I also turn the air controls off as it limits the foaming and if you have a blower turn it on and off a few times to clean those air lines.

I sometimes get an airlock if i dont vacuum out the jet lines when changing the water. Removing the filter and putting my submersible pump hose in the filter hole has aways cleared out the air. My hose is more rigid like a plastic vacuum hose rather than your soft plastic hose.

On our fourth day of refill, tub is set at 6 on dial. Checking salt today [added more yesterday] everything looking good, still working on alk..almost there too. Do I add another tbl spoon of chlorine? When do you stop adding chlorine?
Ps.. at set up we were told from manufacturers to put spa setting at 10 and turn on boost and leave it like this for first 3 days...

New grandee owner. Had it up and running for 3 weeks and now draining due to foam. Believe my mother is the culprit (getting into tub in tshirt and shorts). Foam was awful. Hopefully I learned my lesson. Any recommendations on fully eliminating the issue before my refill?
If it is salt water use the on the go and make sure you get the phosphates down. Get your mom a hot tub suit that stays at your house for Mother’s Day. 😎
I would avoid the windex or any other standard household cleaners. They leave a residue behind that will build up in the hot tub. Vinegar is a great option and recommended by most manufacturers. The vinegar smell will dissipate quite quickly. Less chemicals the better. I prefer spa marvel cleaner. Also it's not recommended to run the jets with the filter caps off to prevent debris getting in the lines. Remove the filters, replace the caps and then turn on jets to distribute the cleaner. Highly recommend spa marvel water conditioner after refilling and balancing water. It has helped us maintain balanced water and use far less maintenance chemicals. I bottle every 3 months. Saved us a ton of money!

@@TheHotTubLady hot springs owners manual states DO NOT USE “specifically: simple green, windex or spa mitt” it only recommends either fresh water, HOT SPRING FRESHWATER spa shine or soft scrub.

In an older video, you indicated chlorine was your sanitizer of choice. Is that still the case? Curious if your thinking changed setting as your new tub is running salt..
Salt is chlorine so yes. I do prefer salt above all but not all tubs can be salt if you can’t do salt I recommend spa frog @ease which is still chlorine so yes I prefer chlorine as my sanitizer! Hope that clarifies it. Thanks so much for watching.
I have a fresh salt cartridge in Vanguard tub. I need to purge and clean. Do I leave salt cartridge in during cleaning or remove during cleaning as I want to re-use my one week old cartridge. Not sure if cleaner will damage cartridge.
If you are purging I would remove the cartridge but make sure that you put the plug or dummy cell in before running the purge I hope this helps

I'm currious. Why do you need softened water in a salt system? I have read that it lowers calcium hardness but what happens if I have the higher hardness reading in the "ok" range of a normal test strip ?
The salt systems will not operate above 75 ppm but you have mineral on the water to offset the hardness.
I’m going to order the scrub, I am also gonna get more soft skin spa because I really like it. Do you recommend regular soft skin spa or the one with silver?

Where can I get that scrub for hot tub
Mine never fills from the jets bottom up even though I place the water hose down in the gray standpipe. The water always overflows from the standpipe into the filter compartment and down into the tub. What am I doing wrong?
Some models it will start coming out of the jets and not the bottom drain…. What model do you have

So, salt in tub now and not filter area? And did you wait until tub was warm? And is it common for suds like when you add salt?
I put salt in chemical area [filter compartment] and got suds like bubbles.. plus my alk is still high. [ put ph down in this morning ]
Chemcials should go in the filter compartment Salt should go in the footwell of the hot tub. You should not be getting suds and yes it is always best to have the hot tub up to 95 degrees before adding chemicals but for production purposes we had to do it early. You should not be seeing suds after a drain and refill what did you clean your filters with and did you rinse them very throughly before adding back into a tub?

The owner said no to salt- which i what i signed up for - he has same hot tub no salt.

@Rail Rider I should verify what quality of water your are starting with? Can you find out the following things for me. (Any local BioGaurd dealer should be able to check this for you) What is your hardness and do you have any metal in your water? What is the Alkalinity, pH, Hardness and metal count in your source water.
New Hot Springs owner here and I'm confused by a lot of things. 1st off though the The Freshwater Salt System Owners Manual says on page 3 "Pour the salt into the filter compartment, 1 cup at a time, with the jets running" so dumping it in the footwell isn't in the manual.
It does say that in the manual, and I typically agree, however I have personally started up hundreds of salt water hot tubs and have seen the salt get poured in to quickly and it will plug up the circulation pump too many times for me to go along with that recomendation. If you go very slowly (like 2 hours to add all your salt) you will be fine. The salt also will not damage the shell like chlorine or shock can so it can go in the footwell. It is important that the jets are running and you have better results if the water is 90 degrees or warmer. If you are concerned I reccomend you follow the manual. I thought adding an amount of that chlorine concentrate has the potential to give you a cyanide acid lock? Or is that oxidizer or something different?
CYA lock is a thing, but it would take substansionly more chlorine then that. It is pretty hard to get a CYA lock in a hot tub.

Why do you want to purge a hot tub, what does that mean?
It means you clean out all of the biofilm scum a guck that is on the inside plumbing of the hot tub and motors. Good to do at least once a year

Hi Hot Tub Lady - We have a Hot Spring with 5 of the reusable filters. It looks like you are using a mix of the ceramic and pleated filters. Curious to know more? Thanks for the videos.

Saltwater hot tubs are once a year! The tds doesn’t get as high so it is a resource saver for sure! But yes a chlorine or bromine hot tub should 100% be changed every 3-4 months agreed. Thanks for watching
