Might as well replace axle hub seals, and release bearing while 020 is out. Also, shift link bushings. All easy to get to. I do all this laying on ground with hand tools, in °110 heat. Great video!
Thanks for filming. I'm going to drop a gear box on my 94 vw Golf. Torque converter seal leaks bad. I will make vid as well. Cheers.
awesome video dude, I'm swapping my transmission tomorrow and this video helps a lot.
hector trevino Glad this helped!!
Really good video brother , this is going go help me with my golf project
You can reuse the clutch cable you just have to pull the outside out and the inside and really fast pull the inside out while pulling the outside back it takes a few times to get the hang of it but their is a video on you tube✌
Muito bom! Qual quer hora vou ter de fazer isto no meu Golf GTI 94/95.
Trocarei também o retentor do volante.
wow the throw out bearing is on the back side of trans under green vw cap.
Really helpful video dude!!!
Glad it helped bro!
What about the pilot bearing where does it go in
How long did it took you to replace the clutch. My cabrio it’s hella leaking transmission oil so I have to replace the clutch but what else you think is the oil leaking
hey there, ik this is an old vid but i just got my lvl 1 auto service tech certificate and still need a couple tips and pointers here and there. thanks for the help as im changing the clutch on my 97 golf
I did this video while in tech school :)
Thanks for the video it really help...but I'm having trouble with the pedal it's sticking to the floor and tried everything and nothing any help with that? I would appreciate the help
when one of my previous jettas clutch pedal would stick to the floor I would have to go into the engine bay and pull on the cable and it would release. You will need a new clutch cable to fix that issue correctly
I wish I found this literally 3 days ago I just changed my transmission because my original the baring inside exploded shredded through the gears and I bought a new clutch set a while back but I was inexperienced and didn't want to screw anything up
Thanks for great video:)When i took out the starter, the engine and transmision came Down a couple of centimetres. The engine was supported by the oilfilter which held it up.I can see the starter is actually held together With the front engine support, but it should not have dropped Down like that..?
Glad it helped you out! Maybe check your mounts? I think mine dropped a little bit could be because it is one of the mounting bolts for the transmission.
If you got all that apart you may as well just send the flywheel out to get machined, it's not expensive and you know it's 100% clean and level that way.
You forgot about the throwout bearing that's in the back of transmission that has to be replaced or is it in another video
I did this before watching the video. still haven't tried to start it yet. anything I should know about the clutch going together? I'm pretty sure it's legit but swapping the clutch and transmission for the first time at 17 years old is nerve-racking
just know you will need a new clutch cable if you did not do the restraint tool in the beginning before releasing it.
DIY Ethan I'm already replacing it with a manual adjusting one. what is the most common thing people might look over?
The 2.0 8v machine uses the same clutch as the 1.8 8v 90cv
What is that little black thing in the bag at 7:06 in the flywheel.
Release bearing is the smaller one. Idk what the other black circle is
Can you please put a link to where i can get all the parts.
fudo yusei eBay
44 ft. Lbs and a 1/4 in. Turn. Could you please explain
use the torque wrench and put it at 44 ft lbs then you'll grab a wrench or ratchet and turn the bolt a 1/4 turn. It's suggested not to use the torque wrench to complete the 1/4 turn
Great video. Did you have the engine supported?
Patrick John actually yes i did. i used an engine hoist and hooked it up to the head on the left side of the motor. and thank you!
Did you have to put engine hoist for support ?
And also did you unbolt the right side axel ?
both axles were pulled and i had an engine hoist that sat on the top of the car. if youre doing it without a lift i normally use a jack with a block of wood under the oil pan to support the motor.
Pedal kit
not me looking this up because i wore out the clutch trying to learn how to drive it 💀
11 months later, still using the original clutch until i find the time to install the new one i bought xD
Where do you get that 8m
You can get it from Sears or any other tool vendor. Just need an 12 point socket
The one you're supposed to use instead of the torx
It's called a triple square and you have to search for it. I luckily found mine at autozone. But online you'll find it
Or you can get lucky and find it in a kobalt screwdriver set with the bits at llowes
how i can adjust the clutch cable
