Soft Wax VS Hard Wax

  • One of the most frequently asked questions in the waxing world is what is the difference between soft wax vs hard wax? Well, where should we start!? First we only and HIGHLY recommend Mermaid Wax Next Generation Premium Hard Wax. I haven't use soft wax in years so I purchased soft wax for this demo. Soft Wax adheres to the skin, not the hair. You can only go over an area one time with soft wax, otherwise the skin can tear and come off with it. Soft Wax is applied VERY thin. If you apply it too thick it will be a pain in the butt to get off. Soft Wax also requires a strip to be removed. Hard Wax adheres to the hair, not the skin. This means you can apply multiple strips over the same area and the skin is safe. Hard Wax dries on its own so it doesn't need anything to remove it. Hard Wax is new technology and far superior from the sticky soft wax, in my opinion.

I've used both hard wax and soft wax and I prefer soft wax.
I am brown and I have really think hair. When I used hard wax as she said it grips on the hair, so when I pulled the wax it was sooooo painful. When I use soft wax it does not hurt.
Hard wax leaves my skin red, I do not experience that with soft wax.
When I got my legs waxed the person used soft wax, it wasn't painful and not at all sticky after it was done.
Here is one my funny experiences with hard wax. Before using hard wax, I watched couple of her videos they were extremely helpful. I waxed my arms and armpit and it went fine, it was more painful than soft wax and I was red but could be worse.
After trying it couple of times I was like I got a hold of this and I tried waxing my bikini area (bad idea). As I said before my hair is really thick. So I applied in at the very top and small area when I pulled it was extremely painful. I should have stopped there but my dumb a** was like let's try it one more time.
I went a little lower than before and covered more area than before. I got the lip part of the hard wax and as I started to pull it was so painful. I stopped pulling after seconds and now there was a big patch of hard wax in my bikini area. I said to myself I am not pulling this. This is my life from now one. I will Iive with this hard wax on my bikini area forever. My bf came to check up on me and saw what was happening and he could not stop laughing.
I somehow got the courage to pull it out and that was one of the most painful waxing experience of my life.

  • @andwell8148
    @andwell8148 Před rokem +17

I got the soft wax just today. What I learned was:
1.) You NEED to glide soft wax on very thinly, too much will not pull out hairs, but make it very gooey/sticky and a wasted cloth strips.
2.) You need to get the Numbing spray/cream. It helps.
3.)Get an extra bottle of Wax Remover. Get cloth-like paper towels(not the cheap tissue paper-y kind, thicker is better, trust me). Soft wax is like trying to get thick honey off. The remover softens this up so it wipes of easily.
4.) If buying the Trial sizes kit, buy more strips. There’s plenty in the kit, extra is more preparation.
5.)You need the powder. I still had a few hairs left, I think that powder is necessary. I’m going to pick it up tomorrow along with the Slow Grow that slows down re-growth.
6.) pre cleaner before you start anything smells basically like isopropyl alcohol.
6.) Buy extra wooden sticks for applications. Don’t Double Dip. Hairs WILL get into your pot. Contamination. But if it’s just you, I guess whatever you choose. BUY MORE STICKS, though.
-if I learn more about this personally, I’ll edit this. I haven’t tried the hard wax, I bought the beads but my kit is soft wax and the can it came with is soft wax, I didn’t know I had to buy an empty van for the hard wax beads for the wax heater-thing. I also need to look into how to clean a hard wax can after use, after I use only what I need, then sanitize for next use.

She's right though, about offering clients the hard wax and them being more likely to come back. I tried waxing professionally. It was expensive, it hurt, and it didn't get all the hair (they used soft wax). So, I went on Amazon and bought an entire hard wax kit for less than a bikini wax and it hurts less and I do just as good a job.

So this is why every time I waxed my eyebrows and especially upper lip I would be red for DAYS and then break out in almost like a rash with tons of tiny bumps.
By the time the bumps would finally disappear the hair was already growing back. I had no idea there were different types of wax. After seeing this I realize it was soft wax and I was ripping skin off!!!
I haven’t waxed in years because of the rashes and breakouts!!
I’ve grown so tired of shaving I am considering waxing again but doing my research first!!

Of course you can use the rest of the wax. Just be sure to use a different paddle stick each time you get wax to apply on your client. That way you don’t put a used (contaminated... dirty) paddle stick back into the clean wax. That way there can’t be any cross contamination. Hope that helped.

Mermaid wax actually comes in micro beads packaged in bags, you can easily fill a 1 pound insert tin with them and it'll work just fine that way. Thats what I do. And Mermaid WILL get the fine hairs just fine, still requires clean up strips but thats with all hard wax. The recommended hair length for waxing is a 1/4 inch anyways.

What if our leg hairs grow any way? I used to shave up and down before learning how to do it right.

But can you use hard wax on soft hair like arms and legs? I thought hard wax was for corse hair like in the bikini and armpit area only.

where I'd your hard wax warmer from? do you ever buy the 2lb tin of wax and break it instead of beads? I've never seen videos of people using that one

I’ve just learned waxing and my tutor taught me to apply hard wax against the hair and remove against. When I look online everyone is doing with and then against. Was I taught wrong or can it be done like this?

Is it true that the hair gets thinner over time with consistent waxing? Because my pubic hair is so thick it’s crazy… and I get a lot of ingrowns too… even if it just gets slightly thinner I’d be happy haha

Sorry ya'll watched it a few times on different browsers, no issue. I think it's the CZcams ad load in the middle. That's something they'll have to fix, no control for that on my end. Sorry again
