  • I love recording flat wound strings and was changing over this really cool Squier 60's Vintage Vibe (whatever they call it) from Rounds to Flats... and wanted to make some recordings of before and after for my own knowledge base... but of course thought "hey, this would be a video I'd want to see from somebody else" so I made this one. Hope you get some use out of it. Please Subscribe if you did.
I have zero sponsorship or affiliation with anyone or anything. I bought and paid for everything you see in my videos and make these videos for my own entertainment and education. I share them because I know these will be interesting to some other people. If that's you.. awesome! Thanks for watching! Don't forget to subscribe.

      Yeah me either.
My basses both just sound bigger, and sit in my mixes so much easier with the flats!

I didn't realize how punchy flats are on a P bass. I used to have an active pickup system on a Valley Arts PJ and the difference was much starker.
Now I have flats on my Hohner "Steinberger". Love 'em. I just can't deal with the string noise I get with rounds.

It is so much fun to play the flats and tracking is just easier to get to what Im looking for! Thanks as usual for the view and input! -Marty
