3 for some shots. Looking at the GP 12 just to have but don't think I really need it. Waiting for the Pocket 3 I think for my next one.
My main reasons for going with the Action 4 were the constant emails from GoPro with discounts that weren't really discounts. Also, I am still grumpy with GoPro for killing off Kolor.
9 months late to watch, but I'm puzzled as to why the GoPro is so much less sharp in every recording used here. In other videos it is always sharp and detailed, with the main difference being that the A4 has more natural-looking color.
I am using action4 for my vlog 😊
Are you satisfied with the performance?
It seems you found a software breach with the battery going from 19% to 1%. This is what they had for next GoPro 13… a battery improvement c. 20% 😂🤣 (they are playing with us basically updating software from one generation to another).
Great review, thank you, helpful to decide my purchase, greetings from Argentina 🎉
I never had issue with my Gorpo 10, seriously wanted to get the OA4, but couldn’t deal with all the micro jitters. Went with the GoPro 12 which in daylight has better and clearer image quality.
You sure? Check out the quality difference at 4:35
@@swapnilmankame This gets very confusing... other videos I've seen show the opposite or the same quality. Which one is correct? Are sharpness setting the same? Is medium sharpness the same on both? I can return my 12 but is there really a night and day difference?
Action4 just pushed another firmware which solve the jitters problem.
@@kellyfrom98 ok interesting, does it specifically detail this? If it's the one released 2023/09/07 it does reference stabilisation for cycling but it hasnt addresses jitter According to some
I am done with GoPro. They release the same camera over and over again. I just purchased the Action 4 and loving it!

dji looks so much better, and i think 5.3k is too overkill for most people
Good comparison between these actions cameras, and both of them look very good. You probably couldn't go wrong with either. Great video, and thanks for sharing.
Thanks a lot Ronald👍😃
What I see is from 6:25 the windows in the houses in the background DJI 1080 is sharper than GP 2.7 - I'm on a 34" monitor
Between the two, which one is better, because with GoPro, you have to pay for subscriptions and to edit software and view it to me, seems like a pain in the butt, but this competitor does it do the same type of thing do you have to pay for subscriptions to view an edit your videos?
Only gopro have a subscription, you don’t need it to view or edit, it will only give you a better price and store your videos/photos in the cloud
Audio, night video, battery, colors, speed of turning on and speed of mounting on holder... Everything is better on dji. Ah I almost forgot, the main thing sensor size is better as well. It's even not comparable. DJI wins in every main aspect for main purpose. I will order dji definitely
Dji seems so much sharper in all scenarios, is your GoPro out of focus or something? All of the footage seems blurry or low resolution.
everyone compares these 2 cameras but always with gopro in 5.3K, would be good to see battery life comparison with both at 4k
is it me or is the gopro footage looking slightly blurry?
I think I like DJI more , THX❤
Rob. Did you use luma fusion to edit this video? I have watched all your tutorials but can’t figure out out to make the arrow come in and out like you did to show how wide the cameras are.

Why is no one talking about external mic setup for high speed moto vlogging without DJI mic😢
Because the audio quality is terrible
@@WingMan1964 ty for being honest
Try a 32bit field recorder under the seat cowl. Both cameras support timecode so with a timecode enabled field recorder you don’t have to do the clap thingy for syncing afterwards.
No GPS = GoPro is DEAD to me after being a customer for 6 years. All I do is motorsports and the GPS data I'd integrate into gauges using Telemetry Overlay were awesome. Here I come DJI. Yes I am aware I need their GPS remote.
Is dji osmo action 4 good for photography?
I never take photos with it tbh, if so i would use the gopro 12.
But stay tuned for tomorrow! New camera coming 😎
I have them both...
I use both.
I prefer dji
However it is not a slam dunk on all areas.
5.3 gph11 is definitely an advantage and has built in star trails.
But but its batteries and overheating suck big time.
3:43 shouldn't the gopro here be on the left and the action on the right? Coz here the gopro quality is pretty poor xD
Better picture quality, better stabilisation, better audio, HDR... yeah, i'm sticking with GoPro
Better overheating😂
@@1Know1tHurts I saw a video from another creator who put the Action 4 and the Hero 12 in the sunlight and the Action 4 turned off first for overheating so, yeah... "better overheating"
@@AbelVlogsRD I own Action 4 and it can record in 4k50 for 7 hours straight. My GoPro could never do that. 20 minutes and it was dead. I am glad your GoPro serves you well👍
better audio? When you like something, there is no reason ...
