This is one of those shows that every supporting cast member is 10 times better than the main. Robert, Marie, Frank, Debra, heck, even Amy’s parents and brother, were such great actors and brought so much to the show.

I don't think raymond's acting is insufficient, it actually even feels like he is really just being himself, and why not, he is a unique character too, and it plays well with the cast. Bashing on raymond is like bashing on jerry seinfeld
geez, ray is a comedian. to make this work, they surround the main character with amazing supporting actors. just like seinfeld.

People talk about Ray or Jerry like they weren't self-aware about that... plus they're both the creators and writers of the shows.
Reading all the comments here, makes me realize people don't "get" comedy. They analyze and over analyze it to death. It's just a hilarious program about a nutty family. That's it.

Comedy can relate to people's lives. I've noticed people have said that they see their own mom in that woman, so it's triggering certain memories for people. Comedy can be funny but also relatable to other people's experiences.

And then Marie proceeded to gaslight herself that Robert was the one who threw the parties and Raymond took the blame, returning the status quo of Marie coddling Raymond and snubbing Robert.
That's not status quo, that's a quite accurate portrait of how parental favoritism works.
Anyone ever notice how much eating is involved in this show, or is it just me cuz I'm currently trying to watch what I eat... and everything looks so damn good?!?!?

Ray was always my least favorite character, but this was one of those episodes where he's just a total dick.
My least favorite character is Debra. She's controlling, mean and can't cook

N the things is he really didn't host the party. It was Ray but she wants to say it's robert so she can love Ray again. She is truly a terrible mother.

That wouldn't fit with the comedy of the show.
This should have been a sign to her how wrong she has been treating Robert. Raymond should have just let him enjoy it a while

It’s about the episode & story line where Robert gets an interview to become an FBI AGENT………this is probably the only time it’s seen how much Marie loved & worried about Robert .
I’m sure there are real life Marie’s out there which would be anybody’s nightmare & ya kinda feel sorry about that …….but this show was excellent…..so funny .

Its so hurtful if someone is fake nice to you.
And even more if you find out the various reasons behind it: to make someone else jealous, to punish someone else, out of pity for you etc. This entire type of non-authentic behavior is a million times more brutal than just being openly mean to someone.
And on top, its an insult to your intelligence. As if someone wants to say that thats your real worth: you're just good enough to be used, misused, abused.
I know this is just a sitcom. But sorry the writer of this is a complete psycho.

While Marie Barone is furious that her son Raymond would smoke and drink beer at the high school party at his parents' house, ignores Raymond, not give Raymond a birth minute kiss and a piece of cake. Raymond solves the problem, by getting his brother into trouble for drinking beer and smoking at the high school party at his parents' house, so that way Marie can forgive Raymond, give him a piece of cake and a birth minute kiss.
Raymond found the problem to solve itself, his brother Robert can give Raymond a piece of cake, and explain to his brother what happened when his mother was furious, angry, disappointed, hurt feelings, and annoyed that he did that the last time, and guilty that he was smoking and drinking beer at his parents' house, so that way it would be Marie Barone's turn to be furious at her son Robert who would do that, ignore him, and not give him a piece of cake and a birth minute kiss, so that way Marie would fully understand that her son Raymond is sorry for what he did in high school.
What if Robert wasn't there at Marie's house, while his mother was furious at Raymond for what he did in high school?