For diving shots overheating can be a problema with the fog lenses
I think the biggest downside of DJI for me is the slowmo of 240fps, it says 1080p but in reality the pixel count looks like 720p compare to Gopro that looks like a 1080p.
but if you dont use that framerate id say DJI wins, but if you need it GoPro is your choice, although if slow mo is your need, you dont buy action cam for that lol...
with such a low megapixel camera sensor, of course.
Action 4 also had only 10 megapixel photos, compared to 27 of GoPro. big difference.
@@z352kdaf8324 To what I see, it's not megapixel low, since you can set it ultrawide which should have use the full sensor real, aint that obvious already? it's not how you think it is. But im sure it's more on processing power that DJI needs to bring down to lower pixel count so it compensate with framerate and its slow SD writing speed at this point compare to GoPro, tho with GoPro that's where everything goes down in the past, freezing and overheating
I found that my Action 4 produced artifacts. Really disappointed, sent back and bought the GPH 12.
Very nice and honest review !!!
Thank you!🙌
Hi Rob, thanks for the great review, DJI action 4 outshines go pro hero 12 in most departments, the 5.3k resolution compared to action 4 is extremely minimal due to action 4 larger sensor with its larger pixels, what shocked me was the photos comparison despite go pro having 27 megapixels compared to action 4 10 megapixels there was no difference. Low light DJI blows away go pro.
I personally think the Go pro hero 12 is the worst upgrade from Go pro.
Curious…. How long have you been testing your HERO 12?
Incredible review !
Thanks a lot mate! 😀
If DJI goes to 5.3K and allows for an easy mode for verticle video, it's game, set, match.
Nice! But any of these or x3?haha
It looks like no frame is in focus on the GoPro. Wt..F
Very interesting comparison. I cant help, but to me the A4 is sharp from the beginning to invinity. Where as the GP12 doesn't (Vlogging at 3:47 minutes). I watched it on a 55" 4K OLED TV and at a 40" 4k Monitor. Even your face looks out of focus on the GP12 and thats very obvouis. Very strange............ And when you freezefram the vid the GP12 looks completely out of focus.
Did here something going wrong with the GP12?
The GP12 is faulty, there is no way that is normal and the OA4 looks over sharpened. All other comparisons on the internet are of a very similar quality. I don’t understand why the reviewer can’t see this ?
Yes, the A4 is oversharpend. Maybe it's the HDR mode why the GP12 is mushy, because it tooks two differnt frames. Just a guess. @@17cream
I was thinking exactly the same thing
It’s obvious that HDR is not HDR or not optimized. This is the straight out of camera HDR with no adjusments or corrections that others might have done.
My goal is not to optimize footage in hope that I receive an early model next year, its straight out camera and is what you get. BUT i haven’t had the time to look back at the footage on youtube before now and i see what you guys see.
There could be an issue, but luckily i now have 2 so i will do a comparison over the next few days with the 2
@@RobHK yes please keep us updated. I havent tested HDR yet. But normal is razor sharp.
I love gopro night effects. Sth that i can create so much stunning pictures and video.
TBH I think I'm starting to OD. I really appreciate your reviews, you cover everything in real life scenarios, I think that is valuable. I will never get near using all of these features and settle for the HD I get out of my Insta360 X3, I guess now my question is: "If I throw both into comparable modes, the 360 X3 and the as yet to be determined 'camera 2' which will spend most of it the time on my helmet, which of these two would be the best choice for minimum work colour matching?" Souhds silly maybe, but it's where I'm at 🙂. Not really feeling it for the GO 3 btw.
GoPro better image quality and stabilisation. DJI beter user experience. So I went with the GoPro 12
What fish did you get?
🤷♂️ it´s a fish i can tell you that.
damn dji action4 image is super sharp
DJI has crispier image than GoPro 12 in the distance. Especially loses sharpness when hypersmooth is on. Don't like it.
